I apologize for the long wait. Life got crazy as I finished up my bachelor's degree. Then my computer decided to eat this chapter as well as several others for other stories I'm working on. I want to promise that the next chapter will be up in the next week or so, but I am obviously bad at regualr updates, so who knows. On another note, please let me know of any glaring errors. As always, I own nothing.
Rossi turned to Korsak, who was still chuckling about Jane's antics. "So, she's still as stubborn as ever?"
"Probably even more so than when you met her."
"Why didn't Jane say you were friends if you know her?" asked Frankie.
"We've only met once, about five years ago."
"That would explain how her copies of your books are signed," chimed in Frost. Getting a look from Korsak, he explained. "What? I borrowed them from Jane."
"I thought you only read comic books the way you and Frankie fought over that toy doll on your desk."
"Action figure," came the response from both Frankie and Frost.
"Dr. Isles," Maura said, answering her phone.
"Maura, its Emily."
"Well, that was quick. How are you?"
"I'm good. How are you?"
"I'm ok. Now, what do you have planned?"
"How do you know I have something planned?"
"Emily, I've known you since high school, and your voice always sounds the same when you are trying to be sneaky. So, how can I help?"
"Pick me up at the airport tomorrow evening at 7 pm, and not tell anyone from the BAU?" Emily asked, sounding hopeful.
"Of course. Just forward me the flight information and I'll be there. Now, how's London?"
When Jane and Tommy pulled up to her house, Maura was just getting off the phone with Emily, having waited in the driveway until Jane came home. "Tommy, I have a friend who handles custody cases, so I will contact him tomorrow morning, but I don't see anything keeping you from gaining sole custody of TJ," Maura said as they walked inside.
"Even my record?"
"Even that. You've been out of trouble since you were released."
"Plus, you have half of Boston Homicide as references," said Jane. "And free baby-sitting in the form of Ma."
"How long will it take?"
"Anywhere from six months to a year. However, if you can get Lydia to sign a form that definitively gives up her parental rights, it should only take a few months."
"I'll try calling her tomorrow. Maybe see if Frankie and his buddies can keep an eye out for her when they're working," said Tommy. "Is there anything else we can do tonight?"
"Not really," answered Maura.
"Ok, I'll see you guys later." He stood up, grabbing TJ's carrier and bag at the same time. "Thanks for helping me guys." Jane walked him to the door, shutting and locking it once she saw Tommy start his truck.
"He really seems to have grown-up since TJ," said Jane, turning around into an embrace by her wife. "And I'm glad he wants to take him. I think TJ was his wake-up call. Speaking of calls, who were you talking to when we drove up?"
"My friend Emily. She's is flying in tomorrow night to surprise her friends in the BAU. She worked with them for five years before transferring back to INTERPOL."
"INTERPOL, huh? That's cool," Jane said, kissing her wife. "But you know what's cooler? Actually getting to go to bed with my beautiful wife for more than a few hours."
"Jane, you are ever the charmer," said Maura, standing up, and pulling Jane up with her. "But it is still early. We won't sleep through the night."
Jane was already pulling Maura towards their bedroom. "I never said anything about sleeping. I just said I wanted to go to bed with you. However, if you just want to go to sleep, I guess I will just watch the day's football highlights." Jane turned around, making like she was going to sit back down on the couch, but Maura caught her.
"Now, I know you can think of more things to do in bed than just sleep, Detective," Maura said, her voice lower than normal. "But, if you'd rather watch football, I guess I will do them by myself." Maura had barely taken three steps when she was swept off her feet by Jane. "Jane, put me down. You're going to hurt yourself."
"Ok," Jane said, unceremoniously dropping Maura on their bed, before laying down on top of her. "Now, what would you like to do?" Jane asked, as she peppered kisses on Maura's face.
