Chapter 7: The Supermarket Surprise
Time passed by and it was time to eat. I walked downstairs and sat down on the chair near the kitchen counter. The other members of A. were already sitting down and there was an awkward silence in the air.
…
"So- would you guys like to order take-out or grab some ingredients from the supermarket?" said Shin Woo who was trying to break the awkward silence.
"Whatever…do whatever you want. I'm going to go upstairs to practice" said Tae-Kyung and gracefully walked into his room.
…
"OK...Do you all want to go shopping or something?" I added
"Here's an idea. We'll play rock, paper, and scissors to see who will get the ingredients and whoever loses will have to come for us! What do you think of the idea?"
"Accepted. Let's play" I said.
An hour later…
"Why? Why do I have to accompany you? You're the one who lost the game." Jeremy whined.
"Oppa doesn't seem to be much of a gentleman. You're not supposed to let a girl shop alone. She needs someone to help her with the heavy groceries." I said.
"Boo hoo, who says I'm a gentleman?" Jeremy says and he sticks his tongue out. He swiftly moves the shopping cart to the next aisle.
He drops me and doesn't even apologize. Why is he acting like nothing happened at all? What a bastard and I though Tae Kyung was the only rude one in the band.
We quickly shop for the rest of the ingredients and then
"Oh! Lee Sang Hee, you're Lee Sang Hee right?"
"Yes…who are…sunbae? Oh Ha Ni sunbae?" I say to the familiar face.
"Yes that's me. How are you? It's been so long since we talked." Ha Ni said to me.
"Yes it has been a long time. I've been good. I haven't seen you since you graduated from Parang University. How have you been? Still working at the hospital?
" Yeah. I'm still working there. What do you do now?"
"Oh I work as manager for the group ."
"Really?! I'm so jealous! I really like A. especially Jeremy.
Just then, a good looking man walks over to Ha Ni's side.
"Ha Ni…who is this?"
"Oh this is one of my hoobaes from the university. This is my husband Sang Hee"
"Annyong haseo. I'm Lee Sang Hee."
"Aaaa ye I'm Baek Seung Jo."
"Sang Hee! Sang Hee! Let's buy this." Jeremy exclaimed as he ran towards me holding a box of noodles.
…
"Who…who is this? Sang Hee. Could it be…that this is your boyfriend?"
"NO. What are you saying sunbae?! He's not my boyfriend! What nonsense!"
"Calm down Sang Hee. I was just saying. Wait…aren't you Jeremy from the famous group A. ?
"Yes. I'm Jeremy from A. ."
"Oh my god Seung Jo! I'm getting to meet Jeremy! Jeremy from A. ! May I get your autograph? Pretty please. I'm a big fan. Oh the other nurses will be so jealous of me."
"Give her an autograph. She's a respected sunbae of mine."
"I was going to anyway."
"Seung Jo, you have some paper on you don't you? Give him some paper to write on."
While Jeremy writes the autograph, sunbae pulls me to the side for a conversation.
"You totally like him?"
"Who are you talking about? *looks around* Me?"
"Who else would I be talking about?"
"No I don't like him sunbae. He's only a coworker."
"Don't lie to yourself Sang Hee. I know you like him and he likes you too. Sunbae here has been through it all and my intuition is telling me that you guys have fallen for each other and fallen for each other hard girl. There's no going back"
"He likes me? No way sunbae. I think you're seeing things."
"Jeremy likes you. I can tell Sang Hee. It's in the eyes. Anyways, keep working hard. Fighting! Your sunbae is always here to support you."
"Ha Ni! He's done with the autograph!" Seung Jo exclaims.
"Got to go but nice to meet you after so long. Good luck!"
"Sunbae! Good to see you too."
"Thank you for the autograph Jeremy. I won't ask for a picture because we really need to head home. I look forward to seeing you again." Sunbae said this and winked.
Jeremy and I bowed and he thanked sunbae again.
The rest of the trip went by with no words from either one of us.
