Levi beckoned her forward. "Come on, don't be shy. We are family after all." Emmy took in a deep breath and stepped forward. Levi stepped out of the doorway and Emmy slipped past him.

Emmy took a moment to comprehend her surrounds. The walls were painted a pastel yellow, the floors a deep golden wood. All the windows were surrounded by white molding, but there were no curtains. During the day it was probably very bright in the room. All the bed frames were white wood, but everyone's sheets were different. In front of every bed was a white trunk with gold outlining. One side clearly belonged to the boys, it was all around messier and the posters on the wall didn't have teen heartthrobs on them. Except for one, which was covered in them, maybe one girl was on that side.

All the campers stopped what they were doing and looked up as Emmy entered. It was instantly clear that she wasn't like them. Every single one of them was blonde and tan, Emmy was the total opposite of both of those. Some of them smiled kindly, while others just looked like they were studying her. Levi stood next to her, his hand protectively on her back. "Guys, I think you know who this is. Emmy, these are your siblings." Emmy gave a small wave and received a few nods back. "And as I said I'm Levi, the Apollo counselor. There used to be this guy named Will, but he went off to school." Emmy nodded as if she understood. "Over there is your bed." He pointed to one with plain white sheets. Her saxophone case and backpack were on top. Emmy slowly walked over and opened her case to make sure the instrument had made it. Whispers started behind her, but she only heard one.

"Why does she look so different?" A girl at about 10 whispered to an older boy. Emmy didn't even look up as she answered.
"My mother is a daughter of Demeter. Her and Apollo made me." The older boy looked horrified at what Emmy had just said.
"You can't just say that to a child!"
"It's okay." The little girl said, "I used to go to public school. I know that means they had sex." The girl smiled proudly, and the older boy gasped. A few of the other kids laughed.
"Alright." Levi said, "Becca, you can't just say stuff like that. Richard, she's ten, about the same age you were when you guys got here." He turned to Emmy to explain a bit. "They are siblings in the full sense. The same mother and everything." Emmy nodded and smiled at both of them. She placed her saxophone back into it's case and opened her backpack. It still contained all of her overnight items, but the pajamas were dirty. She would just have to wear them again. Her cabin mates had returned to what they were doing before she arrived, most talking. Gathering the clothes in her hands she walked up to the closest girl. "Where can I change clothes?" The blonde gave a kindly smile.
"There is a bathroom in the back, but if you want to shower you will have to wait until the morning." Emmy nodded her thanks and walked to the bathroom. It was just like any other public restroom, just a bit cleaner. From behind the shut door Emmy noticed the room had gotten a lot quieter. Listening closely she was able to make out what they were saying.
"Did you guys see the bruise on her face when she showed up? I bet her parents beat her."
"Yeah, and she was happy about her neck scarring. What, does she have a vampire fetish?"
"I bet she's only dating Percy to be popular."
"What does he even see in her? She's way too pale, and is a freaking weirdo."
"Annabeth was way better. What the heck happened?"
"Guys, knock it off." The voice was clearly Levi's.
Emmy felt the tears well up in her eyes. She took a deep breath and kept them from falling. These people were supposed to be her brothers and sisters, even if only half. She didn't even bother to change, but kept the jeans and t-shirt on. Slamming open the door she walked out. Everyone instantly became silent, most looking everywhere but her. She placed her clothes on her bed and slowly turned around. "I heard. Every single word of it. No, I don't have a vampire fetish. But, I wasn't going to get all depressed over a scar. Might as well enjoy it. I'm dating Percy because I like him, not for any shallow reasons. And about the pale comment, it's not my fault. I'm not going to get tan just to please others. Also, I don't think you have a right to call me a freak. First, you don't know me. Second, at least I'm not an ass like you guys. Annabeth was being a jerk, that's what happened." She took a deep breath trying not to let her voice crack. "And yes, my father did hit me. Not that we're all clear I need a moment." Emmy exited the cabin as quickly as she could.
"Way to go guys." Levi said glaring at the other campers. "We are all going to have a talk later at the lava wall."

Emmy ran to the forest, feeling an emptiness in her stomach she hadn't felt since her mother died. The tears came without her realizing, blurring her vision. More that once she ran into a tree, but she just got right back up and kept running. Eventually she couldn't go any farther and she collapsed against the trunk of a tree. She sobbed openly, mad at herself for crying over something so stupid. So what if they hated her? Like she cared. But no matter how much she told herself that she didn't believe it. She did care, a lot more than they deserved. Her breathing finally began to even and the tears slow. Emmy wiped them away with irritation. This was just stupid, it was time to pull herself together and show those jerks she didn't care. Even if she did. Taking in a few more deep breaths she stood. Brushing off her pants she didn't hear as he approached. "Hello there Emmy." The voice was deep and smooth. She jumped and turned to see a camper standing before her. He was an average height, but was quite muscular. His dark hair was cut short letting his tan skin show through. His green eyes pierced through the darkness and looked straight at her.
"Who are you?" She demanded.
"I'm really sorry about this." He said as he took a step towards her. Emmy backed up and tried to run. The boy was much faster than her and caught up to her quickly. He scooped her up into his arms holding her by the waist. Emmy struggled against his hold but couldn't break free. She sucked in a deep breath to let out a scream, but a large hand covered her mouth before she got the chance. "I'm really sorry." The hand moved so it covered both her mouth and nose. Gradually Emmy's vision grew black. The last thing she heard was the eerie whispering of, "I'm sorry."
