"Come on. Lets go back to the TARDIS." He suggested, holding her waist. Rose nodded and both of them walked into the TARDIS. She looked over at him and smiled.
"Where to this time?" Rose asked
"Away from here. Maybe we need a nice holiday." He thought, walking through the TARDIS doors, tossing his coat off. Rose nodded in agreement. They had to go somewhere that they could just relax and have time to themselves. He gave her a small smile, moving around the console, trying to send them in flight to a please planet, but it seemed the TARDIS had other ideas.
Rose raised an eyebrow looking at the Doctor, then back at the console. "Doctor, why is she being so stubborn?"
"I don't know. Shes just going off and doing her own thing." The Doctor ran around the console, trying to change the flight pattern, but failing. Rose felt the TARDis settle down and she walked over to the doors and opened them and gasped quietly. Before her was a beautiful planet she'd never seen before.
"Doctor, Doctor come look at this!" Rose whispered to him.
The Doctor walked to the door, getting a sinking feeling in his hearts. "I ave a bad feeling about this Rose." He left his coat, walking out. He stopped, feeling the ground, smelling the grass, seeing the trees. Gallifrey.
"No. It cant be." Rose looked at him and he was clearly surprised as to where they were. Then it hit her. The reason why the Doctor was so shocked. The Burnt orange sky...The Mountains...
"Oh my God...This is Galifrey isn't it...?"
"About 50 years before I was born." He said in affirmation. "But we cant be here. Gallifrey is in a time lock. We really cant be here. We should go. We should really go, now." The Doctor pulled on her arm, trying to pull her back. He didnt want to be here. It would hurt so much more when he had to give it up. Rose sighed and slowly made her way back into the TARDIS, standing in the doorway, looking out at the beautiful planet. Imagining a little tiny Doctor running around in the feilds and having fun with his family, "Gallifrey was never good for me. Before, after and during th war." He said suddenly, sitting on the red grass, leaning his back on the TARDIS's panels. "It was, is, beautiful to look at, but its not a good planet. I was always so alone." Rose slowly sat down and took one of his hands in hers and began rubbing the back of it.
"You must have had a friend or two right?"
"One friend, once. Koschei. But after he looked into the vortex, he went insane. Started talking about drums. We were eight." HE scoffed, thinking of his 'childhood'. What a childhood he had. Rose looked at him then the scenery. It was beautiful here...but then again, Rose knew the place must have been hard for the Doctor. Then she remembered something...Drumming...The one prime minister was always drumming.
"He doesn't go by Harold Saxton does he? You know how like you go by John Smith?"
"Its a long story. One I don't want to remember. But yeh. He was known as Harold Saxon for a little while. Martha saved the day. Brilliant she was." HE remembered sadly. Rose smiled remembering Martha. She'd only known her for a short time, but she was super smart and she loved her. Rose kept quiet, and Rose didn't know what else to say to him. He seemed a little happy to be there but a little upset too.
"Do you want to go?"
"No, I think I want to stay here a little longer." He took a deep breath, giving a sad smile. It was a beautiful planet. The people were not so much. Rose looked over and took his hand in hers and just looked out at the Horizon and smiled sadly.
"Okay...but if you want to leave, just let me know okay?"
"You can ask me, you know. Anything you want to know. No point in holding secrets now." Rose frowned and rested her head on his shoulder.
"Do you miss being here? I know the war destroyed everything but...This is your home Doctor..."
"I honestly dont. I regret what I did. But I dont miss it. I ran away for a reason. I didnt like being restrained and thats all they ever did, put restrictions on me. I was a wild child." HE said softly tilting his ehad to rest on hers. Rose couldn't help but give a light laugh.
"A boy dreaming of adventures in the stars."
"Did I ever tell you that I stole the TARDIS?" He asked, changing the topic to a lighter subject. Rose raised her eyebrows in surprise as a bright grin grew on her face.
"Hang on...you stole the TARDIS? She actually let you?" She said interested and laughing.
"She is old. Older than me. She was a museum peice. She just called to me. That and shewastheonlyoneunlocked." He ended in a rush, looking down with a smile.
"Its like you were destined to have her." Rose said looking at him.
"I stole her and she stole me. I wouldnt want any other TARDIS." He said, resting his head on the blue panels. Rose smiled. She knew the TARDIS and the Doctor were close. They were family. The only thing to remind him of Gallifrey.
"and I'm sure she wouldn't want any other Time Lord" The TARDIS sent a pleasant hum into both their minds, showing that Rose was right. There was no other time lord she would want to fly with. The Doctor sent a wave of gratitude back at his wonderful machine. Rose did nothing but smile at the Doctor. He was so happy and practically beaming, and it was a smile she loved seeing...The Doctor sighed, taking one last look at the pefect country side of Gallifrey, standing up.
"Its time we move on." He said.
Rose stood up when he did and interlaced their hands together glancing at the view. She kissed his cheek an pulled them back to the TARDIS, Rose going in first so the Doctor could look as long as he needed to. He was grateful to Rose. He closed his eyes, taking a deep breath, breathing in the smell of Gallifrey. But he knew he couldn't stay. H needed to leave. He slipped back through the TARDIS door, giving on last forlorn look at the Gallifrey.
As the Doctor made his way back inside, Rose walked over and enveloped him in a hug and sighed quietly into his chest. She knew him leaving Gallifrey was hard but it was still bittersweet for him being there one last time. "Thank you." He muttered to her, glad she could understand what he needed at this time. Rose smiled and nodded and ran soothing circles around his back. If it were her, she knew he'd do the same for her. The TARDIS also gave a light hum and the lights dimmed a little so it was like a warm comforting hug
"And you," He directed to the TARDIS, pulling away from the blonde, "What stunt are your trying to pull? Breaking through the time lock is dangerous!" He called, crossing his arms and sending a heated glare at the ceiling of the TARDIS. Rose just looked at him. Slightly shocked at the outburst.
"Doctor, stop it! She knew how dangerous this was, but she wanted to see you happy and show me where you lived! She's only trying to make sure we're both happy! Give her a little slack!"
"I just wish she talked to me about it." He shrugged it off, turning to the console, doing a scan of the universe to make sure nothing happened. Rose just watched him for any reaction about the doomed universe.
"All safe?"
Yes." He pouted, knowing he had to make apologies to Rose and the TARDIS. Rose looked at him with a sincere look in her eyes as the TARDIS gave a low hum as if it was a hug.
"We forgive you Doctor. You had every right to be upset...but I shouldn't have shouted either."
"And neither should I. I was just worried about the two of you. You to are the most important things in my life."
Rose nodded and gave him a warm smile. "and your the most in ours..."
He sent her a small smile, taking her hand in his, glad she was okay with him. She gave his hand a squeeze back an another warm smile. "We will always love you Doctor. Until the very end" He kissed her cheek, pulling her into his side, letting the TARDIS hum wash over them. Rose smiled into his chest and just held him close, hearing his soothing heart beats in her ears. The Doctor let her go, clearing his throat and shifted awkwardly away from her. Rose looked up at him and her eyebrows creased a little.
"What's wrong Doctor?"
"Nothing. I'm fine." He lied. HE just didn't know how to tell her. Rose looked at him with serious eyes and yet concerned ones.
"Rule one Doctor..." She reminded him quietly.
"Don't wonder off?" He hedged, knowing what she was getting at, but trying to get around it. Rose shook her head.
"That can be your number one sometimes, but the real one….." Rose said with a pause. "The Doctor lies…" "Every now and then yes, I do lie." He tired to side step. He just didn't know how t tell her. Rose just looked at him.
"Doctor, you can tell me anything. I promise I won't get angry or anything. Just tell me what's bothering you. Please?" She whispered while placing her hands gently on his face, brushing her thumbs on his cheeks.
"I don't know how to for it in words." Hr bit his lip, making a choice decision. He touched his forehead to hers, pressing forward the feeling of the disruption in the time line towards her. Rose gasped quietly feeling the worry about the timeline. Whatever it was, it was wrong and shouldn't be happening.
"What's causing it?" Rose whispered
"I really don't know. And thats whats worrying me. Something is going to happen. Something big." This made Rose even more worried. If the Doctor didn't know what it was and it worried him, it had to be something dangerous and life changing. He sighed, stepping back from her, "I didn't meant o snap, but I want to train your time skills in case this is used against you, but we don't have enough time." Rose then looked at him, with a determined look in her eyes.
"Then show me what you can in the time we do have"
There is this thing. It gives compressed information at once. But, I don't know if i should." He tugged at his hair, getting worried. Rose took his hands.
"Doctor, I think I can handle it..." She told him gently, and confident
"It- its this brain buff, thing. You will be asleep, and it will compressed into your mind. Everything about time and Gallifrey and I never wanted to do this." Rose nodded understanding.
"Lets do it..." She whispered. He nodded, taking her hand and leading her to the med bay. He told her to lay down and get ready. He took a sedative, injecting it into her skin, placing the machine on top of her, starting the buffing process.
Now, he could only wait.
