"So he's coming here today?" Clint asked as he watched Thor clean the table. He had never seen the god pick up a wash cloth, let alone clean something.

"Aye. We must all be ready to receive him."

"Well, if what you say is true Thor, then it won't matter how clean the place is because he probably won't even remember…let alone care."

Thor placed his wash cloth down "Archer, why are you not 'surfing the channels' as you call it?"

Clint cringed at Thor's inability to grasp even the simplest lingo, but that was still a good question. No one had switched the set on since the bakery debacle…something about being branded criminals always set them off.

"There's just nothing good on…that's all." Clint shrugged. "I'm gonna go see what Tasha's up to."

Natasha, as always, was busy thinking of some way to get to the bottom of all of this…frustration. She didn't want to admit it, but it seemed that this whole reincarnation thing was true, and if that was the case she had the rethink everything she knew about the trickster…old knowledge at best was useless and at worse deadly. This was the perfect opportunity to learn more about their new foe.

"When will he get here?" Natasha asked. Tony Stark was busy setting up every camera system in the house, prepping them to receive and record any anomalies that might accompany their…guest.

"Any minute now," he said without looking up.

Steve Rogers stood in the corner, his arms crossed. He still wasn't buying any of this, but the team thought it would be better if he kept his presence scarce for the time being. He agreed…reluctantly.

"Sir," Jarvis' voice rang through the corridor. "It seems you have a guest."

Tony smiled. "It's show time folks."

Thor was the first to get to the door, followed by Natasha, then Clint and then Tony. The door swung open, and there standing in front of them was a young man in a faded jean jacket. His hair was unruly, strands of red pointing every which way…he looked almost embarrassed to be seen.

"Hey Thor…I hope I'm not la-"

"Nonsense friend Luke! Come in!" Thor placed his hands on Luke's shoulder and nearly dragged the poor kid through the door. "You remember my comrades, yes? There is Friend Stark, and Lady Natasha, there's the archer Clint and-"

"Y-yeah. I remember you all. It's nice to see you again." Luke shoved his hands in his pockets and smiled.

Natasha raised her eyebrow. This man was…different. She remembered in all of her dealings with Loki she could always sense this malice, this hidden storm deep beneath his eyes. Luke…Luke had none of that. He was just…peaceful.

"Well Luke," Natasha piped up, "Why don't I show you around?" This would give her some one on one time with Luke, earn his trust, and give them the info they needed to eventually get what they wanted.

"Uh…alright. I mean, if it's alright with everyo-"

"Of course friend Luke." Thor slapped him on his back and smiled. "We shall away to another room and give you two some peace."

And with that the men disappeared as fast as they had arrived.

Natasha smirked. She'd get more info out of Loki while the rest were back in the war room assessing everything that happened...all according to plan.

"Well come on then."

Natasha led Luke down to the kitchen, to the pool area, through the living room, the television room, the place where the team played pool. Luke had never seen a place so large; just their bathroom was twice the size of his apartment. Leon would get lost for days in a place like this.

"So Luke…where do you come from? I've been so busy talking about this place that I haven't asked you yet." She laughed a little and placed her hand on his shoulder. She had used this technique plenty of times. Flirt with him a little and he'll open up.

Luke smiled. "I have no clue where I come from."

She tried hard not to raise her eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

"Well, I've got this amnesia thing going on right now, so anything that's happened in the past is a complete mystery." He shrugged his shoulders.

He wasn't lying, she could tell. So he was reincarnated and he couldn't remember who he was.

"Oh…I'm so sorry to hear that." She said. This could complicate things a great deal. They needed Loki to bring back chaos, but that wouldn't happen if he didn't know he was supposed to do it. She took a deep breath. She was clever she could find a way around this. He had no past, and what's the one thing people without a past want? They want their identity. They want to know who they were. All she had to do was tell him they could help him with that goal.

"What if I told you we could help you?" There was no way he could resist something like that. "What if I told you we could reunite you with your family? Tell you your real identity?"

The trap was too perfect…all she had to do was set the bait.

"What would you say to that?" She smirked.

Luke took a deep breath "I'd say 'Great, but no thanks'."

And then the illusion was shattered.

"W-what?" She tried to feign a smile. "But don't you want to know? What about your family? About who you are"

Luke shrugged. "I'm not too interested in who I was before, I just care about who I am now. I'm Luke, and that's enough for me." His body language was so peaceful. His shoulders didn't shrug. His lips never quivered. He never strayed from the truth.

For a brief second her face revealed the emotion of shock. This was Loki? This was the god who dreamed of conquest? This was the man who was so power hungry he dreamed of the world bowing to him? Where was the tyrant that swore revenge each and every time he was defeated. Where were the actions so heinous that even Tony could not fathom them? Where was the man who promised chaos with every cruel deed?

Where was Loki?

"Uh…so, how about that tour? There's still plenty of stuff you haven't shown me yet." Luke smiled and walked on.

She readjusted herself and stood next to her guest."Y-yeah. I'll show you our training areas."

It was becoming clearer and clearer that this man was not Loki…and that was a very large problem.
