Now this chapter head back to Elphaba, Fiyero and their stay at Kiamo Ko. I won't say much about it but it starts off with Elphaba and progresses from there. So read and enjoy!
Chapter 7
Elphaba is standing on the top of the tower of Kiamo Ko taking a view of the lay out before her. The arid wind brushes against her skin and her raven colored hair is flowing behind her. She gives an exhale as she tucks her hair behind her ear. She knew this place can be very windy and she knew she should have put her hair so it wouldn't run wild with each gust of the wind. The green woman folds her arms across her chest with a thoughtful hmmm. This is her favorite thinking spot. She has thought about the good times she has had with Glinda, per the order of Fiyero. He didn't want to see her mope around the castle focus on the negativity on what has happened and why it happened. Elphaba's ears wiggle when a hawk cry echoes in the area. The green woman puts a hand above her eyes because of the hot sun glaring down on her. She scans the area to find the animal that made the sound. Fiyero has said that there are rarely any types of animals out here and she wants to see what kind of hawk it is. She looks above her to have her eyes narrow at seeing a red tail hawk circling above her. The hawk looks down at her only to gives, what she thinks it sounds like, a surprised squawk when it realizes that she is watching its flight pattern. The hawk gives an erratic flap of the wings before it takes off from its position. An uneasy feeling settles in the pit of her stomach when this even happens. It's like the hawk is spying on her. Why would it fly away so suddenly when she was just watching it?
"I think it's time to go inside." Elphaba whispers to herself as she quickly goes to the door to get inside. It really has unsettled her about the hawk. Could it be a Hawk and the Wizard is forcing Animals to spy for him? When she reaches the door she bends over and grabs the golden ring. With a slight grunt she pulls up the wooden door. Her body gives a shiver when a blast of cold air comes up from inside the castle. This place is so damn cold even with the fires Fiyero has going. Elphaba starts to descend down the stair while closing the door behind her. She is wondering if she should tell Fiyero about how the hawk reacted when it noticed she was staring at it. The green woman comes out into the hallway and twists her lips in thought. She is thinking where the Winkie prince would be at this time. From the sun position it must be high noon so maybe he would be in the kitchen cooking up some lunch. She was surprised with their first night here when Fiyero actually cooked up a very delicious late night supper. She almost didn't eat it because of the depression she had sunk back into but he was highly persistent until she gave in. He was very proud looking when the raven haired beauty exclaimed at how good it actually was.
Elphaba looks to her stomach with her skin deepening to a darker shade of green when it gives a loud gurgle. She really hopes he is cooking food. She starts her way down the hallway to see if Fiyero is in the kitchen.

Elphaba gives a satisfying sigh while she rubs her full stomach with a smile. That was a good lunch Fiyero has, once again, made for her and the two Horses. Who knew behind that carefree attitude and somebody who didn't care about learning is actually a serious cook. Elphaba kicks at a rock that is near her boot and watches it bounce a few feet from her. She can see how Glinda and Fiyero were drawn together. They both seemed flighty, clueless, and just seemed to dance through life without a care because they were rich, set for life. The two of them were actually kindred spirits. Underneath those blonde hair and blue eyes both are smart, caring, protective, kind and have a dry sense of wit. The green woman starts walking towards the rock to go kick it again. Maybe that's why she did what she has done with him during her stay in that rundown apartment. He remind her so much of Glinda and she clung on to it to keep her memory fresh of the good witch. Elphaba cocks her boot back behind her before swinging it forward to hit the rock again. It skips and bounces further away from her. She doesn't follow the rock but stares at it for a second before looking to the pocket of her black pants, which Fiyero has found in one of the many closets filled with clothes. She reaches for it but hesitates to plunge her hand in. A part of her is not ready to pull out the object that has been burning in her pocket since the day she saw Glinda die. Elphaba pushes past the hesitancy and fear to reach into the pocket. Her fingers touch the coolness of the metal. She grabs the object and pulls it out. Her eyes soften at the golden ring glistening in the sun. The raven haired beauty keeps staring at the jewelry, wondering if she is ready to wear it, in memory of her dead lover or should she say dead wife. Fiyero has been telling her when she is ready to wear it she will know. It is always then did she say when did he get so philosophical.
"I miss you so much, Glinda. You would hate it out here. No trees to sit under or cool breezes to caress your face on a hot summer night." Elphaba whispers to the ring with tears in her eyes but a smile is forming on her face at the memories she has permanently burned in her mind She remembers at Glinda's parent's estate the two of them would have picnics under the blonde's favorite tree and the day in the Emerald City, before they met the Wizard, where Glinda said 'I do' to become her wife. She exhales softly at that particular memory. It was one the best and worst week of her life.
Elphaba suddenly feels a cool breeze and she closes her eyes enjoying the rare coolness from the usually arid wind. Maybe it's a sign of some kind. She grabs the ring then holds it before her eyes. It twinkles in the bright sun, just like how Glinda's golden mane glistened in the rays of the sun. The green woman thinks it's time. Some time has passed where she can look at this ring and not sink into a deep depression. Elphaba slowly slides the cold ring onto her left ring finger. She holds her left hand out in front of her to admire the ring. It feels right to have it back on her ring finger again. She took it off her hand soon after she left Glinda on that train. She couldn't bear looking at the reminder of all those promises she made to her lover slash wife when they were in the Emerald City.
"Back where you belong." Elphaba says as if she was speaking to an old friend. It feels like a missing part of her had finally found its spot again. The raven haired beauty gives out a confident sigh as she turns back towards the castle. Today is the start of a new day on how she lives her life. She will not try to mourn Glinda's death anymore but try to celebrate who she was and the goodness the blonde brought into her life. Elphaba knows that Glinda wouldn't want her to mourn her for the rest of her life. She gives a jump of shock when a voice is yelling in fright.
"Help! Please help!"
The shouting voice gets closer along with thundering hooves pounding along on the ground. The green woman gives a sharp exhale at hearing Prince's panicked voice. She runs towards where she hears the Horse's voice is coming from. Something must have happened because she has never heard such fear in his voice before.
"Fiyero! Elphaba!"
Elphaba feels her forehead start to tingle from the sweat forming on it because of the arid and humidity of the area. She ignores this as Prince's voice is getting closer now.
"Prince, I'm here!" She shouts to make sure he is heading in the right direction. She rounds a part of the castle and nearly rams into the white blur shooting past her. She twirls around with wide eyes.
"Stop!"
Prince digs his hooves into the hard ground and comes to a screeching halt. The Horse whips his head around, his pupils dilated in fear. Elphaba puts a hand over her mouth in shock at seeing deep, red blood splattered all over his white fur.
"Elphaba, thank Oz I found you. You have to help me. Th-they took her." Prince says in a fast pace because the adrenaline is still pumping through his veins She walks up to him and puts a calming hand on his snout. She doesn't fully understand what is going on just yet. The raven haired beauty does a quick sweep of his trembling body to assest how badly he is injured.
"Who captured her?" Elphaba questions with concern in her voice. She notices very clean cut wounds on his chest, right side and on his legs. It seems he was fighting off whoever attacked him and Calypso.
"The Gale Force! We were out and about running through the nearest forest when they sprung out of the shadows and bushes." Prince's voice chokes up at remembering the soldiers jumping out with nets and swords drawn. He tried so hard with making sure they didn't lay a hand on his mate but with him being distracted they managed to get a hold of Calypso. When he tried to go after the soldiers who had her, the remaining Gale Force tried to capture him. That is how he sustained his injuries by taking down enough down so he could escape and get back to Kiamo Ko.
A fire lights up in the brown eyes at hearing what has happened to him and Calypso. The Wizard is still rounding up Animals and has gotten one of her friends. She won't stand by this travesty.
"Do you know where they are taking her?" Elphaba questions as she puts a hand on one of the wounds to try and stop some of the bleeding. She wants to know where they would be taking Calypso so they can stage a rescue. She doesn't want anything to happen to her especially if it is by the Wizard's hand. Prince's ears go to the side as he hesitates to answer the question. He knows Glinda will kill him if he sent both Elphaba and Fiyero into an Animal holding camp. The Horse should really play dumb about the location but he did call for help. He says a silent prayer of forgiveness to the gods and to Glinda.
"An Animal holding camp, I think I know where it is." Prince answers truthfully. Elphaba nods and looks him straight into his eyes.
"I promise we will get her back. First, we will clean your wounds and head out." She replies with determination. Prince barely nods his head to agree with this plan. The green woman rubs his nose before running off to the castle to inform Fiyero of what has happened. Prince waits until he is alone before he gives a whistle. The Horse watches the Hawk and Robin slowly appear behind the castle. He hopes he can get the message in time. He also hopes that Glinda won't kill him for brining Elphaba into a dangerous situation where they might not make it out alive.
Uh oh….Glinda won't enjoy hearing that report when she gets it. There is the old Elphaba coming back a bit with helping Prince get his mate back. Also Glinda and Elphaba were married? Hmmm….I wonder what happened with that. That will be touched upon later in the story, when you will have to find out just like you have to wait and see what is going to happen in the next chapter. Only for a couple of days though. Until Saturday.
