Moonlit Dreams
Chapter 3
Sivil gaped at the trees that zoomed by quick as lightning. It was mesmerizing to watch the shift from the town, where building were everywhere and you had to go to parks to witness the beauty of nature, to the country, where you're lucky if you can reach civilization in thirty minutes. This away-from-everything place would drive some crazy, nothing to do but lay back and enjoy the present, but for Sivil this was paradise. Going to her aunt's house each summer was like a breather from all the stress that life set on her shoulders. It also helped get away from the memories of the past horror of THAT teacher. A shiver swept through Sivil's body involuntarily.
"Are you cold honey? It's the middle of June but you can still get the cold." Her aunt quickly placed her forearm on Sivil's forehead while still keeping her eyes on the road. "Hmmm…It doesn't feel like you have a fever but if you start feeling unwell, tell me and I can get you some medicine before you can even sneeze." Sivil was a little puzzled by the saying but focused on easing her aunt's concern.
"No, no. I'm just fine. I'm just so excited to be going to your house. I always love seeing the house appear out of nowhere as we turn into your driveway because you can't see it with that forest almost surrounding and everything. It sends chills down my spine just thinking about it." Sivil said while shooing her aunt's hand away. There's no reason to overly worry my aunt. Remember this is my get away. My time to be at peace, to be away from annoying but loveable sisters, the stressful future, and drama that's going on between friend. Though it kind of sucks to not be hanging out with friends during the summer. But that doesn't matter right now, it's time to relax. With that Sivil slipped further down the car seat and was out like a light.

A three year old girl was racing towards a huge sunflower that was at least the size of the kid's head. Her sliver hair was flying in every which direction, and her emerald eyes lit up in joy. Nothing could destroy this moment of pure happiness, but suddenly she tripped over protruding rock and skinned her knees. She tumbled head over heels and landed on her back. At first she was in a daze, not sure exactly what happened, but then she realized the pain she felt from the tumble. She sat up and let out an awful wail. Tears poured down her chubby cheeks, and her little fists came up to rub her eyes.
For quite a while she bawled her heart out, but no one came. No one came to help that poor girl get up and forget the pain that was not only physical but also emotional. Where's mommy? Mommy was always here, but she's not here anymore. She always came when I cried before… Mommy… can't you hear me…? The little girl thought this over and over. Her dad was…well… never part of the picture to say the least.
Then she was soaring. Screams pierced the air as she realized where she was, but she was quickly caught by warm and strong arms held her safely. She hadn't felt that safe in a while. As the warm arm encircled her and held her close she grips his shirt with her little fists and starts crying again. This time it was happiness of not being alone anymore, but also sorrow that her mommy wasn't the one who had saved her from that dark loneliness. She felt his arms shift and a warm hand come and pat her gently on the top of her head. She tilted up her head, and his hand moves to wipe away a stray tear. Her gaze moves up past his neck and finds herself gazing into glowing ice blue eyes.
"It'll be okay, my little fighter. I'm here for you." His voice, deep and soft, promised her as she was lulled into slumber.
