Recap:

"Why did you say I didn't know the real Andrew? What's your past with him?" Puck asks suddenly. I feel my mouth go dry and my grip on Firstly's collar tighten.

The Past's Not Always in the Past Chapter 23

Sabrina's POV

"I don't really feel comfortable answering that question…" I say honestly.

"Well, Grimm, I'm trying to do what you said… Put family over friends… I'm am trying to trust you, but you are giving me no reason to, you are keeping things from me. I know you know Andrew better than I do, so tell me what I'm missing." Puck says.

"I really don't like people knowing… The story makes me seem weak and helpless… which I'm not. And I really don't like thinking about what happened… it makes me upset and angry." I reply.

"Grimm, believe me… I know you aren't weak and helpless, I mean a few weeks ago you defeat the leader of The Scarlet Hand and lead an army into battle… And Grimm, I need to know." He says sincerely.

I sigh and say, "It's a long story…"

"I've got time." He replies.

"Yeah, but does our family? I bet they are trying to get to the island right now."

"Well then lets go find them, tell them we're fine, and then you can tell me your little story." Puck says.

I sigh and turn Firstly around. "Why are you being so nice?" I ask him.

"I see how you act around Andrew, you are always on guard. I see you and Marshmallow aren't sleeping in your room anymore. And you don't smile around Andrew at all. I can take a hint." Puck says. "And I want to know why."

He thinks about me more than I thought. I think to myself. I grunt and say, "If I tell you, you have to promise to tell no one. Honestly, if I tell you, you can't use it as blackmail, you can't use this information against me or to hurt me." I say seriously.

"I promise, Grimm. I won't tell a soul or use it as blackmail." Sincerity is plastered on Puck's face, so I nod, and start explaining.

"Well, did Andrew tell you about the I.B.R.?" I ask Puck.

"He mentioned it once, but I don't know what it is." Puck says.

"Okay another long story short, Daph and I escaped from a foster home, and ran to the Bronx, where I met John and his older brother, Schmidty. As you know, they own a boxing gym, so I asked Schmidty to train me. I quickly became good, and won many matches, that's when I heard about the I.B.R." I pause waiting for Puck to say something and when I am met with silence I continue.

"During one of the matches I heard about the I.R.B., the Illegal Boxing Ring of New York. I heard you got money for winning matches, and Daphne and I weren't really eating at that time… And money buys food. I went to one of the close rings and that's where I met Ray, she was boxing there also, she was one of the only girls there beside myself. We became instant friends." I see we are approaching Main Street and so I say to Puck, "Hold on a sec."

I see the death trap we call a car zooming down the street towards the marina. I swoop Firstly down so we are level with the car windows. Uncle Jake is driving, my Dad and Mom are next to him and Red, Andrew, Ray, and Mr. Canis are in the back, the inside is huge, Uncle Jake must have used that magic stuff again.

I knock on Uncle Jakes window and he glances at Puck, Firstly, and I, then looks back at the road and then back at us, and then at the road, and then slams on the brakes. Puck and I start laughing. I tell Firstly to land and she does.

We climb off of her as everyone climbs out of the car.

"How?"

"We thought you were being attacked!"

"Whoa that thing is huge!"

"We thought the icegon was attacking you. Why are you riding it?"

"Well this is interesting."

All these questions and comments start to pile up and I am unable to keep track of who's saying what any more. "Whoa, whoa, whoa. I'll tell you guys the whole story when we get home, Puck and I are pretty tired from fighting an icegon for an hour and a half." I say petting Firstly and she nuzzles in to my hand.

"Alright, but just know that you are grounded, young lady." I whip around when I hear my Dad say that.

"What?" I ask confused, I don't think I did anything wrong, and it's kind of strange, leading an army into battle and a few weeks later be grounded… I guess that just how my life is.

"You ran off in the dark not telling us where you were going, and this is still a dangerous town, I heard about what happened at Mr. Applebee's from Daphne. I also heard you broke Andrew's nose. Now Sabrina, you know this is unacceptable behavi-"

"But Andrew broke mine!" I interrupt my Dad, not thinking about what I just said, once I realize what I said I slapped my hand over my mouth.

"What?" My Dad says.

I run up to Firstly, and she bends her wing down to help me up on to her. She lifts her wing up once I step on. I then walk up her back and straddle her shoulders and I grab her collar. "Sabrina, come back here!" I hear my Dad yell.

"I am not that normal little nine year old you remember. I took care of myself and Daphne way to long to go right back to doing whatever you say!" I yell at him and the command Firstly, "Up."

It's really unfair of Dad to treat me this way. He can't face how much of my life he missed. He doesn't realize that even though I'm only thirteen, I almost completely grown up.

Firstly and I head for my tree house, but I hear a familiar flapping behind me, and then, again feel arms wrap around my torso and feel a heat against my back.

"Did they send you?" I ask grumpily, not looking back at him once.

"No… Well yes, but that not why I came. They told me to get you and bring you home, but I'm not going to do that. I came for the rest of that story." Puck says.

"Alright then." I whisper, but then say nothing for a minute and start telling the rest of the story.

I explain to Puck how I got my nickname, and how a few months later I beat Andrew. I told him what he said to me after the match, and how he attacked my in the alley. I explained to Puck that they took me to an apartment building tied me up and beat the crap out of me, I didn't give him the details, I just said I had a dislocated shoulder, broken nose, five broken ribs, and a concussion after words. I told him how I threw up and got knocked out two times.

What I didn't tell Puck is that the worst part of it all, it wasn't him beating me up, it was because of the concussion, broken ribs, and dislocated shoulder, I didn't get to get back in the ring for six months, which meant watching Daphne get thinner and thinner each day. John and Schmidty tried to feed us, but it was a hard time for them too. I didn't tell Puck about Chris what so ever either, I replaced her with 'a buddy of Andrew's'. I tried to tell Puck the least I could with out being vague.

By the time I finished the tree house was ten miles behind us, and my head was in my hands and I was slumped against Puck, and he was holding me.

"So you're saying, when you were only ten, a fourteen-year-old beat the crap out of you while you were tied to a chair, so you could do nothing about it?" Puck finally says five minutes after I finished my story.

"Not a fourteen-year-old… Andrew."

"That bastard!" Puck growls, and I gasp; Puck has never used that type of language before.

"So you believe me?" I ask him, already assuming he does.

"Of course Grimm, I just met the dude, besides… You're family." That's when I realize what's been going on. I had a small bubble of hope that Puck might have liked me back because of how he's been treating me this past hour… But that bubble just popped. He's been treating me like a sister.

I sigh and sit up straight, which stops me from leaning on Puck. I feel the absence of heat on my back as I turn Firstly around and head back to the house.

"Would you like to hear a story?" Puck asks me.

"That depends… What type of story." I respond.

"How about a legend, The Icegon Myth." He says, and Firstly perks up at that.

"Yep, it looks like Firstly wants to hear it." Puck says petting her, "So what about Grimm?" Puck says nudging me.

"Alright Fairyboy, lets hear it." I respond, nudging him back.

"Okay then," He says, and then starts.

"Once Upon a Time, there was a family of elementals, the Mother controlling the sky, the Father controlling the oceans, the daughter controlling the state of water and water itself, a son controlling fire, and the other son controlling minerals. The Mother was a Queen and the Father a King. The Mother and Father were needed back in the sky once again, so they were preparing their eldest, and most stubborn, son to take power. Terra was the son's name and he could control all minerals."

I snuggle back up against Puck as I feel my eyelids becoming heavy. "Ignis, their youngest son, who could control fire… was a bit of a hot head. He often forgot his place and spoke out against his brother to his father, hoping they might give him the crown instead. No matter how hard Ignis tried, his brother claimed the crown in the end, when their parents finally left earth. But before the parents left, they gave each of their children a special gift. The daughter, Glacies, who always had a special relationship with all animals got a beautiful bracelet that held incredible power; and gave her the ability to talk to all animals. The blue stone that decorated the gold bracelet was supposedly found in the deepest part of the southern most ocean."

Puck twiddles with my bracelet as he tells me that part. My eyes close finally, leaving me to focus on the rumble in Puck's chest as he talks, his rhythmic breathing, and his smooth melodic voice. I let Puck guide Firstly back to the house as he continues speaking.

"Terra got the power he'd been preparing for, the crown, and a castle which was situated inside the tallest mountain on earth. Ignis got an animal guide, which was an animal that would never leave his side, and help him make good decisions. His animal guide was the first of it's kind, forged in the fire of the hottest volcano… a dragon. Ignis never named the dragon, or cared for it at all, to upset with the fact that his brother had the power that he'd dreamt about having all his life. What made Ignis so different from his cool and collected sister and stubborn brother, is that he believed that they're powers were great enough, and they didn't need any thing else. Ignis believed he deserved the power that his parents were leaving to Terra; and he thought it was unfair that he wasn't getting the power but his brother was. Even as a young child Ignis knew his power wasn't as great as his sibling's. Glacies was always better at the snowball fights they had, either freezing them so they were ice right before they hit her brothers or turn them to water to soak them, and she could fire a million with the flick of her hand. Terra could make any thing out of the ground in right in front of him, always making the coolest sandcastles and best mud pies. So Ignis did not feel as gifted as his siblings, he could only make a fire bigger or smaller, create a fire or put one out; he could carry fire anywhere, and create lightning. He did not feel as gifted, his control over fire could not help him in his every day life, besides cooking, and therefore not helpful at all in Ignis's mind."

I yawn and smile, thinking about what a spoiled brat Ignis must have been as Puck continues. "So once their parents left, Terra and Glacies knowing of their other brother's jealousy, went their separate ways; Glacies to the south, near where her rock was found, Terra to his castle, and Ignis to where his dragon was forged, the hottest volcano on earth. Several years later though, Terra received an invitation to his brothers volcano for a dinner, and of course he went, missing his brother's company and being sure that he got over his jealously, it being so many years later. Terra went to the dinner, surprised that his sister did not want to attend. Terra and Ignis had a lovely dinner together, catching up on different things. When Ignis asked Terra if he wanted to see the island that his volcano house sat upon from an aerial view. Terra said he would love to, and they took a ride on Ignis's dragon. When they were right above the volcano Ignis pushed Terra in, knowing that Terra's power could not save him at that height."

"And your mother told you this story when you were a child, next in line for the throne of Faerie?" I interrupt.

"Yes," Puck laughs, "Now, shh."

I keep my mouth closed and he continues on with the story. "But as Terra fell, the dragon swooped down, with Ignis still on it's back to try and catch Terra, knowing that letting Ignis, his evil owner, push him off was not the right thing to do. The dragon was not quick enough though, and Terra plunged into the lava, ending his life, without even a scream. Ignis was furious at his dragon and plotted a proper punishment."

I feel a smile grace my lips as Puck pulls me closer to him. "Ignis went to his sister in tears, making sure he went at a time she wasn't wearing the bracelet their parents gave Glacies; telling her that Terra wanted for him and Ignis to get together and catch up at his island. He told her that Terra wanted to go to the top of the volcano to see the gorgeous view Ignis told Terra about earlier in the day, during dinner. Ignis told Glacies that when Terra, himself, and his dragon got to the top, the dragon pushed Terra into the volcano. Glacies, too stricken with grief from the loss of her brother, could not think straight. So when her brother told her to freeze the dragon in a block of ice, so it may not hurt anyone else, she did so with no questions asked. That night though, their parents came to Glacies in her dreams, and told her what really happened to her brother. Her parents told her to freeze Ignis instead of the dragon, and take the dragon as her own animal guide. Glacies's parents gave her the power that was original passed to Terra, making her The Ice Queen. The next day The Ice Queen invited her brother over and she told him that she knew he murdered their other brother, and before he had a chance to react she froze him. The Ice Queen then walked over to where she froze the dragon, put on her bracelet and freed it from it's ice cage. But before she did, the Queen noticed the dragon change to a beautiful blue color with white designs on it, instead of being red with orange and yellow designs. The Queen gave the dragon a proper name, and a few days later found out that the dragon no longer breathed fire, but ice instead; at that realization, the Queen knew it wasn't a dragon anymore and decided to call the breed icegons. Ignis is still stuck in his icy prison, waiting for the day he will get freed while The Ice Queen and her icegon live happily ever after. The end."

Puck's POV

I whisper the last two sentences realizing that Grimm drifted off to sleep. She looks so much more peaceful… and not angry when she's asleep. Her life was harder than I thought it was, I mean at ten she was dealing with starvation, raising and protecting Marshmallow, and protecting herself at the same time.

What Andrew did was crazy and uncalled for, he's a psychopath. I am going to beat him to a pulp and prank him till he can't see straight. Why did Grimm even let him stay with us? And why is he even here? What does he want? I guess I will have to wait to ask Grimm in the morning. I think to myself.

I look back on the day I just spent with Grimm; I realize I'm being nicer to her than normal. I think it's because I like-like her. I mean I don't want to, and I'm not even sure I do… I mean I've never liked someone like that before… There's just something special and different about Grimm. Trust me, if I had a choice, I would hate Grimm with a passion… But I don't, I like to her and someday we are going to get married and have a million babies. I've come to face that fact… And I'm okay with it.

But there is one big downside to liking Grimm, besides the fact that I'm growing up. It's that she can hurt me… Unlike anyone else, and it's not like a scrape or a broken bone, it's not physical. She does it with her words, and it doesn't heal or go away on it's own… Grimm has to take it back, or apologize. It's in my chest and it's not like anything I've felt before. It's awful.

I got that pain today when Grimm said I was her family, family, as in, brother, I don't want to be her brother! Or Uncle… which I technically I am. I want to be her- nope, never mind, not going there just yet. Anyway, it hurt, and it's going to very awkward if she still thinks of me that way when we get married and make a million babies. Especially when we make a million babies.

I realize we are about a minute away from the house and I focus on flying. When we get there I land Firstly, pick up Grimm by putting one of my arms under her knees, and other behind her back. I slide off Firstly and open the front door with Grimm still in my arms.

I am met a bunch of worried adult faces. I see Henry quickly becomes angry, before he has a chance to say anything I whisper, "Can we do this in the morning, Grimm's exhausted." Veronica then puts a hand on Henry's shoulder and nods, answering for everyone.

I notice Firstly shrunk down and followed me inside. He follows me upstairs and into Grimm and Marshmallow's room. I put Grimm on the bed right next to a loudly snoring Marshmallow and take her shoes and socks off, chuckling when I see her dagger in her left shoe. I then pull the blankets over her and tuck them around her.

"Night, Grimm." I whisper petting Firstly and leaving the room, shutting the door behind me.

I hoped you liked 'The Icegon Myth' I made it up myself :D And the myth is supposed to be really predictable, it's a fairytale/legend.

This is another really long chapter. I hope you liked it. I put some Puckabrina in there ;)

Tell me if Puck was way too OOD I really tried to make it so he liked her, and admitted to himself with out making it seem really un-Puck-like.

BTW eight is the most reviews I've ever gotten so THANKS GUYS YIPPIE!
