Even monsters have their weaknesses.
There were few things in this world that Eren was afraid of. One of those though, was Erwin. The mastermind of his hell.
"Nice to meet you here." Erwin commented, smirking.
"Y-You too." Eren stuttered. His body told him to run, run as fast as he could. His heart told him to fight back, be brave and fearless. And his mind told him that he was shaking like a bug.
Erwin smirked, noting Eren frightened. "I know you won't mind coming with me, will you? Since your time is up, Eren."
Eren froze, shock rushing throughout his system. He knew this day was coming. The day that he would have to go back there. He already planned it out. Erwin would pick him up, drive him over and lock him up. This life was only temporary. It left some good memories, and he had sent the letter. He would have no regrets now.
He smiled, doing a slight bow. "Why, of course sir. I respect our agreement, as long as you have kept your bargain." He slithered out like silk, Erwin nodding in reply.
"They are alive. Thea has kept her promise with you. Their nearly eight now, correct?" He pointed out, making Erens heart ache. He missed them. Badly.
"Yes." He answered, keeping his composure.
"Well, come." Erwin noted, opening the black car door. "It's time to beat you back into shape."
Eren was sat in a chair, hands tied down. He was curious of why he hadn't been put on the helicopter right away, and could only pray it was good.
Erwin had walked in, with no one. Only a recorder in his hand, no weapon. He walked up to Eren, and observed him.
Then slapped him.
"How shameful, " Erwin snarled, making Erens confidence shatter. Just a few words from him could break his resolve, making him vulnerable. "What do you think your doing? Talking to them normally? Acting like your one of them? Disgusting." He slithered, every word hitting Eren in the chest like a bullet. "Your a monster, remember? So don't act like a human. Even I'm ashamed of your lies. Every. Single. Word. What are you thinking?" He spit out every word like poison, Eren traumatized. Every word sank into him as if he was quick sand, thick and deep. He shook violently, believing every word.
"And you? Love? Two different things, buddy. There on different planets, far, far away." Erwin pointed out. "It's impossible. No monster can love anything. Anything. You can't love that man, Levi. Do you know how embarrassed he'd feel if he found out? How traumatized? How disgusted? It's ironic, really. I can't believe you actually tried to love."
"... Stop... Please..." Eren spluttered, trying to hold back the tears that were obviously coming. "... Stop..." Eren whispered. He couldn't take it. He knew those things, deep inside him, but he didn't want to admit it. It hurt too much. It made him want to die of shame.
"No. You need to hear this." Erwin boomed, leaning over him. Erens shattered green eyes met Erwin's. "You are disgusting. You are horrible. You deserve to rot in hell." He whispered like daggers into Erens face. "You can't love. Psh. You don't even deserve to live. You will follow me back, willingly. You will go and be our test subject, obediently." He recited, Eren programming it into his brain. He was nearly broken, little slivers of hope being the only things holding him together.
"Now, for your your final treatment before we leave," Erwin said, lifting the recorder up. He then leaned over and whispered into Erens ear. "I am going to play every scream that you have caused. Every gunshot. Every death. You will hear everything." He shot out, Eren frozen. No. He could barely take it when he did them one by one. All together?
It would be worse than hell.
"Well, I'll see ya." Erwin said, laying the recorder somewhere Eren couldn't reach it, and started it. He didn't even look back as he exited and slammed the door. He sighed in satisfaction.
"Now," he commented, walking farther away from the noise in the room. "Let's go say hi to Levi, shall we?
"Levi!" Hanji yelled, coming through the door abruptly.
"What?" Levi groaned, barely looking up at her.
"Guess what I got! Mail!" She commented, smiling like a Chester Cat. "And before you say something like 'We always get mail, Hanji', " she pointed out, mimicking Levi's voice. "Look who it's from!" She boasted, thrusting the paper in front of him.
Levi rolled his eyes, looked up, and then looked back down.
Then he did a double take.
Did the return address say Eren Yeager? He snatched the note, Hanji smiling. It looked fresh, as if it was just sent. Hanji decided to watch tv, and Levi carefully opened it. It was a long letter, so he started to read it.
Dear Levi,
Yes, I am sending a letter to you, rather than talking to you in person. Maybe it's because I don't have the courage, maybe because I couldn't take it, I don't know. Just listen to me now.
I remember a lot of things, Levi, ones you've probably forgotten. Like when I met you, that cloudy day. It was like going through a routine. I had nothing else to do, except be something that everyone hated. Then, you showed up in my life. At first I thought, what a moron, he will be to easy. I believed that for about an hour.
Then I asked you out for coffee. Besides my cool, slick attitude, my heart could've been faster then a cheetah. I couldn't figure out at the time, so I ignored it. Then when you mentioned your friend, Petra, I felt something go through me. I didn't know what I had inside me at time either, so again, I ignored it.
Also, that night at the bowling alley. Lightning struck me, and I finally realized that I felt at least a little something for you. But then you kissed me. And my emotions flew all over the place, in a messy, discombobulated pile. I felt sparks fly, and it seems like bricks in my heart. Not on my shoulders, on my heart. I am a truly horrible person, Levi. I haven't told you anything about me. About how many people I've killed. What secrets I hold about what happened to me.
When you left me on that day I told you so, I fell apart. I threw chairs, I drank a lot, I screamed and cried. I couldn't help it. My world was torn in two, and it affected me more than anything else. I thought 'He's just a guy, another stupid dude who I played with in a fun game'. I tried desperately to convince myself that. But I couldn't. Because on that day, I realized something very important. Something that would be a blessing and a curse.
I have memories. I have scars. 'I am not worth Levi.' That is what I always thought. It was quite recent, when you picked me up near the park. I had flashbacks. I had nightmares beyond comparison. I can barely contain myself from crying, let alone be near you alone. Especially since I realized how I feel. That's why I tried to get away from you. But how can I get away from you when you kiss me passionately?
I was in heaven. That minute was pure bliss, Levi. I thought it wasn't real. Angels were calling my name for the first time in years. I couldn't believe it. I wouldn't believe it. You see, when you went farther, I thought 'What about those bullet holes? Those secrets you've been hiding? Wouldn't he be absolutely disgusted with you?'
Because Levi, I am a monster.
I pushed you back to keep you away. I pushed you away so I wouldn't lose control. Where you playing with me? Did you figure out? Or was I just paranoid? Questions. So many of them. But one thing was certain; I wasn't guaranteed unlimited time here.
So, here it comes. The big three words. It's stupid, right? I mean, people lie. How can you tell if their telling the truth or not? But I want you to know that everything I say is true.
I love you.
No matter how dirty I am, no matter how horrified I am of myself, I couldn't help it. 'Love is not a choice', as my mother said. I might just be the stupid brat that's a criminal, but I'll tell you, I don't believe in fairy tales. I think it was when I first met you, to tell you the truth.
So, when I'm gone, when I'm dead, when you don't care anymore, I'll still remember. I don't ask you to love me back, Levi. That's too much to ask. All I ask is for you to read this and accept how I feel. Cause falling for you was something I never planned.
I'll say it as many times as I need to for you to get the point. I love you. I love you. I love you. I love you. And I don't say that to just anyone, okay? I love you. No matter what.
I'll be gone when you read this, since my time is up. Levi, I recommend you not come after me. I am far worse than what you take me for. So, the main point of this message is: I, a monster, fell for you. So get over it.
I'm sorry. Because at first it was a game, but I lost control. And fell in love.
Eren.
"Fuck," Levi slithered out, enraged. "Fuck, FUCK, FUCK!" He yelled, crumbling the paper. "You shitty stupid ass brat! Why the fuck give me this now!?" He yelled at the inanimate object, Hanji coming over.
"Don't touch me.." Levi warned, Hanji stopping at the sight of him. He was a total mess. "Call his fucking sister and that kid Armin. Get their asses over to Yogurt Drive immediately." He snarled, Hanji picking up the phone calmly.
"Does someone need to die?" Hanji asked, smirking.
"Why, someone doesn't deserve to go to hell."
Mikasa and Armin were parked at the corner, Armins face still tear-stained. Levi had pulled up, opening and slamming the door shut. Hanji was right behind him, with the same attitude as him. Pissed off.
"Look, I've got a lot to explain." Levi started, and then froze.
It sounded like chuckling.
"Oh, I didn't know it was this Levi that Eren was talking about." The deep voice answered, and right then, Levi knew. He knew that this was the man. He turned around, seeing the mans face. His eyes widened.
"Erwin..." He asked, Hanji clearly as surprised as he was. But that wouldn't last long. As if in harmony, Mikasa and Levi both went for erwin.
"Where the hell is Eren?" Mikasa snarled, Erwin sighing.
"Now, hold up, hold up!" He said, putting his hands up, smirking.
"Wouldn't you like to see what Erens been hiding?"
