XI.

RODNEY

Rodney was in an extremely good mood. He had completely forgotten how it felt to wake up beside someone else in the morning and although he and Evan could not do it every day because of those annoying cameras, it did not bother him as much as he thought it would as just the mere thought of Evan's soft skin and blue eyes made Rodney unable to focus on much else. Some of his minions had actually thought he would become nicer to them now that he was actually getting some but Rodney could proudly admit that he had squashed those hopes into a million pieces before the thought could spread to the other dunderheads he was forced to interact with on a daily basis.

Right now he was looking for Sage who was somewhere, in a corridor looking at a transporter that had been having problems. It had sent people to the completely wrong places and sometimes it did not even open. It was humorous when it was Fields trying to get somewhere but any other time it was just plain frustrating, Rodney was just glad it was not a transporter he used on a daily basis or else he would have gotten a mental breakdown by now. He used the transporters all the time to get to places faster and easier not having to run across half of Atlantis by foot with tons of paper and other stuff with him.

"There you are! I've been looking for you Sage, I tried to page you but you didn't answer," grumbled Rodney when he finally found his assistant.

Sage did not seem faced by his grumbles, instead she just smiled broadly at him giving him her best innocent smile.

"Hello Doctor McKay, how're Major Sexy holding up?"

"Evan's fine."

"Oh good, I just thought he looked a bit pale and unsteady a few days ago, and Colonel Sheppard looked ready to kill and well I don't know a lot of people have acted weird included you Rodney and I'm worried, okay?" said Sage, her big brown eyes widening when they looked at him.

"Don't worry Sage, it's just Fields…"

"Of course," huffed Sage indignantly, "the man's a major creep and I'm proud to tell you he haven't had a warm shower for like a week now but why did you ask me to do that? I mean the man's a creep and he deserves it but why now?"

"You're too smart for your own good Sage."

"Why thanks but why don't you just get to the point and tell me?"

"Fields… he…," Rodney was not sure how to say it, "Fields he tried to…"

"Tried to what?" asked Sage a steely undertone crawling into her voice but did not get further before she was interrupted by a loud voice.

"McKay!"

"Oh God when speaking of the devil…" muttered Sage but Rodney shushed her before he turned towards his most hated enemy.

"Ah, Mr. Fields how can I help you?" asked Rodney trying to make his voice as sugary as possible.

He felt so disgusted with the man standing in front of him, red in the face and panting, that he had a hard time concentrating. It was hard to keep his emotions in check and off his face.

"I want you to fix my shower! I'm getting tired of there being no warm water!"

"Oh that's not possible, I'm afraid, everyone's showers break now and then, you're not the only one who has to suffer through it." Rodney felt very proud of himself that he did not let his smugness of Fields' misfortune show too much.

"So it's normal to only have freezing cold water?"

"Yes, you're welcome to try but right now everyone has to shower with cold water so there's no point in whining over it."

"Doctor McKay's right, there's been some problems with the pipes these past few days and so there's no hot water." Bless you Sage thought Rodney giving her arm a small squeeze of recognition.

"Doctor Walker did it look like I was looking for your opinion?" asked Fields with a sour look on his face.

"It's Warner, not Walker."

"I don't care Doctor! Well if it's a problem then fix it! I won't tell you again!"

Rodney had to swallow a snicker. Sage hated it when people called her Walker, she had had a second grade teacher whose name had been Walker who had been a bitch, that was Sage's own wording and after that could not tolerate it when people called her that. Fields did not know it but he had just dug his own grave as certainly as the fact that Rodney was allergic to citrus.

"Mr. Fields with all due respect, we can't fix it any faster than we already are," said Rodney, it was as if he was explaining something to a deaf man, except a deaf man would have heard more than Fields did.

"Oh really, well do you know what I think? I think you're just making this up to annoy me," spat Fields.

Of course they were making it all up but Rodney would not tell that to the man eve under torture.

"Believe whatever you want, but there's something wrong with the pipes and that's the truth."

Rodney kept a neutral face and waited for Fields to respond, one he could practically see the wheels turning in the other man's head. As if Fields was trying to determine whether Rodney and Sage were lying or telling the truth.

"Just as you said Doctor McKay, I'll be the judge of that." Of course, Rodney had expected something like that.

Rodney did not even have the chance to say anything before Fields stormed down the corridor once again heading for the nearest sleeping quarters. There was not much else for Rodney and Sage to do than follow.

From the corner of his eye, Rodney saw Sage take out her pager, who she paged he did not know but he made an educated guess it had to do with the showers as the only room who did not have warm water at the moment was Fields' room.

Watching Fields drench himself in ice cold water was probably one of the most entertaining sights Rodney had ever had the fortune to witness and it took a lot of control not to smirk or laugh out loud at the fuming man. Beside him he could feel small tremors coming from Sage's body but not a sound left her mouth her face blank, even respectful if one did not know her. Rodney could see the laughter in her eyes and he silently congratulated her on her fast thinking and effective fingers, he would need to give her a raise after all this was done. After all she was indirectly the reason why he and Evan had gotten together and that meant a lot to him.

"So? Can we now go back to what we were talking about earlier before we were interrupted so rudely by Mr. Douchbag?"

"Not here, let's go to my office."

Sage gave a small nod and followed him back to his office, quietly walking beside him all the way. In a way her silence worried him more than if she had talked. Sage was nice and funny but she could be mean too.

They had barely gotten inside the office when she pushed him down into a chair and locked the door, turning around to stare at him with her arms folded over her chest.

"Speak."

"I'm your boss you know, you can't order me around."

"I. Don't. Care." Rodney sighed and got more comfortable in his chair.

"Fields tried to rape Evan, Fields attacked him Sage."

"He did WHAT to my favorite sexy Major?"

"Attacked him. You know how Evan's been a bit distracted lately? Well it seems as if Fields been acting a bit as a stalker and keeping tabs, I swear I could've killed the creep with my bare hands…," Rodney trailed off not really feeling like continuing, thinking and talking of what happened only made him want to puke or kill Fields.

"Fucking H Christ that man deserves to die!" shouted Sage, her hand balled into a fist and her eyes were blazing with anger.

"You're not the only one who thinks that."

Sage was quiet for a moment and Rodney actually had the time to get worried of what she was planning in that head of hers.

"Didn't you say that Fields stalked Major Lorne, Boss?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Because I've just had a epiphany," said Sage her whole face breaking into a large evil grin.

"Do I want to know?"

"Don't worry Boss, you just take care of Major Lorne and give him a lot of kisses and hugs and cuddle him a lot and let me take care of the rest."

"That's what worries me…" muttered Rodney as Sage waltzed out of the office cackling like a madwoman.

STARGATE: ATLATNIS

In the end Rodney had to admit that Sage's plan was actually quite good. It seemed as if Sage kept a very secret meeting where every woman working on Atlantis was invited to and everyone actually showed up, and secret it had been because Rodney only heard about it after it had been held. At this meeting she had proceeded to tell a very shortened and down played story of what had happened between Fields and Evan and gotten every woman on the base with her in her campaign. She said, "Just because Major Lorne can't do anything about it himself because of the DADT, doesn't mean anything can't be done about it. Every time Fields has ogled him, there has been people around and really what person really automatically assumes a man checks out another man, especially when both a supposedly straight when there's a woman standing behind the Major. Now, what if said woman feel violated because she too thinks Fields been watching her and not the Major, well she sends in a complaint and that complaint has to be taken seriously."

It was nice to see that so many liked Evan and wanted to help him, practically every woman on the base made a complaint about Fields in the last day or two. Now there was only like six days before the Daedalus would arrive and Rodney wanted to know what Sheppard had planned. The man had been uncomfortably silent and not seen very often spending a suspicious amount of time in his office and if not there then often found with the Commander. Evan had told Rodney a few nights ago that he trusted the Colonel, he trusted his friend to take care of it and Rodney knew there was no way the Grand Finale would be anything else but worthy of remembering. Because if it was one thing Rodney knew then that was John would never let a friend suffer, he took care of his own and made sure they would get their revenge if not directly than at least indirectly but Rodney had the distinct feeling Fields would not get away unscented from this encounter. He had made a grave mistake in making John into an enemy. The not so poor sod would be wishing he had never been borne.

CAMERON

After what Fields had done to the Major Lorne, Cameron had had to reevaluate about everything he thought and knew about Lorne but also on how he looked at the world. Of course, he knew there were people who had not had as nice a childhood as himself but it was not before he met John and now Major Lorne that he understood just as good he had had it. He had had two parents that loved each other and him and siblings and friends he could count on if he needed to talk or a shoulder to lean on.

When looking back on the week he had to admit people were really getting into the whole 'make Fields' life miserable', shower malfunctioning and doors not opening when needed to. Yes, just because Cam tried to keep out of it himself did not mean he did not know what was going on and even if he would officially know about it he would never be caught dead doing anything about it. In his opinion and everyone else's on Atlantis the man only got what he deserved, and if the man happened to be a bit less observant about what was going on then who was he to complain that he now could spend a minute extra in John's room without having to look over his shoulder or feel as if he was being watched whilst doing it.

Which was a relief as he was right at the moment on his way to John's quarters, 50 % of the reason was because he wanted to see his partner and 50 % because he really needed to talk to the other man. There was a very well outthought plan to how they are going to take care of Fields but something in Cam's gut told him that things would not go quite as planned. For better or worse, some things were just not right even if the man in question was a major creep and rapist.

Stopping outside of John's quarters, Cam stopped long enough to knock once on the door before he stepped in. John was lying on the bed eyes closed and with his hands underneath his head, he did not even stir when Cam stepped in and closed the door.

"Is that my pillow?"

"Yeah."

"No wonder I couldn't find it the other night," said Cam with a grin before he settled down on the bed beside John.

"Shut up…" mumbled John.

Chuckling softly Cam let his hand travel down John's torso, slipping his hand in under the other man's shirt enjoying the feel of warm skin against his hand. By the soft sigh coming from his partner Cam deducted John thought it was nice too. It was not unusual for the two of them to lie like this on the bed, neither one saying anything just enjoying the silence and company. Moving around Cam managed to maneuver them so that he was spooning up to John, his nose buried in John's neck, their legs intertwined with each other.

He was not sure for how long they laid there before he decided it was better to just get it over with; after all they could not stay there on the bed for the rest of the day that would not be a very wise choice. Especially with how comfortable he was, Cam knew it would not take long for him to fall asleep.

"What're you going to do to Fields John?" John's body stiffened for a millisecond before he relaxed again.

"We made a plan and that's what'll happen."

"You sure? I know you John, and because of that I'll say this to you, I can turn a blind eye to weird happenings, things like that happens all the time around here but a body?

Not so much," said Cam trying to convey his feelings as much as he possibly could through his voice.

When John started to squirm trying to put space between them, Cam was prepared and only tightened his grip he had around his lover's waist. It did not take long before John stopped trying to get away and settled back into his earlier position with a small huff.

"I love you John, you stubborn man and that means I don't want you to get hurt," whispered Cam into John's ear, "please, just promise me you won't kill him, that's all I'm asking of you."

John was a lot of things, brave, intelligent and real hero although the man in question would deny it to his dying day, but everyone knew it. But John was also a product of his environment, and he was capable of doing some nasty things, having learnt from an early age to take care of himself in the most efficient way possible and having spent so many years in the army, killing was something John had gotten good at. It was hard to admit but it was the truth.

"No one will die Cam, there are many things worse than death and you know it."

Just as he was about to open his mouth and answer his earpiece buzzed.

"Commander you there? This is Doctor Sakai. Doctor McKay told me to inform you that Mr. Fields had a small encounter with a shower and will probably be occupied for an hour or two but that you should be ready to hear about it soon."

"Thank you Doctor."

"What was that about?" wondered John who had turned around so that they were lying face to face.

"It seems as if our dear IOA representative thought someone was playing with him and so decided to check it out for himself and in the process got into a fight with a shower and sadly lost the fight," said Cam choking down a laugh.

"Serves the bastard right."

"Oh yeah?" Cam grinned broadly at his partner, flipping them over so that he was lying on top of John. "You know this does give us a few more minutes, after all I don't think Fields wants to walk around sopping wet so I dare say we've got a minute or two…"

Licking John's lips, Cam leaned a bit closer capturing those delicious lips in a heated kiss. They just tumbled around the bed a bit, kissing and touching as if trying to memorize the other one completely. Cam was hard and he could feel John's hardness pressing into him but he knew they would not have the time to do anything about it. In the end Cam had to pull away or else he knew he would not get out of the room before he had properly fucked John into the mattress and that was not the best plan right now, especially with the camera almost right outside John's quarters.

"I need to go, and you need to do some work babe," panted Cam.

"Don't call me that."

"Fine then, darling." The only reply he got was an annoyed eye roll from John.

Untangling themselves from each other was not fun, but Cam refrained from commenting and instead tried to straighten out his clothes so that they would not look quite as if had gotten straight out from a heated make out session although that was what he had done. He was sure the look would not give him any extra cookie points with their resident Mr. Asshole.

Cam left John with a fast kiss and a small ass grabbing he just could not help himself. It was an automatic movement on his part, his hand moving down to grip John's very nice and firm backside. He was not someone who had been big on asses before but then he met John and his perfect ass and things had changed. It was hard enough to will his boner away; thinking of some of John's more attractive than usual traits did not help him in his situation at all. In the end he succeeded, halfway back at his office and Cam thanked his lucky star he had not run into anyone to have seen him like that.

Back in his office, Cam sunk down into his chair checking the clock hanging on the wall. He had only been about 45 minutes gone, but it had felt as if he had only been gone for a few minutes. The thought of not being able to be gone for long without drawing attention or being spotted on a camera at a place you did not want to be placed at made sure there was always a small sliver of stress or worry knitted into every encounter he had with John and Cam could not wait for Fields to leave.

STARGATE: ATLANTIS

Cam was sleeping soundly when his earpiece buzzed before McKay's frantic voice came through.

"Mitchell!"

"What is it McKay?" Cam asked whilst trying to rub the sleep out of his eyes.

"There's been gate activity; John pushed Fields through the ring before he followed!"

"Well why don't you just follow through the ring?"

"We can't, stupid Sheppard and his stupid intelligence, he did something to the computers, we can't get through the gate is locked until he uses his own IDC from the other side of the ring to get back here to Atlantis!"

That if nothing else got Cam's attention, jumping out of bed he pulled on the first pair of pants and shirt that he could reach, Cam hurried out of his room.

"Something else I should know about McKay?"

"Yes there is."

The silence was deafening and Cam could hear his heart pounding in his chest when Rodney's voice once again filled his ear.

"The Colonel has a gun and we're the only who knows about it, for now."
