Chapter 8

"Last night was interesting," Lily said, as the five sat around the table the next morning. They had all gotten up late, mainly because they all had too much to drink, excluding Lily. Albus, Scorpius, and Rose were suffering from hangovers.

None of them had showered yet so they all sat in their night robs. Rose laughed, her hair was in a loose, messy bun and she wore a large t-shirt and pajama shorts. Scorpius merely grunted, putting sugar in his coffee. Albus glanced at Lily while he rubbed his head.

"Great party," Albus replied, smiling slightly.

"Great girls," James sighed, shutting his eyes.

"All I remember is eating amazing burgers," Rose said. "Were they that good?" she asked Albus.

"Those were pretty great, too," Albus nodded.

Scorpius glanced at Rose, he, unfortunately, remembered one fantastic kiss with Rose. "You don't remember anything?" He asked Rose, before he stopped himself.

Lily stopped buttering her toast, and glanced at Albus, who looked back at her. They two looked at Rose, then at Scorpius.

Rose looked confused, "Just those burgers, and Steven…" she smiled slightly, "That's all, I think."

Scorpius tried not to show any emotion and put on his best poker face. He took a sip out of his coffee and said nothing else. James cleared his voice, taking his sandwich elsewhere. The four shared an awkward silence, until Albus spoke up.

"We should go bowling tonight," he suggested.

"Tonight I'm hanging with Bianca, the girl from Hufflepuff, do you know her?" Lily asked, glancing around.

"Oh, I know her," Scorpius smiled slightly while Lily glared. Rose laughed lightly, and the smile was off Scorpius' face in a flash.

"Well, I want to go bowling, and since I can't today, let's go tomorrow," Lily said, looking at Albus.

Albus rolled his eyes, "It's closed tomorrow, and I'm not going to change my plans because you can't come. Are you forgetting you're my little sister?"

She glared at him, "Albus go another day or I'm telling mum!" she exclaimed.

Albus looked thoroughly annoyed, "Tell her then, I don't bloody care, we're going today and that's final," he said, raising his voice a little.

Rose and Scorpius both felt uncomfortable as the two siblings argued. Finally, Lily gave Albus a final glare and stomped up to her room and slammed her door. Albus rolled his eyes and chuckled, shaking his head.

"Aw, we can go another day Al, I feel bad for her," Rose frowned.

Albus shrugged, "No, we're going today, and I'm tired of the little brat always getting what she wants."

"I can't make it either," James called out, half asleep on the coach, "Sorry, kids, I know you'll miss me."

"Right," Albus said sarcastically.

Rose laughed lightly and stood, Scorpius glanced at her, "I'm going to shower, guys," she said, shaking her head. She quietly went up the stairs, not making a sound as she walked.

Scorpius subconsciously watched her all the way. Albus snapped his finger, making Scorpius look at him. James laughed in the living room; he knew where the conversation was going.

"Scorpius, are you alright?" Albus asked him, frowning.

"Yeah, mate, why wouldn't I be?" Scorpius scoffed, running his fingers through his hair.

"You're obviously stressed out about Rosie," James walked over to the boys. "I'd say it's time you do something about your feelings for the girl, before someone else does."

"Feelings? For Weasley? You're kidding me. The girl is just a pretty face, nothing more. She doesn't interest me at all." Scorpius set his coffee cup down hard, almost breaking it. He was angry at the fact that James had said that and angry at the fact that he felt like he lied.

He stood to go upstairs but met eyes with Rose, who looked dumbstruck. Rose and a towel on her arm and had stopped as she heard Scorpius speak. Her eyes were wide and she just stared at Scorpius.

Scorpius wanted to take it all back in a second. If he knew she was there, he wouldn't have said a word. That's when he knew he did in fact fancy Rose Weasley. Denying it won't do him any good. His stomach twisted as he saw her deflate, she looked so hurt. He couldn't bring himself to say a word to her, although he wanted to. Anything to let her knew everything he said was a lie and he was, in fact, going mad for the girl.

"Uh, Rosie…" Albus started, scratching the back of his neck, "I didn't know you were there, did you…"

Her eyes broke away from Scorpius' and she looked at Albus, clearing her throat, "You haven't got any soap left?" she asked, her voice passive.

"The cabinet under the sink, on the right. It should be there," James answered, not looking at her.

She nodded, "Thank you," she responded, but she had glanced at Scorpius when she said that.

Scorpius opened his mouth to speak, but nothing came out, so he closed me. Rose pursed her lips and turned on her heels, quickly going back up the steps. Scorpius groaned, covering his face. James chuckled while Albus shook his head.

"What was that mate? Just a pretty face?" James mocked, heading up the stairs.

Scorpius looked at his best friend, "Al, what did James mean, when he said someone else does something about their feelings towards her?"

"You've got quite a competition," Albus started, but was interrupted by Scorpius.

"Me have competition? Al, have you seen me?" Scorpius said, pointing at himself.

"Scorp, have you seen how Rose sees you? She thinks you're an arrogant prick, and you are. You have to change that if you want her to like you," Albus crossed his arms, looking at Scorpius.

Scorpius rolled his eyes; he couldn't believe he was getting advice from Albus. "Whose my competition then? Steven? Please."

Albus almost smirked, "Zabini and Scamander. They both wrote to her this week. Scamander just a few days ago and she received an owl from Zabini this morning. I suspect it's an apology letter and I think he wants to make up for being a complete arsehole."

"And how exactly do you know this and I don't?"

"I'm also her closest friend, not just her cousin, Scorp," Albus chuckled.

"Find out more for me?" Scorpius asked him.

"I suppose I'll try. In the meantime, I've got a date with a very pretty girl and I have to get ready. With Lily and James gone today, looks like you're stuck with Rosie. Be nice and respectful. I don't want to come back to you shagging my cousin," Albus told him as he approached the stairs, "and be patient."

Scorpius rolled his eyes, "Whatever, have fun on your bloody date."

Outside he might've seemed calm, but inside; Scorpius was excited and nervous- which drove him absolutely mad.

Right when Rose got out the shower, Scorpius happened to reach the top of the stairs. She peeked out from the side of the door, not seeing Scorpius, and tip-toed out. She red her red towel around her and was going to Lily's room when she saw Scorpius and let out a small shriek.

"Bloody hell, Scorpius! I had no idea you were there! You scared me!" She exclaimed, breathing out.

Scorpius chuckled, "I apologize, mate, I wasn't trying to," he said, trying to look at only her eyes.

She smiled slightly and narrowed her eyes, "You're apologizing… This is strange, are you okay? Are you feeling well? Are you that kind of guy that has a kind heart when he's hungover?" She giggled and it nearly set Scorpius off.

He couldn't stop thinking about how amazing she sounded when she talked, not to mention giggle. Jeez, I fancy the girl a little and I think she's a goddess. Am I well? Scorpius shook his head and smiled back at the redhead.

"I'm just trying to be a nice person," he said, slowly walking over to Albus' room.

"What you said before wasn't very nice," Rose called out as she opened Lily's door.

"I'm sorry about that, too," Scorpius frowned, "I-"

"Save it."

And with that she disappeared into Lily's room. Scorpius groaned, he had thought she forgot about that. Just then, Lily got out her room and glared at Scorpius while she walked over to the bathroom.

"Prick." She muttered and slammed the bathroom door shut.

He rolled his eyes. A day alone with Rosie Weasley. This should be fun.

After about two hours, everyone left the house but Scorpius, Rose, and James. James was in his room listening to music while Scorpius sat on his bed in Albus' room, thinking hard with his hands covering his face, and Rosie sat cross-legged in the hallway playing with a ball of sparks she created.

Rose sighed, glancing at James' room, knowing him; he wasn't even going to answer the door if she knocked. She glanced at Albus' shut door, thinking about what Scorpius was doing in there. It was rather quiet in the house; all she heard was the sparks in her hand. She looked at Albus' door again, debating whether or not she should knock. She stopped paying attention to the parks so eventually they disappeared.

She sighed yet again and stood. She walked over to Albus' door and raised her hand to knock on it. She hesitated, and turned around, when she heard the door click and turned around, only to be facing Scorpius himself.

"Um, hey," Scorpius said, looking at her curiously.

"Hi," she responded quickly.

After a moment of silence, Scorpius cleared his throat, "You were standing outside the door?" he asked.

She tried not to turn red, "How did you…"

"Your shadow," he stated, his eyes laughing.

She smiled, "Oh. Right. Well, I'm bored and James won't answer his door and unfortunately I'm stuck with you." Scorpius leaned on the doorframe and crossed his arms, smirking at her. She rolled her eyes, "are you just going to stand there?"

"What do you want to do, Rosie?" Scorpius said quietly, leaning off the door frame and stepping close to her. "How do you want to be entertained?" he asked.

He was so close she could smell his minty breath and cologne. Rose tried not to react and turned her head slightly and took a half step back. Scorpius cocked his head to the side, looking at her curiously.

"You alright?" He asked, leaning forward and looking concerned, although a smile played on his lips. Which Rose realized she was staring at and looked back up at his silver eyes. "You look a little red…"

Rose narrowed her eyes and smiled, "I know what you're doing, Malfoy," she said, taking a step back.

Scorpius took a step forward, putting his hands behind his back and smiling, "And what am I doing, Weasley?" he asked her.

She took another step back, the suspicious look on her face not fading. "You're trying to seduce me."

Scorpius took another step forward; the smirk back on his face, the hallway was pretty narrow so Rose was against the wall by now. Scorpius had a plan, and it might work, and it might not.

"What makes you think I'm trying to seduce you?" He asked, tucking a stray red strand of hair behind her ear, barely touching her face.

She hoped he didn't see the goosebumps on her forearm. "Oh, just… intuition," she responded, a little nervous now.

"Well, I am, just for clarification."

Scorpius took a half step closer to the girl, who was pressed against the wall. He lifted his hand and was about to touch her arm when she pushed his arm away. He cocked his head to the side again smiling playfully at her and she almost melted.

"I can take your boredom away," he said, grabbed her by waist and pulling her close to him, making her yelp. He lowered his face down to her neck so she felt his lips on her skin as he said, "Only if you'd let me, of course, Weasley."

She shivered and quickly squirmed out of his grasp, stepping a couple feet away from him.

"What game are you playing at?" she asked, raising her voice. "You've hated me for six years, then, this summer, you- you make me cry, make me forgive you, and then you kissed me at Steven's party and then you call me just another pretty face and try to seduce me?"

Scorpius looked at her thoughtfully and then looked away, shrugging. She glared at him, balling her hands into fist.

"I can't really explain my actions, Rose."

"Is that it? And you expect me to just go along with it?" she exclaimed, throwing her arms in the air.

"I don't expect you to do anything."

"You are impossible, you know what?"

"I do. You're asking an awful lot of questions, mate."

"Mate?! You hated me for six years and then wanted to shag me just five minutes ago, don't call me Mate don't call me anything!"

"Now, now, I didn't say I wanted to shag you…"

"Do you want to shag me!?"

"Well, yeah, if you're asking me to shag you, I'd be happy to. You don't have to ask me twice. Would you like to get started now or...?"

"No, wait, I didn't mean it like… Scorpius, you are impossible! And not to mention insane!

"You said I was impossible already. Also, mate, I' m not insane just… A Malfoy."

"Are you trying to prove to me that you're not insane… because you're not helping."

"Listen, mate… Do you still want to shag or…?"

"Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy you are a bloody prick and I hate you."

"I know. I hate you, too."

Scorpius' playful smile made her smile. She groaned in frustration, leaving his presence and locking herself in Lily's room, leaving him with his hands behind his back and smiling.
