"It's only natural, Hazel." Aphrodite pointed out, looking at herself in her floating mirror. "They are teenage boys. But now it's time to get this party started! I shall start by..."
"...using the shoes-o-matic."
The three demi-gods turned to her, confused.
"Did she just say she was going to use her shoes?" Frank asked nobody in particular.
"No, silly!" The love goddess corrected. "The shoes-o-matic. You know that old saying, 'Don't judge a person until you've walked a mile in their shoes?' "
"Because then you're a mile away and you've got their shoes!" Leo finished, flashing a smile.
"That's just the messed up version. But anyways, my machine make you switch bodies."
"And what would the purpose of that be...?" Hazel asked, looking panicked.
"So you guys can better understand eachother's feelings!" Aphrodite smiled dangerously.
"Well you have fun with that, because I am not going to be a part of it." Leo said, folding his arms stubbornly.
"Don't worry, the technology is already installed in your chairs!"
"What?!"
Aphrodite pushed a button on her own chair, and everyone got quiet. Then,
"Um, what just happened?" Frank's voice asked, coming from Hazel's body.
"I think it worked." Leo's voice came from Frank's body.
"Wow, I never would've guessed?" Hazel rolled Leo's eyes.
The audience started laughing and clapping. Aphrodite smirked at the three, who all looked very uncomfortable.
"There are some disturbing images in your head, Leo..." Hazel said.
"I never knew you liked Sammy that much." Frank frowned.
"Wow, I don't feel all skimpy anymore!" Leo smiled at Frank's muscles.
The way Leo was smiling was displeasing to Aphrodite. He wasn't supposed to be enjoying this!
"Leo, why don't you look into Frank's feelings for Hazel? That's kind of the purpose of me making you switch bodies..." Aphrodite said to the boy.
The tinker's smile flickered as he followed her advice. What he found was obviously not what he wanted to see.
"Frank, you never said you were in love with Hazel!" He blurted out, a hurt look on his, well, Frank's face.
Frank as Hazel blushed.
Hazel was searching through Leo's head, her eyebrows knit together as if she was confused by what she was seeing. When she heard what Leo had said, she snapped out of her trance and turned to her boyfriend, who was in Leo's body, with her eyes wide.
"Really, Frank?"
He ducked his head. "Yes." He whispered.
Aphrodite shook her head as if she thought they could do better. With a snap of her fingers, the three were switched back into their normal bodies.
"Wow, it feels good to be back." Leo moved his eyes everywhere as if getting used to them.
"For once, I agree." Frank glared at Aphrodite. "Are you done yet?"
"Of course not! We still have to decide who gets Hazel!"
"But I already have Hazel!" He protested.
"Well, let's decide if you get to keep her!" Aphrodite replied. "Now, what shall I do next?"
"Let us go?" Hazel suggested.
Aphrodite laughed as if Hazel had just suggested to take off all her makeup and do a little jig. There was no way the demigods were getting out of there.
"No, dear. I'm not even close to done with you."
"Darn."
"Now, how about we try... Loud Thoughts."
"Oh great, another one of you're "marvelous" inventions." Frank said, putting air quotes around the word marvelous. "What's this one do? Extract our brains and make them talk?"
"Something like that." Aphrodite clapped her hands, and three metal helmets strapped themselves onto the demigod's heads. "These helmets, once I turn them on, will read you're thoughts, then say them out loud."
"Our thoughts are going to be read out loud?" Leo frowned. "That's not a good thing."
"No, really?" Hazel said sarcastically, still a little disturbed after being inside his head.
The love godess snapped her fingers. The helmets were now on.
I wonder if there's any way out of here. Hazel's hemet read from her mind.
Maybe I could ask Aphrodite for some blueprints for these hemets. This is pretty cool! Leo was thinking.
I better get to keep my girlfriend after all this. Frank blushed. "I didn't think that!" Yes I did.
Aphrodite just smiled as she watched the three try not to think. All three were repeating the same thing in their heads, and the helmets read the words aloud.
Don't think of anything. Don't think. Don't think.
Leo finally snapped. He looked up at Frank, and a thought flashed for only a second arcross his mind. But that was all the helmets needed. I guess he really does deserve her. He's a decendent of Neptune. He must be the one to break her curse.
Aphrodite snapped her fingers and turned her helmets off, satisfied. "Looks like we have a winner!"
Frank looked up, hope shining in his eyes. "You mean..."
"Hazel, you can keep your Roman boyfriend. Looks like Leo shall stay single, for now. I have many plans for his future." Aphrodite winked at the tinker, who gulped.
The demigods all blacked out for two seconds. When they opened their eyes, they were back where they needed to be.
Leo shook his head, and continued on his project. He heard screaming and crying coming from the Zeus cabin.
Curious, he left the workshop and headed over. He peeked in, and saw Piper and Jason in a furious debate. Tears were streaming down Piper's cheeks, and Jason looked like he was torn between hugging her and fighting with her. Leo blinked, and they were gone.
He could guess where they were headed.
