Ok, I said I would update the next chapter on Saturday and here it is! I'm so excited for you all to read this chapter cause it's really starting to get good. This chapter starts out with Silver telling Glinda what has happened and it goes from there. I don't want to say much about this chapter because you really need to read it. So with that said. Read and enjoy!
Chapter 8
Silver is panting slightly as he is running through the corridors of the Animal Resistance compound. He just received word of what has happened and he needs to get to Glinda immediately. They have to come up with a plan on what they need to do with this situation. The Wolf can't believe that one of his agents has been captured but Elphaba is going to try and rescue her. She is supposed to remain safe and hidden at all cost. Silver should have brought in the factor that Elphaba would do something like this especially when Animals are involved. She wouldn't let this injustice slip by her. Glinda will be so pissed when she hears about this. Everything has suddenly gone belly up.
"Whoa!" Silver shouts as an Ox is walking across a cross section. The Ox's eyes go wide and he gives a loud Moo! Of surprise when the Wolf is coming straight towards it at high speed. Their eyes close tightly waiting for the impact to happen. Silver, at the last second, slides onto his stomach and effortlessly glides under the big Ox before seamlessly jumping back to his paws, never breaking his stride.
"Move! Move! Move!" He shouts at the other Animals that want to block his path. Feathers are flying as Ducks fly to move out of the way. The Wolf jumps over a poor Squirrel carrying their nuts. Silver is panting as he knows as he is getting to his destination because the smell of Gilikin rose became stronger. When he gets close enough he puts his paws on the ground to put the brakes on. He gives a yelp of surprise when his legs come out from underneath him and he tumbles over.
Glinda takes off her glasses and turns her head towards the partially open door when she hears a loud crash just outside it. The blonde sets her glasses down desk before her and with a huff got up from her chair to see what has caused the noise. She pushes the door open to walk out into the hallway.
"Ugh…"
The blonde looks to her right at the groan and covers her mouth with her left hand at seeing Silver, with his half of his body up the wall and his tail is almost tickling his nose. She swore she saw his eyes twirling around in the eye sockets.
"How did you manage this?" The good witch says with humor in her voice. Silver's eyes stop twirling and he shakes his head to get rid of the stars around his head. With a painful grunt, he peels himself off the wall and wobbly gets into a sitting position. The Wolf looks to Glinda and opens his mouth to speak but snaps his jaws shut at the expectancy on the blonde's face. His ears go to the side in uncertainty. He doesn't how to tell Glinda what has happened.
"Silver?"
Silver blinks his eyes and looks up to her with a whine. The blonde gives a hard swallow and the amused smile disappears from her face. A bad feeling starts to stink into her stomach. Something has happened to Elphaba.
"I received word of Calypso being captured by the Gale Force and has been taken to their Animal camp near Munchkinland." Silver starts to give the report on the situation that has happened not too long ago. Glinda gives a horrified gasp and covers her mouth. She can't believe that Calypso has been captured so near Kiamo Ko. She thought it was a safe place.
"We need to send people in to rescue her. I will organize a party." She starts to say as she puts her left hand under her chin. Her mind is buzzing with different plans on how to free the female Horse. Silver swallows hard because he is afraid to tell her the even worse news. The Wolf's ears go flat against his head. He rather face 100 Gale Force guards alone then tell Glinda that her former lover has already mounted her own rescue.
"I...uh...Glin..." Silver starts off but stops and awkwardly scratches the top of his head. The blonde slowly looks towards him with one of her eyebrows raised. She gives him an expected look at to what else he wants to say and she just hopes it is about cute kittens he saw today. The Wolf doesn't make eye contact with her and places his eyes on the wall behind the good witch. He notices a crack that starts mid-way on the wall and goes up on the wall on an angle. He should get that repaired.
"Silver!"
He gives a surprised yelp with his fur puffing out in shock at the shout. He meekly makes eye contact with annoyed, blue eyes.
"Tell me what is going on or so help me I will put bows in your fur while you sleep." Glinda threatens. She is starting to get impatient with the Wolf. Silver loses his eye contact with her and inhales deeply to break the bad news.
"I…uh…Elphaba, Fiyero and Prince are mounting their own rescue attempt as we speak." His voice cracks at revealing what the three are doing. Crystal, blue eyes turn into dark, angry, stormy blue ones. Glinda's jaw clenches tightly and her neck cracks as she sharply turns her head to the side. Of all the stupid…leave it Elphaba to do something like this.
"She did what?" The good witch grits through her teeth. She is trying to keep calm and level headed but her blood pressure is going through the roof along with her temper boiling up inside of her. Silver is afraid to even reply to what he just said. There might be more than bows in his fur. Glinda didn't need a repeat of what has happened it is just a rhetorical question. This is a game changer and speeds everything up. The blonde reaches behind her to start undoing the knot of her sling.
"Wh…what are you doing?" Silver questions with a stutter as he watches the sling hit the floor. He knows what is coming next but he isn't sure if he can stop it. Glinda's lips twitch in pain while she moves her right arm. It moves stiffly from being out of commission for over a month and the pain is prominent but she won't let it stop her from what she has to do.
"Glin…"
"Don't bother trying to convince me. I have to do this. I won't let Elphaba foolishly jump into the line of fire and get hurt." She interrupts with conviction in her voice. She can't stand by and watch from the sidelines anymore. It is time for her to actively step in, even though she isn't one hundred percent fit. Emerald eyes soften at the clear devotion the blonde still has for Elphaba and for her safety. He won't stand in her way.
"If you let me finish, I was going to say be safe and bring them back safely. I will be waiting for your return." The Wolf finishes what he was going to say before the blonde interrupted him. He can only show his support for what she is going to do. A part of him wants to go with just so she has somebody to watch her back but he knows she won't let him go. If he goes down then this part of the resistance is without their leader. Though Glinda is more than capable to lead when he dies. She gets down to her knees before wrapping both of her arms around his thick neck. He closes his eyes and puts one of his paws on his back for a hug.
"Thank you." She whispers before looking him in the eyes then she gets up then runs off. The Wolf watches her to go meet her destiny. His ears go flat against his head at the thought of what Malky is going to say about all of this. Is it too late to go with her?

A patrol of two Gale Force soldiers walk past several rows of corn. Their guns are in their hands, their finger on the trigger in case there is an ambush on their Animal camp. Their boot steps slowly fade away from the corn stalks. A few seconds later the stalks start to shake as Fiyero's head cautiously appears and he looks around to see if the area is clear.
"It's clear." He whispers while he keeps a look out. The corn stalks to his right starts moving to a high degree before Elphaba' and Prince's faces pop out.
"You sure this is the right one?" Elphaba asks to the Horse. Prince nods his head with confidence. It's the closest camp to the area they captured Calypso. He looks up to the sky with his heart pounding in his chest. He just hopes the letter he sent to Silver got to him in time and reinforcements will be coming along to help them.
"I'm sure." He answers as he looks back towards the green woman. She bites her bottom lip while gripping the stalks of the corn tightly. She notices the guards carrying guns. This will be a lot harder than she realized. It's a Winkie prince, a green skinned woman, and a Horse trying to take on a well-armed camp. If Glinda were here she would have already formulated a plan in her head. She always was good at that. The blonde always thought before she leapt unlike herself. Elphaba would let her passion and temper get the better of her before she would think about any type of consequences.
"What do we do?" She looks to Fiyero to see if he came up with anything. The blonde looks to her and has an uncertain look. It is not a good plan but it is something.
"Well, I was thinking when they do patrol again Prince and I will jump out and take them out. I take one of their uniforms and get in from there." Fiyero tells them what his plan consists of so far. Elphaba wrinkles her nose because she didn't hear her part of the plan is. She puts a hand on her hip with a huff.
"And what will I do while this happens?" She questions. The Winkie prince scratches the back of his head. He doesn't want her to be hurt in this. He clears his throat and looks ahead.
"You will stay in the corn. I mean, they probably won't see you cause you blend in." Fiyero chokes out his reason on why Elphaba won't be doing anything initially. A dark eyebrow slowly rises up at what she hears. Prince turns his head towards him with his eyes wide as saucer. The Horse can't believe Fiyero just said that even he knows not to say something like that about her skin color.
"Cause I'm green." Elphaba states the obvious in the statement Fiyero just said. She breathes sharply through her nose before looking forward, of all the stupid thing she has heard. The raven haired beauty swallows hard when she is staring a barrel of a gun. She guesses they were talking too loud.
"Son of a bitch." She curses as she starts to put her hands up to show she surrenders. She subtly shakes her head towards Prince when it looks like he wants to attack. Its three guards with guns pointed at them. They could fire before he could take them down. Prince's nose twitches in irritation but relaxes his muscles. He will wait for the right moment.
"Well...Well...look what we have here. The Wicked Witch of the West the murder of Glinda the Good has brought her Animal friend and her lover." The front guard says with a smirk on his face. Elphaba's jaw tightens at being called a murder. She knows who killed Glinda and it wasn't her.
"Bullshit. You're the ones who killed her." The green woman hisses as her temper starts to flare up. She would never physically harm a hair on that golden mane. She wants to rip the guards apart with her bare hands. She grunts in pain when the front guard takes the butt of his gun and slams it hard in her face. Elphaba stumbles back while clutching the area where he hit. She can taste the metallic tang of blood hitting her tongue. Fiyero takes a step forward with his hands turning into fists to return the favor for hitting his friend. He stops when the cocked gun is pointed at his face.
"I will blow your face off before you could start swinging." Threatens the second guardsman. Elphaba spits out the blood welling in her mouth. That hurt more than she thought it would have. She looks to Fiyero and shakes her head no. They can be taken into the camp area and go from there. The Winkie prince unfurls his hands and takes a step back with reluctance. He will get his revenge later. The front guard looks back to his companions with a smirk.
"WE can just kill them now and get promoted when we kill the murder of Glinda the Good." He says as he casts his gaze on the two other guards. The other two nod their head in agreement. They will get their dues and not anybody else. Elphaba looks to Fiyero and they both simultaneously swallow hard. How will they get out of this? They are unarmed and against three powerful guns.
"Let's do it."
The green woman looks back and straightens up as she watches the three guards put their fingers on the trigger. It felt like time is slowing down as the fingers start to push on the trigger. She loses her eyes waiting for the inevitable bang of the gun.
"What the..."
Whoa!"
"Hey!"
She hears the guards give out these shouts and there are loud thuds that follow after the surprised shouts.
"By Oz"
She quickly opens her eyes and blinks her eyes. She notices the guards thrown about ten feet from their original positions and looks like they are unconscious. Her eyes travel to the figure standing in front of her. Her heart is pounding out of her chest and her throat is dry while moving her eyes slowly move upward past the black, leather pants. They go up the familiar curves of the body to the flowing, blonde mane and crystal, blue eyes making a connection with wide, brown eyes.
"Glinda?"
Glinda gives a soft smile and nods her head.
"It's me, Elphaba."
Elphaba feels light headed and weak in the knees. This has to be all a dream. She doesn't move when Fiyero falls to the ground as he faints from the overwhelming information that Glinda is alive.
Finally! After 8 chapters of being apart Glinda and Elphaba are reunited but will it all be sunshine and rainbows? Will there be hurt feelings that can't get passed? And will they all make it out of the Animal holding camp alive? Those questions will be answered next week Saturday. Until then!
