Recap:

"Move!" I scream, diving to the left of the bush. I look back to see everyone got out of the way of the blast… but that is not a normal dragon.

The Past's Not Always in the Past Chapter 22

Sabrina's POV

"What type of dragon is that!?" I scream to Puck, dodging another one of the dragon's icy blasts, sword in hand.

The dragon is decorated in swirly frost-like patterns. It's an ice-like sort of shiny blue, with white designs covering it. It's beautiful. And instead of breathing fire, like every dragon I've ever come across, it breathes ice. Whatever it sets it's aim on, immediately gets stuck in the dragon's icy blast, and either freezes to death in the ice block it was suddenly trapped in, or dies of lack of oxygen, I saw I squirrel get caught in a blast… I also notice a spiky collar around the dragon's neck, it's the kind that you would sometimes see a guard dog wearing, and I laugh to myself as I realize that's probably what this thing was to the Ice Queen.

I look over to Puck to hear his answer; and see amazement is written all over his face. Puck's eyes are wide and gleeful, with that twinkle of mischief that's always there; he has on a large smile that covers half his face. I don't think I've ever seen him this happy, he's happier than when granny makes her snake eggs stew, happier than when we defeated Mirror, even happier than when he met Baba Yaga!

"These things were everafter legend, I was told bedtime stories of them as a child! It was thought that they didn't exist, or at least were extinct." Puck said whacking the thing with his wooden sword, and then dodging a blast.

"Well what are the 'things'!?" I yell, "And do you know of any weaknesses!"

"It's an icegon!" Puck answers.

"Ahhhhh!" Andrew suddenly screams, as a blast of ice misses him by an inch.

"Shut up!" I yell at him. "Ray, get yourself and Andrew to the boat, get off the island. Go to my house, my family should be there, if not they are probably at the Mayor's!" I grunt as I try to dodge the icegon's foot as it swats at me, but no avail. It hits my legs and I go flying a few feet back slamming it to a tree behind me, banging my head pretty hard. Everything is a little fuzzy, but I shake it away, ignoring the pain in my now twisted ankle and head, that has now probably got a concussion.

I roll out of the way as the icegon tries to hit me when I'm down with another ice blast. "Tell my family what happened, get their help and tell them where we are!" I finish.

"But how will you guys get off the island!" Ray calls back concerned.

"Don't worry we have another way." Puck says smiling and winking at Ray. She looks confused, but I think she figures out it's another magic thing and nods then runs to the beach with Andrew in tow.

I stand up and see Puck bonk the thing on the head with his sword; I take advantage of its distraction and swipe across its thigh with my sword. I stand shocked as I see ice immediately start to cover the wound. The icegon then takes advantage of my distraction, as I did its, and sends another blast of ice my way, I try to dive out of the way, but I am not quick enough. My left hand gets hit, and is now stuck in it's own little block of ice.

My left hand feels like it's burning, severe frostbite, I think to myself. I roll under the dragon and out the other side. Puck is distracting it once again, so I try to smash the ice off my hand on a near by rock. But it doesn't even make a dent. Stupid magic ice, I think bitterly.

"It was hit my hand, Puck!" I yell to him.

"Your right one?" He asks concerned, knowing I'm a righty.

"No, my left one. But it's magic ice that can't just be smashed off, and any wound you make to the icegon will immediately just heal." I answer.

"Great!" Puck replies sarcastically, dodging the icegon's swipes at him in the air, he is now using his wings since Ray and Andrew are gone.

"So what are we going to do? What are its weaknesses?" I ask letting Puck continue what he's doing, knowing I can't help him right now.

"I imagine it isn't a fan of heat." Puck says.

"Your right, but making a fire will take to long." I respond

"Well I don't know then." Puck says.

I look over at the collar that I noticed on it earlier. Maybe I could knock it out by suffocating it, I think to myself.

I notice that it's to tall for me to get on top of, so I just tell Puck what I was thinking, "Try blocking it's wind pipe!" I yell to him.

"What?!" he yells back.

I roll my eyes and repeat what I said in a way he'll understand, "Try suffocating it, you know, get it in a head lock!"

"Oh… Got it!" He flies above the icegon, straddles its shoulders, slithers his arms around its large neck, locks his hands together, and starts squeezing.

I wince to myself as I see the icegon start thrashing, and see Puck being whipped around like he weighs nothing. The icegon then realizes that's not working, opens its wings, flies up into the sky and does a bunch of loop-d-loops until I see Puck get whipped off of the thing. Puck opens his wings, and starts flying towards me, but I see the icegon flying after him.

"Watch out!" I yell just in time, because Puck immediately swerves out of the way of an ice blast. Puck then just starts flying around dodging the icegon's blasts towards him, and trying to get the thing off his tail.

"Well that didn't work! Anymore ideas?!" Puck yells as he zips by me.

"Um… The icegon is basically the Ice Queen's guard dog right!? And guard dogs sometimes have whistles that control them, so maybe there's something that can control the icegon?!" I yell to Puck.

Puck doesn't say anything for a few seconds, and just continues to avoid the icegon's blasts but then finally says, "That's it! Grimm, go in the Ice Queen's house and see if you can a gold bracelet with a big blue jewel on it! If you find it, put it on!"

"Would if she's in there?!" I yell to him.

"She would have probably come outside by now if she was!" He yells to me.

I realize he's right and at that I start sprinting towards the ice palace as fast I can with a twisted ankle, praying that the icegon doesn't see me because no doubt he'd go after me because that's his job as a guard… icegon. Crap, I jinxed it! I think to myself as the icegon stops chasing Puck to come after me.

It's above me, shooting its ice blasts down at me and I try to sprint down the walk way made of ice that leads to the front door of the palace, it's harder that I originally thought, running on ice and dodging blasts of ice at the same time with a twisted ankle.

I jump backwards when I see the icegon land right in front of me, blocking the front door of the ice palace, facing me. It suddenly lets out a loud growl, repositions it's feet so it is in a firm position, and lets out a huff.

I see the icegon take in a big breath and that's how I know it's about to blast me again so I run forward and duck under it, sliding down the ice path, just like I did yesterday with Uncle Jake, during the football game.

I run into the house before the icegon could turn around. I quickly scan the area, I walked into an open kitchen-TV room thing, and I notice all the furniture is made out of ice, including, what looks like a dog bed. But, the place looks ransacked, I mean the furniture is not turned over, but all the drawers and cabinets are open and empty. I guess the Ice Queen grabbed what she needed and got out of Ferryport.

I don't spend to long dwelling on that, I'm to busy searching for the bracelet Puck described to me, There is a hallway out of the TV room, as I jog down it I see a bathroom, a door that leads down some stairs, a closet, and some stairs that lead upstairs on the left side. On the right is a big opening that leads into a joined formal living room-dining room thing.

When I realize none of these rooms have what I looking for, I go upstairs. As I go up the steps I realize something is shuffling downstairs and I sprint the rest of the way up the stairs as best I can. Once I get up there I see the master bedroom in front of me, and see three other bedrooms down another hallway a bit and a bathroom too. I run into the master bedroom and see there's a king size Ice bed with snow on top right next to me. There is a walk-in closet and bathroom on the right side of the room and a big nice window on the left. Across from the bed is a dresser with a big mirror on top of it. I notice on top of the dresser are the bracelet and a green note I read the note, it says…

Dear Whom it May Concern,

You have found one of the Elemental Family's treasures, The Bracelet of Icegon Myth. I have left it on purpose, for if you have found this, you deserve to have ownership of it and Firstly, my-or I guess now, your- icegon because you have gotten past her. She is the first and last icegon, yes, the icegon of myth, the icegon you heard about when you were a child. I protected Firstly ever since I freed her. The only way to kill an icegon is to get them to fly into a volcano, which seems impossible, but there was once a time where if you killed an icegon, you were considered a warrior above all others, so all but one went extinct and they faded into legend. Icegon's don't need to eat, but they like to. Firstly especially likes chocolate. She can live in any climate; it doesn't have to be cold. I put a spell on her so if she wants to go into any building or house; she shrinks to the size of a Great Dane. Icegon's have healing abilities; she can heal any wound that wasn't caused magically by just licking it. If you are reading this, you obviously went looking for the bracelet; therefore you know what it does, so I don't need to explain that. But, unlike the legend says, the bracelet does not contain 'incredible power' or any magic at all. It's a regular (very expensive) bracelet. But like it says in the legend, if you wear it, Firstly will do whatever you say but not because of magic. You see, icegon's are extremely intelligent, and usually gentle, I explained to Firstly that I was leaving Ferryport and would not becoming back for at least a very, very long time, and that she couldn't come with us. The bracelet doesn't mark you, or me, as her owner, when I freed Firstly from the ice (with my powers, not the bracelet, as said in legend,) Firstly recognized my act of kindness, and bowed down to me, making it her duty to try to please me in any way she could. So when I told her I was leaving Ferryport, I told her, "Do not let anyone in the house, using any means necessary, but if they do make it through, and find the bracelet I wore when I freed you, and put it on, you listen to them as if it were me. They will become your new owner. You will live with them and will please them in any way you can and never leave them." So if you decide you want that responsibility, and ownership of Firstly, put on the bracelet. But if not, leave it where it is, and leave the island she will not follow you. If you put it on, please take care of my baby.

Yours truly,

The Ice Queen.

P.S. If you are wondering about all the ice, cold to you is warm to my family and I.

I stand there contemplating whether or not I should do it, I mean I don't have to, the note said so. I pause for another second and put on the bracelet.

I walk downstairs cautiously; I walk down the hallway and into the TV room and lying on the dog bed is a shrunken icegon. Firstly gets up and comes over to me, she eyes the bracelet around my wrist and then jumps on top of me licking my face.

"Firstly! Firstly! Get off girl!" I yell at her, laughing.

"Grimm!" Puck yells sprinting inside, his sword out ready to attack Firstly. Puck looks dirty, ragged, and tired, I'm sure I look the same.

"Calm down Fairyboy, she's okay now."

Firstly growls at Puck, "No, Firstly, Puck's okay."

"Come on, let's go home." I say to Puck and we walk outside together, Firstly trailing behind us. "Wait you go ahead, I got to get something." I tell to Puck.

I run back up to the master bedroom and take the note, folding it carefully and slipping in my secret pocket. I squeeze my sword once again, shrinking it and put it in with the note, and I take my dagger and put it back in my shoe.

Firstly is waiting patiently at the door for me. I sit on her, even though she's still tiny, because I can tell she can take my weight, or even my Dad's weight, even shrunken like she is. She walks outside with me on her back and grows to her normal size.

"Whoa." I turn and see Puck smiling at Firstly.

"Hey, Firstly, do you think you could fix this?" I say holding my hand covered in ice out to Firstly. She licks it till the ice is gone. My hand feels normal again, like it wasn't in a block of ice two second ago. And I'm grateful for that, I thought I might have to get it amputated or something. I stretch my hand and say, "Thanks, girl. Could you fix this one too?" I say, petting Firstly's head and unwrapping the wound I got saving Daphne at Mr. Applebee's. She just licks that hand until there's no sign of a wound on that one either. She then fixes my ankle and head too.

I see Puck is staring at us with his mouth open, "Cool!" he says grinning.

"Got any wounds you want fixed?" I ask Puck.

"Um… no. But could I have a lift, I am really tired, ya know, since I was flying around avoiding an icegon for the past hour or so…" Puck says winking at Firstly, she licks his face and he just laughs.

I nod and Puck flies up on top of Firstly and straddles her like I already am. I grab the back of Firstly's collar as Puck wraps his arms around my waste.

I try to fight the blush creeping up my neck, but lose the battle. I realized I liked Puck, and came to terms with it when I woke up Puck from the Sleeping curse. I try not to act any difference like Puck said he wanted, but I don't think I always do that great of a job. I try not to think about how Puck doesn't like me back, or how he hates me… it just hurts too much.

"Up." I command Firstly. She starts flying and I laugh, it's not flying with Puck, it's a little more free.

"So Puck, why were you telling the girl with a magic addiction to put on a bracelet that supposedly had 'incredible power'." I ask him smiling.

"Well it worked out didn't it?" Puck says.

"Yeah, but you're missing the point Puck. That could have ended badly for everyone, not just me." I say, my smile disappearing.

"I'm sorry, Grimm, I guess I just forgot about it." He says looking down.

I sigh and mutter, "Yeah, it's fine."

"Hey look at the stars." Puck says pointing up.

Wow. I think to myself. "Yeah, that's one thing I definitely don't miss about the city, not being able to see the stars."

"Do you still want to leave here?" He asks me.

"Sometimes, but it's not about not liking Ferryport Landing anymore, it's about missing the city." I say and Puck stays silent for a few minutes.

"Why did you say I didn't know the real Andrew? What's your past with him?" Puck asks suddenly. I feel my mouth go dry and my grip on Firstly's collar tighten.

This is the longest chapter I've written in a long time, I hope you liked it; it took a really long time to write.

Funfact #1: I'm starting fun facts today

Funfact #2: I was going to say that the Ice Queen wrote her note on a sticky-note but then I realized it's way to long to fit of a tiny stick-note

Funfact #3: I hate Taylor Swift but was listening to her song '22' because this is chapter 22 and I thought it was appropriate.
