Arthur walked down a hallway, Alfred having left him to go about some kingly duties, Arthur assumed, leaving the Brit free to explore the castle and find the prisoners. He cursed as he found yet another dead end, he kicked the wall in frustration and turned on his heel, stomping away. After a few seconds the sound of stone grinding against stone sounded, he turned, and there stood a dark doorway, steps leading down to god knows where. He gulped as he ran his hand along the cool stone wall, guiding himself down the steps, 'Why the hell am I even going here?'

He soon met the end of the steps, dimly lit torches flickering light across the metal bars of cages and the stone walls. Arthur coughed as the thick smell of rotting corpses came to his attention. He covered his mouth as he walked quietly down the hallway, looking into the cells to see many people in blue clothing, and only a few in red, along with some oddly animals Arthur had never seen. He looked into one of the last few cells, shaking the bars as he saw the occupants, "Gil, Allistor, Angus, you're alive!" he hissed, making two of them jump from their spots and run to Arthur.

"Holy shit, I've never been glad to see anyone in mah life!" Allistor said back, laughing to himself.

Angus beamed, "How'd ye get in?! And, why are you wearing red?"

Arthur looked down at his clothes, "It's a disguise, I snuck in, are you lot alright?"

The two at the bars nodded, "Yes, but I'm afraid Gilbert's gone mute." replied Angus as he looked back to the Prussian who gazed out of the cell window.

Arthur sighed, "We'll deal with that later, how much danger are you lot and everyone else in?"

Allistor sighed, "A lot mate, the king is requestin' fer our beheadin' tomorrow, along with a few other men."

Arthur nodded, "Who?"

Angus thought as he began to tick off names, "Well there's us, then Karou, Lukas, and then one of the guys in the red kingdom has been sneaking us and the others food, he's Abel. So that makes seven people we have to spring free of this place."

Arthur ran a hand through his messy hair, "Righto... Where are the keys?"

Allistor sighed, "Alfred has them, hung right around his pretty little neck."

Arthur let out a frustrated sigh, "Fine. I'll find out where the other's are at and get some more information, you do the same with Abel."

Angus nodded, "Sure thing, we'll also try to get Gilbert to come back."

Arthur nodded, "Good luck to you guys."

Arthur listened as Alfred rambled on and on about something or another, staring at the keys that laid on his chest, he was so close. Alfred took a large gulp of his drink as he turned to Ivan, who stood close by, "Ivan, bring the magic man, he amuses me."

Ivan bowed, "As you wish your highness."

Alfred smiled as he turned back to Arthur, "You'll love my magic man Alejandro, he's good with magic tricks~" Arthur hummedquietly as the doors to the throne room swung open, Ivan and a raven haired man walking on either side of a blonde who walked in shackles. An odd curl stuck out much like Feliciano's or Lovino's, his shoulders were squared and his head held high, determined to keep his pride despite his captivity. Alfred beamed, "Hello magic man~ Do some tricks for our guest~~"

The blonde looked over to Arthur before closing his eyes and making a rather small fire imp dance before the king, causing him to laugh. Arthur watched the fire carefully, it looked almost real the creature. Soon the imp turned into a dog, running around the castle and jumping up at an invisible target. Alfred beamed as he watched the dog jump and run, "He's quite good isn't he, shame he's to die." he whispered to Arthur who turned to face him.

"Where's he from?"

Alfred leaned back in his chair, "The White kingdom, where my father used to rule, he's dead now, so I rule this one, and are at war with the other."

Arthur nodded as he rested his elbows on his knees, "Interesting."

Lukas looked up to Arthur, 'What is your name?'

Arthur looked to Alfred, who thought he'd said something. Then turned back to Lukas, 'Did you say that?'

Lukas nodded slightly as he continued to make new animals, 'Who are you?'

Arthur sighed in relief, 'Arthur Kirkland, I'm a friend of Antonio's. I've infultrated this place to save you and everyone else who supports the white king.'

Lukas smiled a bit, 'Good. I'm Lukas, as you already know. I'm glad to have met you Arthur, let's hope you can save us before we all lose our heads.'

Arthur chuckled to himself, 'Indeed.'

Lukas smiled as the cobra before him transformed into the creature of Arthur's nightmare, attacking Alfred in a blink of an eye. Arthur jumped in fear as Alfred let out a yell, Ivan knocking out Lukas before Alfred could get an more injuries. Alfred stood, his clothes burnt and his pride hurt, "OFF WITH HIS HEAD!"

Arthur raced down the hallways with Ludwig as they reached the cells, when Alfred had stormed off with Lukas's limp body he'd dropped the key. Arthur ran towards the cell and unlocked it quickly, "You lot, go and save the other prisoners, Lukas is going to die if we don't act fast! Ludwig you take Gilbert and start heading back home! Allistor, you help the others escape, Angus you and I will find Abel, grab Lukas and run like hell, understood?!" They all nodded quickly before splitting up, Arthur and Angus running through the castle to the large courtyard. They bumped into a tall blonde man, his hair sticking up towards the sky's and a scar above his right eye, "Hey- Angus what-"

"No time, we're escaping now! Lukas is on his way to his deathbed!"

Abel nodded, "This way." they ran once more towards the courtyard, where Lukas laid his neck down on the cold stone.

The executioner's ax held high, ready to kill, "Fuck were too late!" Angus shouted.

Alfred stood on the balcony, "Off with his head!" he cried as his disciples cheered. The ax began it's journey down wards as the trio watched in horror, but before the blade could as much nick a strand of hair he was kicked aside by a figure. The crowd gasped in amazement, the figure quickly scooping up Lukas and making his way towards the trio. He jumped down, "Get him!" Alfred cried as the now group of five ran out of the castle, led by Abel.

They soon made their way towards a forest, somehow loosing the hordes of knights amongst the thick fog and plant life. Arthur panted heavily as Karou, Allistor, Ludwig, and Gilbert ran towards them. Allistor hugging Abel tightly, apparently there was a story or two to be told of them. Ludwig ran towards Arthur, "Are you all right? Everyone is safe?"

Arthur nodded weakly, Angus also nodding as Karou helped the Irish man steady himself. Ludwig patted Arthur's back and laughed, "Who knew you would be a hero?"

Arthur panted as he wiped the sweat off his forehead, "I didn't save Lukas, there was a man, and he swung in and saved him."

Ludwig looked behind Arthur, to only see Lukas standing there, bewildered, "Arthur there's no man, what are you talking about?"

Arthur spun around and looked to the others who had definitely seen the man, "B-but I-" Allistor shook his head, causing Arthur to realize that the man had fled, Arthur sighed, "Never mind Ludwig, it was probably a trick of the light."

Ludwig was silent for a while until he nodded, "Let's go home."

Feliciano ran up towards the group, along with a few other people, each hugging their respective persons. Lovino punched Gilbert before hugging him, shouting something about making him worry. Antonio hugged his friend Gilbert as they laughed together, enjoying the unity of the group.

They all sat in Antonio's house, drinking a few cups of wine or beer, celebrating, as was the rest of the castle. Arthur smiled as he listened to Allistors story, "An' then the prick goes, 'Well fuck Allistor, ye shouldn't have don' tha' huh?!' Like I'm at fault fer punchin that smug brat's nose!"

They all laughed as Abel began to protest, "Well it's not a good idea to punch the man who might end you." they laughed again as Allistor punched him in the arm.

Antonio sighed in delight as he saw Feliciano and Ludwig cuddling together on a couch, "Sad I missed out on the action, dios mio."

Angus snickered, "There wasn't much action, don't worry. The most action we had was when Lukas was going to have his head chopped off!"

Lukas snorted, "Was not, I had the whole thing under control."

Arthur scoffed, "Say's the one who was saved by us." they laughed again and gave cheers to the mystery man's heroic save.

Lovino looked around, "Were's Karou anyways?"

Mikkel, Lukas's boyfriend laughed, "He's hanging out with Emil, they're making up for lost time if you know what I mean." the group laughed once more, ah yes, this was nice, a drink in hand, friends, food, it was certainly a nice break from all the work.

Antonio nuzzled his face into Lovino's neck, "Maybe we should follow in their steps."

Lovino punched the Spaniard, "In your dreams bastard."

They laughed as Lukas and Mikkel stood, "Well we best get going, see you all in the morning." They waved goodbye, and soon everyone else began to leave. the last to leave were Feliciano, Ludwig, Gilbert, and Arthur.

Gilbert sighed as he looked up to the sky, Arthur beside him, "Arthur?"

Arthur looked over to his albino friend, "Yes?"

"Do you think that... maybe that man was Mathew?"

Arthur thought deeply on that subject, it could have been possible, the Canadian might have survived the sharp drop, but he didn't have much faith in that idea. "I don't know Gilbert, I just don't know."

Gilbert sighed again, Mathew's death was certainly taking a toll on the man, "I guess it's better to think he's dead."

Arthur felt his heart sink to his stomach, the thought was so heavy it made his stomach churn, he rested a hand on Gilbert's shoulder, "Well, maybe, since Francis can come back, Mathew will come with him."

Gilbert smiled, the first one anyone had seen in weeks, "I suppose you're right Artie, but I'll try not to get my hopes up."

Arthur smiled, the bittersweet theory hurting more than it soothed, "Yeah, well good night Gilbert."

"Night, see ya tomorrow eyebrows."

The Prussian walked off, a slight bounce in his step as he walked, Arthur smiled at his friends recovery and yet...Arthur felt a little saddened though, everyone else was in a relationship, even Gilbert had a loved one, despite his lacking in a physical body, while he laid in bed alone. He tossed and turned in his small bed, finding no warmth in the pillows and sheets. Eventually he found rest as he dreamt of another larger, warmer bed.

It all felt so real, there was even another person sharing the bed with him. A man with blonde hair and a broad chest pushed back Arthur's bangs and pressed a sweet kiss to his forehead before the door swung open and two children came barging in, laughing the day away. Yet as all things do, the dream ended, Arthur finding himself in his cold bed, alone.

XXX

Arthur, Gilbert, Abel, and Antonio sat at the large table, accompanied by the usual politicians and other important people. Abel was busy laying out the red kingdom's castle plans, Arthur adding in a few hidden passages he'd found, including the cell block.

Antonio thanked Abel after his presentation of sorts, "Well, we must decide on an action soon. What shall we do?"

One of the politicians looked up to the plan, "Well, we know where the throne room is, we could send an assassin to kill Alfred."

Arthur knitted his fingers together, "Alfred always has one of his generals by his side. If we were to do that, they'd have to kill the general first, then go after the king who had most likely found his troops. It would be a suicide mission, no matter how good our assassin is."

Gilbert nodded, "Arthur's right, we don't call ourselves Generals for nothing." Oh yes, Gilbert was indeed a general, having been discharged from duty after the big war and Francis's disapearance. Now he was practically a war hero, despite having done little to nothing, but no one cared.

Antonio sighed as he knit his fingers together, "Well there's only one option."

"What would that be?"

Antonio's expression was grim, "We go to war."
