"Mommy" Kyla woke from another nightmare "MOMMY!"
"Shuuu Kyla, everything is fine now." Kono took her in her arms, cradling her, silencing the compulsive cries of her daughter, since they had tried to break into her room.
The nightmares had begun in the early days when she only slept in the parents' bed. Now she woke up without her father or mother there, and she got frightened and scared.
"Everyting is fine now...I swear Kyla, nothing is going to happen to you my keiki, aloha'oe"
Kono kissed her daughter's forehead and cradled her in his arms once more, the girl was no longer crying but still hugged Kono hard.
"Kyla, mommy is going to surf, do you come with me or stay here with daddy?"
"I want to go with you Mommy!" Kyla almost screams.
"Shu Daddy is still asleep!"
"Don't worry honey, I'm not anymore" Steve shows up at his daughter's doorstep, he was smiling at them.
"Morning Daddy" Kyla greet him with a smile "Wanna surf daddy?"
"Why not? It's seems a very nice idea for a Christmas morning!" He wrapped an arm around Kono's waist. He kisses her cheek, they were a truly happy family.
They almost spent two hours in the sea teaching Kyla more surf tricks, but since Danno, Grace, Kamekona and Chin were coming home for dinner, Kono need to set things up for them. Steve helped her with almost everything. They planned a very simple and traditional Hawaiian dinner, mostly to show Grace and Kyla how it's suppose to be.
Last year Kyla had got flu and Kono had to spend the day with her in the hospital, and the year before that Kyla was only two year old, and she was to small for understanding anything at all.
"Kamali'i wahine cousin" Chin says after walking at Kono's house.
He was now holding Kyla in his arms, and the relationship between the two of them was so sweet and kind. Chin always loved and protect Kyla from everything, almost like she was his own child, he had helped Kono during her pregnancy at nineteen, and even after that, he and Kono had been teaching Kyla how to talk hawaiian, and she was getting really good at it, and Chin couldn't be more proud of her.
"Cousin you're early!" Kono says to him "This still looks like a mess!"
"That why I come early, so I could help you!" Chin said.
"Oh no, I invited you, you can play with Kyla, and take her to the beach, we're doing everything."
"Oh I also bring you this, your favorite chocolate cake with raspberry."
"You know me too well!" She says to him "Now go play with Kyla, Steve is outside preparing the barbecue.
"Come one little Honu, let go to the beach"
After a while Kamekona came with two boxes filled with shrimp, and he brought ice-cream. Kono also told him to join Steve outside, everything was beautiful decor for their Christmas dinner, The night was chill and they had a wonderfully bright sky above them.
Gracie and Danno brought some dessert, and Kono had a special flower necklace for Gracie.
"Thanks Kono" She says "Can I play with Kyla?"
"Yes honey, she is outside, go play with her" Gracie ran out the door to Kyla.
Danno greeted Kono with a kiss on the cheek. "Thanks for the invitation, it means a lot to me and Grace."
"You're welcome, it was important to me to be surrounded by my ohana, and you guys are ohana for me"
"I'll help you" Danno said picking up some things and carrying them to the table that was prepared outside for their Christmas dinner.
"Your navy seal boyfriend is to occupied trying to burn our dinner" Danno rants on.
Kono simply laughs, because they are her ohana, and their the best thing she could ever ask for.
