The Doctor, Marissa and I ran into the TARDIS to avoid getting hit by the family's guns. The Doctor slammed the door shut.
"Did they see you?" he asked. Marissa and I looked at each other and then back to the Doctor.
"Did they see you?" he asked again almost shouting.
"I don't think so." I finally answered. The Doctor ran to the Center controls, pulled out a fob watch and held it up. The family kept shooting at the TARDIS, making it shake out of control almost knocking us all over.
"You two trust me don't you?"
"With our lives." I answered without consulting with Marissa.
"Good cause this all comes down to you two. I'm going to become human."
I opened my eyes and shook my head to come back to reality. It's been a couple of days since that happened. The Doctor actually turned himself into a human. The bad part about that was that he forgot about our relationship, that he loved me more than anything. To his human self, whose name is John Smith, we're mere acquaintances. The Doctor, or John Smith signed up to be a history teacher at an all boys school. Did I forget to mention that we're stuck in nineteen-thirteen? Marissa and I enrolled ourselves as maids. I'm a personal maid for Mr. Smith, go figure. Marissa's allowed to come and help me which is nice but the two of us barely see each other because of our duties. I never worked so hard in my life. Mom thought I was lazy, she should see me now. I knocked on Mr. Smith's door and entered.
"Morning Mr. Smith." I said with a big smile.
"Morning Jade. Say I had this strange dream last night and you were in it."
It was weird hearing him say my name with the Doctor's voice because the Doctor would always call me sweetheart or some other cute nickname.
"Oh, and what were we doing in the dream sir?" curiosity was taking over me.
"Well, I was a time traveler and you were my companion, more than my companion really, you were my lover." my heart stopped. He's remembering, a little bit.
"Also, your friend Marissa was there as another companion. We were in the year two thousand and twelve I believe."
"Well I can guaranteed this is nineteen-thirteen, through the morning paper."
Marissa must've brought the paper in earlier. Mr. Smith gladly read the date.
"As it does." he smiled. I finished my duties in his room and decided to take a
lovely walk to the barn where the TARDIS was hiding in. The air was bitter cold, I had my shaw wrapped around my arms. I thought if the Doctor was here, he'd have his arms around me and the sound of his two beating hearts would be loud against my ears. Even though it's been a couple of days and because of me being so focused on work I kind of forgot what the TARDIS even looked like. I opened the barn's door and saw the magnificent time machine. It looked bare and lonely, maybe it could use some of my company. I pulled out the key and slowly unlocked it. The room was cold like the air outside. I looked for the switch and the lights roared on to life. I missed the TARDIS and I hoped it missed me too. I walked over to the center controls and let my hand gently glide over all of the buttons. I don't see how the Doctor could fly this thing, it looked so complicated. My hand stopped at the small television and moved to the play button. The Doctor's face appeared on the screen. My hand touched his cheek on the screen. He had that amazing smile that I love on his face.
"Alright I'm going to leave a few instructions for you two. One, don't let me hurt anyone, you know how humans can be. Two, dont worry about the TARDIS I'll put it in a sleeping mode so just let it hide away. Four, no, three, don't mess with historical events. Four, don'tlet me abandon you two. I care about you two more than anything. Another thing, keep an eye on that watch, everything about me is in that watch. Don't worry about my human self finding about it, to him it's just a watch. When the time's right, I want you two to open it..." I skipped to the very end of the video where he had personal messages for us.
"Marissa, please don't let Jade make my human self fall in love with her again it would just be too complicated and I don't want the family of blood to get in the way." my heart was pounding knowing that my personal message was up next.
"Jade, I love you more than anything. I would give up my life for you. Okay that's a little dramatic but it's true. Also, I'm terribly sorry if my human self hurts you in anyway. Even though he forgot about our love, I haven't. Please don't give up on me. Just remember that my time lord self still loves you. It kills me knowing I have to be away from you. Please, behave and listen to Marissa's advice. I'll see you in a couple of days. I love you both take care." he finished with an air kiss and the the television went blank. I was on the verge of crying, I missed my time lord dearly, I missed hearing his two beating hearts. I looked up at the ceiling and saw the helmet the Doctor used to make himself human. I closed my eyes and looked back at the time when he used it.
"Is it even possible to turn into a human?" Marissa asked.
"Nothing is impossible my dear" The Doctor pulled the helmet down. I walked closer to him and placed my hand on his shoulder.
"Will it hurt?" My eyes looked up at him passionately.
"Oh of course it will hurt. It's changing every cell in my body." He gave me a kiss on my forehead and then my lips. He waved Marissa to come over and kissed her hand.
"You take care of each other alright?" we both nodded as he put the helmet over his head and turned it on.
"Stand back." The Doctor ordered. Marissa grabbed my shoulders and pulled me away. The Doctor looked at me for the last time and began to scream in agony. I moved closer to Marissa and she hugged me tightly. I was almost in tears while watching the love of my life turn into a human. I wanted to run up and hug him but who knew what could've happened. My eyes closed and I was back. I wanted to tear that thing down but I had to stay calm for the Doctor. I had to stay focused. Suddenly the TARDIS door opened and Marissa came in. We looked at each other for a little bit and then I ran into her arms.
"What are you doing here?" I asked with a big smile.
"I missed the TARDIS and I thought it was lonely." My jaw dropped to the floor.
"Is this a coincidence? I thought the same thing!" there was a moment of silence except for the sound of the wind coming from the corridors. We sat on these chairs near the controls and talked.
"You know, he's remembering us a little bit more. He told me that we were in his dreams last night and that we were his companions. He even remembers that we were dating!"
"Wow that's awesome but remember we're not suppose to help him because of the family."
"I know but it's still nice to know I was in one of his dreams!"
The two of us talked for two hours about our jobs and what we thought about the school. After talking, I turned off the TARDS' lights and locked it with my key. Marissa walked with me until we got to the school. I returned to Mr. Smith's room. The boys must be heading to their classes because they were crowding the halls. When I got to his room, I opened the door and found him with a woman stitching his head.
"Jade what did I say about knocking?" Before thinking about it, I ran back to the door and knocked on it. Without waiting for an answer I walked back in.
"What happened to him?" I asked placing my hand on his shoulder. The middle-aged woman gave me a little death glare.
"He fell down the stairs." she sighed. I gave him a teasing look.
"I had a little tumble is all." Mr. Smith was trying to act high and mighty. I turned to the woman who was stitching him. Who was she? It won't matter when he turns back into a time lord, then he's all mine again. The woman was finally done and noticed a book lying on his desk.
"What's this?" she asked with a huge smile on her face. Mr. Smith walked over and opened the book.
"It's a journal of the dreams I've been having. Where I'm a time traveler." he laughed. My heart stopped for a moment. The woman looked through the pages, at the Doctor 's, Marissa's and my adventures! She had a huge smile on her face. I didn't know if she was amused or amazed at all of them. I looked over their shoulders and saw a picture Mr. Smith drew of the two of us. My head was resting on his shoulder and his head was laying on mine. It looked like I was sleeping and the Doctor's eyes were fixed on me. I had no idea that the Doctor could draw. Around the drawing were scribbles. The old woman turned to me and had a half of smile.
"Oh in my dreams the two of us, are companions." Mr. Smith explained.
"Looks like MORE than companions Mr. Smith" the woman chuckled. This was no laughing matter. The next page had a drawing of Marissa and I laughing.
"These girls seem to be in your dreams a lot sir" the woman pointed out.
"They're my companions" Mr. Smith sounded annoyed by repeating it over and over. I stopped doing my work and walked over to look at the journal. I know Mr. Smith wouldn't mind, I am his friend after all. Through the pages were pictures of the Daleks, cyber men, Clock monsters, all of the monster the Doctor told me about, because of his skill of explaining things in perfect detail, I knew exactly what the monsters looked like. The lady stopped at a really small picture of the TARDIS.
"Oh, that's the thing I traveled in, the TARDIS. Time and relative dimension in space. I saw the world with this." I hated that he was showing this to another woman.
"I'm finished with my chores Mr. Smith, I shall be on my way."
"Thank you darling, very well."
I stopped at the door way for a split second and then walked away. It's been a couple of days since I heard him call me that. I heard footsteps from behind me and turned around. The woman who Mr. Smith was talking to came up to me, she had the journal in her hands.
"You know that's all rubbish, it's not real" was the first thing I said that came to mind.
"I know, but it's fascinating. But I do want to talk to you about something. You seem to talk to Mr. Smith with familiarity. You ARE a maid you do realize so do know where you stand." the woman twisted around and marched away.
"Yes ma'am" I mocked with her back turned. I traveled the hallways of the school until I found the perfect corner to sit. I crouched and wrapped my arms around my legs with my head dug in my arms and began to cry. Who did that woman think she is? I hated Mr. Smith for talking to her. We're going to be leaving in a couple of days. He's falling in love with a human and it's not me. Before I knew it, I found myself running.
"Jade what's wrong?" I heard Marissa call to me. But I didn't bother to stop. I wanted to run to the TARDIS and hide in there for good. I didn't care if I get fired, I wanted to be away from the woman who is taking the love of my life away. When I got to the TARDIS, I did my routine and went to the small television. The Doctor's face was on with that handsome smile. My tears were spilling out of control now.
"I have a couple instructions to give you two..." I skipped through the whole video.
"What about you falling in love with a human? What are we supposed to do then?" I screamed at the screen. I stopped near the end.
"Please don't give up on me, my time lord self still loves you." I paused the video and slapped it with my hand. I don't get why I'm being so emotional about this. I should still believe in the Doctor. He said he still loves me and not her. Suddenly theTARDIS doors open and Marissa comes running in. She hugs me as soon as she reaches me.
"That woman! I hate her!" I screamed through my sobs.
"Why what happened?" she asked. I told her everything, from the journal, to her telling me off.
"I hate that woman too." Marissa laughed.
"When she laughed about us being his companions I wanted to slap her. She chuckled at me being in love with him!" I cried. Marissa comforted me until I calmed down.
"You know, you need to hang out with me! Come on I also want you to meet one of my friends." I nodded and stood up. She lead me to this pub that was packed. She ordered two hot chocolates and handed me one. It's warmth helped fight the numbness from my hands since I forgot my gloves. I was too upset at the moment to remember those things. We then went outside and went to this table where a large woman was sitting there drinking tea. She had very curly hair and I could tell under her dark jacket that she was wearing a maids outfit too.
"This is my friend Jade, the one I told you about" Marissa wrapped her arm around me. The three of us talked for awhile. It was nice to be happy and not have tears in my eyes every minute of the day.
"Are you guys going to the dance that's coming up tomorrow?" Marissa's friend asked eager. I haven't really thought about it and I bet Marissa didn't either. Suddenly a bright green light appeared in the sky. I stared at it blankly for a second. I poked Marissa and begged her to look up, her friend did too. The light came towards Earth and crashed landed a few distances away. I stood up and debated rather or not to go and investigate. I turned to Marissa to see what should I do. I shrugged my shoulders and decided to explore. I walked with pride to the strange object. I heard footsteps and turned around to see Marissa and her friend running towards me.
"Are you crazy? What would the Doctor do if he found out you just ran off?"
Marissa was angry with me, I could tell.
"Who is the Doctor?" Marissa's friend asked.
"My boyfriend!" I found myself shouting.
"A friend!" Marissa shouted. Her friend shrugged her shoulders and moved on. When we got there, I sighed in disappointment realizing that the space was empty. No alien space ship or whatever.
"What do ya know, nothing there" Marissa's friend said. We decided to head back to the school. We then went to our rooms and went to bed for the night. When my eyes closed I saw the Doctor standing there, smiling at me. He was wearing his human clothes. Everything around us was white. I didn't know if it was his human or time lord self staring at me. Suddenly out of nowhere, the woman who told me off was walking toward us. She had a wedding dress on and held a bouquet of flowers. When I turned to the Doctor, he was no longer wearing regular clothes, but he was wearing a tuxedo. The woman wrapped her arm around him and they started to walk away. I stared at them for awhile and then started to run after them.
"Doctor!" I cried. My voice echoed through out the area.
"Doctor!" I cried again and there still was no answer. I stopped running and fell to my knees. I looked up and found myself outside the TARDIS door. The Doctor was looking down at me like I was disgusting. Tears were filling up my eyes. He shook his head and closed the door in my face. The TARDIS started to fade away into nothing. My eyes opened and I shot straight up. I was covered in sweat and my hands were clutching the sheets. That was a horrible nightmare. The Doctor would never do that to me, would he? I couldn't think like that! He asked me to not give up on him. The sun was starting to shine through my window. I got dressed and hurried to my chores. It was a normal day at the school. I didn't see Marissa or her friend. I didn't see Mr. Smith at all but I know I'll have to when I do my duties. I dreaded going to see him. When the time came, I walked through the door without knocking again. Too distressed about the dream. When I walked in I stopped dead in my tracks. Mr. Smith was kissing that dreadful woman. I stared at them while they were making out.
"Again Jade what did I tell you about knocking before entering?" he shouted. I never heard him sound so angry at me. It terrified me to hear him shout. I ran out as fast as I could before he could say anything else. Tears were filling up in my eyes. He was kissing another woman. I held back my tears and continued on with my day.
It was evening and the dance was about to start. I was still at the school in my maid outfit. I didn't want to go. I know that Mr. Smith will be there with that woman I despise so much. I was walking about the school, the hallways were dark and spooky. When I turned the corner I literally ran into Marissa.
"Jade, we got to open the watch! They found us!" Marissa cried. She grabbed my hand and pulled me behind her. She told me that the one friend she introduced me to had an alien gun and tried to shoot her. We reached Mr. Smith's room and Marissa charged through the door.
"Jade what did I warn you about knocking?" Mr. Smith asked.
"Will you shut up about the knocking?" I snapped back. I turned to Marissa.
"They found us, we need to open the watch!" she yelled. Mr. Smith and the woman looked at us like we didn't make any sense. I moved to the fireplace and searched for the watch, but it wasn't here.
"What are you two talking about?"
"Marissa, the watch isn't here it's gone!" I cried. Marissa walked over to me and searched for it too.
"Where could it be? We laid it right here!"
"You had a fob watch right here" I told him. He acted like he didn't know what was going on.
"Really? I don't remember" he scratched the back of his head.
"I don't see how this is any concern of yours" the woman snapped. I was about to walk over and slap her but Marissa stopped me.
"Doctor we're hiding! From these aliens, they got my friend Jenny and hypnotized her. We need that watch." Marissa explained.
"Oh I see..." Mr. Smith said. He grabbed his journal and held it in front of us.
"This is what is called a story" he acted as if we were children.
"You complete... This is not you, this is nineteen-thirteen!" Marissa snapped. Mr. Smith shook his head.
"Right, this is nineteen-thirteen" he said sarcastically. I pushed Marissa out of the way and slapped Mr. Smith across the face. The old woman gasped.
"JADE" I didn't bother to listen to her. Mr. Smith was treating us with disrespect and I didn't like it. I grabbed his arm.
"Come with us to the TARDIS! We need you!" I screamed at the top of my lungs. I was done crying, I had to be strong. The love of my life was trapped in this idiot's body.
"Unhand me this instant!" he ordered. Marissa tried to grab him as well.
"I love you Doctor!" I screamed as he struggled to get free.
"Well I don't and I'm not going anywhere with you two crazy servants. You are no longer welcomed here now get out!" Mr. Smith screamed as he pushed us out and slammed the door behind us. I didn't know what to do, I didn't know if I should cry or scream. I turned to Marissa who had a shocked look on her face. We were on our own. Where could that watch be? I wanted to find it fast and I bet Marissa wanted the same thing! I ran to my room to look through the Doctor's jacket, the watch wasn't there. I decided to put it on knowing that we'll be going to the dance. I told Marissa I'd meet her there. I ran like the wind through the village I followed couples who were heading to the dance, I found Marissa waiting outside. When I reached her we headed for the door. We stood there and looked for Mr. Smith. He was waiting in line for some punch. I looked for the woman and saw her sitting by herself, smiling at him. I walked over to her without telling Marissa my plan and seating myself. She looked at me with disbelief.
"Oh no, not again please" she begged. I stared at her.
" Isn't he the most magnificent man you've ever met?" I asked.
"Yes." She nodded her head.
"Does he say things that don't make sense sometimes? Don't you think that deep down there's something else in that man?"
"I don't what to think" she looked over at him.
"I don't mean to be rude but it doesn't matter what you think. From my experience, I don't think you're that nice, maybe you are, but you took the love of my life away from me, he's trapped in that man you're in love with. I'm sorry for what I'm about to do."
"Oh Jade not this again, I just got away from Marissa who was bothering me in line. This is getting out of hand, I must insist that you two leave." his eyes were starting to fill with hatred towards me. I pulled out his sonic screw driver. He looked at it in awe.
"You KNOW what it is, name it!"
"John, what is that? What's she talking about?" the woman asked. I noticed Marissa walking over to me. Mr. Smith took the sonic screwdriver.
"You're not John Smith. You're called the Doctor and everything in the journal is real. About Marissa and I being your companions. About us." I grabbed his hand and he looked at me. Suddenly, three people charged into the room. One of them was Marissa's friend, Jenny. Two of the others was a young boy who was wearing a fancy suit. His hair was black and his bangs fell over his right eye. The other man was fat and wore a light brown suit. He had grey hair and a bushy mustache. They all looked very scary. A stranger came up to them.
"What are you doing barging in here?" the young boy aimed his alien gun at him and fire. The stranger disintegrated and vanished. Everyone was screaming in panic.
"Mr. Smith, what we said. Just now, forgot about it! Don't say anything!" Marissa ordered. I wish I could cower behind Mr. Smith like I would do with the Doctor, but it'd never be the same.
"We ask for silence!" the young boy shouted. Everyone was quiet.
"Now then, we have a few questions for Mr. Smith." They all stared at him.
"Better than that." Said a little girl carrying a red balloon. She had a pink sweater and white a t-shirt and tights. Her dirty blonde hair was straightened and had a silk bow on the back. "The teacher, he's the Doctor, I heard them talking." the little girl smiled and so did the young boy.
"Oh you took human form, how clever."
"Of course I'm human, I'm as human as you. What's going here? This is madness!"
'You're the one that's mad' I thought in my head.
"Even have a human brain clever, clever, clever." the young boy smiled.
"But he's no good like this" said Jenny.
"We need a time lord." said the fat man.
"That could be easily arranged" the young boy said as he raised his gun and aimed it at Mr. Smith.
"Change back" the young boy ordered.
"I don't know what you mean" Mr. Smith shouted back.
"Change back!" the young boy yelled again. Jenny grabbed me by the neck and held the gun up to my head. Marissa tried to help me but Jenny gave her a look that warned her to back off.
"She's your friend isn't she? Shouldn't this scare you enough to change back?" Jenny asked. I looked at Mr. Smith knowing that he won't help me.
"I don't know what your talking about!"
"Oh wait, I remember Marissa telling me that this girl was jealous of the matron because she was in love with Mr. Smith too." they grabbed the old lady and put a gun to her head too.
"Tell me Doctor, was it fun being human? Did it make you wiser and smarter? Let's make you choose. Which one of them do you want us to kill? Your lover? Or your friend?" I looked at Mr. Smith. He didn't know what to do. Before I knew it, I elbowed Jenny and grabbed her gun. I aimed at them and grabbed Jenny by the neck. Everyone lowered their guns.
"Doctor, get everyone out of here!" I ordered. He looked at me for a moment I turned to him, then Marissa.
"Go" Mr. Smith and Marissa helped everyone to the exit. After everyone left, Mr. Smith turned to me.
"What about you?" he sounded concerned for my safety. I held back tears.
"Mr. Smith I think you should escort your lady friend to safety" Mr. Smith ran out the door. I released Jenny and froze with the gun still in hand. Marissa was behind me.
"DON'T try anything!" I threatened.
"Brave this one is" the young one was very pleased.
"I should've taken this form, so much fun, more spirit" said Jenny.
" Where's Jenny? is she gone?" Marissa asked.
" I took her body, I consumed it"
"You mean she's dead?" Marissa sounded terrified.
"Yes. She went with dignity with all that screaming" Jenny and the others came closer to us. From behind, someone gabbed me and pulled the gun from my hand. Before I knew it, I ran for the door. Not knowing if Marissa was following me. Outside Mr. Smith was standing outside with the old lady.
"God you're so stupid as a human come on!" I grabbed his hand and we ran to the school. It was nice to feel his hand in mine again, but thing was it wasn't the Doctor's hand. When we got there, Mr. Smith started to ring a bell and called all the students together to get ready to fight. The boys were scattered everywhere. We then walked into a room where they were making bullets for the weapons.
"Mr. Smith, they're just kids! you can't expect them to fight!" Marissa called.
"They are cadets, they learned how to fight" the two of them stared at each other for awhile. Suddenly, a tall balding man came in and demanded to know what was going on. Mr. Smith explained everything to him. The man agreed to let the boys continue. Marissa was right, this was wrong! Young boys shouldn't fight. My mind wondered to the fob watch. We HAD to find it, it was our only hope. Before I knew it, I ran out the door. I heard footsteps behind me, I believe it was Marissa. I've realized we're always following each other whenever the Doctor needed our help. Either I was following Marissa or she was following me. I found myself running towards Mr. Smith's room. Even though I already looked there, it wouldn't hurt to look through it again. When I turned around I almost fell backwards.
