This will probably be the last chapter of this story for a while, as I have lost all inspiration for this a long time ago. Thank you to those who have followed, favorited, or reviewed, I'm very grateful. If anyone would like to offer ideas, adopt this story, or find out what was going to happen, please PM me.

"Oh-" I hesitated, remembering the lad in front of me. "Bother."

"Shouldn't we do something, Inspector?" The lad ventured.

"If we must," I sighed. "Bring Mr Holmes in here then lad, and don't let him get away! Bring out your derbies if you have to!"

The constable looked slightly shocked, but left to do as I asked. Moments later, he was back, followed by Holmes. I gestured for him to leave, then started questioning Holmes. "What's this all about then? You on a new case?"

"No Lestrade, I am not." Holmes seemed barely aware I was even in the room. He tapped his finger against his chin. "I am not on any case at the moment, and none of my recent cases necessitated violence."

"What about that gang that was after you when you-hmph-died?"

Holmes looked at me, seeming to just realize I was in the room. "Oh, Moriarty? I took-that is to say, Moriarty's gang has been taken care of. They are no longer a problem."

"Well, good then," I said cautiously. It almost sounded like they had been taken care of permanently, courtesy of Mr Holmes. I decided not to ask. When it comes to Holmes, the less I know, the better. Plausible deniability and all that. "So who was it?"

"I am afraid I do not know. I have encountered no one on my cases that could have employed such means, and none of my previous opponent have yet been released."

"Then who was it?" I asked in frustration. Why is it that Holmes always has to talk in circles? Can't he just give a straight answer for once?

"As I believe I just said, Inspector, I do not know who it was, or what their motive is. If you would pay attention, you might have remembered."

I resisted the urge to slam my head against the desk. It really wasn't worth the headache I would receive for doing so, though if Holmes stayed much longer, I might just get one anyway. "Mr Holmes-" I started, intending to tell him anything necessary to get him to leave. Fortunately, I did not have to say anything, as he had already left.
