Hello all! Welcome to chapter 15 of 'Darkness of the Night'. This chapter is set a couple weeks after Silver's death. It begins with The Wizard and Madam Morrible celebrating their victory on the attack on the Animal Compound before it segways back to Glinda and what she is planning to do in this chapter. I won't say much again because you have to read it and I don't want to give away too much information. So read and enjoy!
Chapter 15
Two wine glasses, filled with red wine, hit each other with a clink followed by victorious laughter. Madam Morrible brings her glass to her lips and takes a drink of her wine.
"I must say, Oscar that was a marvelous attack on the Animal Resistance." Morrible says merrily as she shifts more comfortably in her seat. Oscar is sitting in his chair with his legs hanging over the left arm rest and his back resting comfortably against the right arm rest. He is staring at his wine glass with a smirk on his face. He didn't get Glinda or Elphaba in the first attack but they did get the leader of that division in the Animal Resistance. It surely would cripple the Animal Resistance in general. It's just a matter of time until it falls by the waist side.
"Indeed it was. It won't be long until the Resistance has fallen." He replies as he drinks some of his wine. He wants to get a bigger group of soldiers to go back and crush that Animal Compound into the ground. How that victory will be sweet as the wine he is drinking. As much as he wants to do it to bring finally end this trivial nuisance it is not part of his bigger plan. He will do it as an after thought once everything has fallen into place.
"Long live the Wizard." Morrible says as she raises her glass to the Wizard. His smirk grows wider and he looks to her while raising his glass towards her. Oscar plans on being the Wizard for as long as he can. Once the Animal Resistance is gone then he has secured his position forever. Nobody will be able to take his throne away from him then.
"Here, here." He replies before drinking the rest of his wine. He just needs to take care of Glinda and her damned Animals.

Glinda slowly peaks around a bush to observe the scene before her. She gives a soft hmmm at seeing at least twenty gale force soldiers walking around with guns in their arms. Some of them are walking between various cages of different sizes containing different Animals. They are probably making sure the Animals don't try to escape their prisons. She purses her lips in thought. Twenty soldiers doesn't seem too bad to handle in a fight. Though she does wonder how many soldiers are resting in the big, white tent in the middle of the camp. Glinda gives a very soft sigh as she is worried about how this will all turn out for them or if the information she has gotten is accurate. Well, they will find out soon enough.
The blonde steps away from the bush before kneeling back down. She looks at the people and Animals before her. This is it. They finally found the location to a major Animal holding camp. It wasn't hard to get information on it because the soldier, who killed Silver, was more than willing to spill the beans on all he knows about the locations to as many camps as he knows and anything on what the Wizard's plans are. The soldier was trying hard to make up for what he has done. That is how Glinda ended up here but she didn't strike away not without a plan first. The blonde made sure she perfected it before sending anybody in. She wants to be casualties at a minimum. They already had suffered enough from the losses they have sustained from the surprise attack. She is personally at this one because of a promise she made to Silver.
"So?" Fiyero question as he is sitting on the ground across from her. Glinda wriggles her nose in thought. It looks like they can claim this camp if they catch the Gale Force by surprise.
"I saw, at least, twenty soldiers patrolling and there maybe more in the tent. So, charging in is out of the question." She answers while running her fingers through her hair. She knew this wouldn't be easy. It if was they would have raided a long time ago. Elphaba, who is kneeling next to her lover, twists around to get a view for herself on the situation.
"What if we split up and circle around to hit them from both sides?" The green woman whispers her idea on how to attack the camp. Glinda looks up slight to picture how it would play out in her head. Elphaba turns back around and looks expectantly at the good witch to see if she approves or not.
"That could work. Fiyero could head ov-"
"I'll do it. You can lead the other group, Glin." The raven haired beauty interrupts Glinda's plan while ignoring the sharp look she is getting from the crystal, blue eyes. She is just lucky to accompany them in the first place. It took a lot of pleading and begging on her knees, literally, to be here. The blonde gives a slight huff at hearing this absurd notion. She will be damned if she lets her green lover out of her sights through the whole ordeal. Fiyero's eyes widen but he keeps his mouth shut. He knows better than to get in between those two when they start to argue.
"I don't think that's wise. You should stay by my side." The blonde replies as the green woman grits her teeth slightly in irritation. She came along to help out not to be under Glinda's protection. She knows she can do it.
"I can do it. I have my magic and half of the Animals at my side." Elphaba doesn't want to sound like she is begging to do this when she feels like she has done enough begging already. She wants to be in this fight to get back at the Wizard for all the evil he has done. The good witch exhales shakily with her eyes moving back and forth in thought. It seems like her green lover wouldn't take no for an answer. With great reluctance, she nods her head in agreement even though every part of her being is screaming 'No!'
"All right. You will take half of the group and carefully go around the other side to ambush them. Don't do anything rash or bold. Take down guards and rescue the Animals. If you found a black Wolf, tell me." Glinda instructs on what they need to do while they are taking this camp over. Everybody nods their head as they listen to the her. The blonde points to Prince, who is lying down behind Fiyero.
"Go with Elphaba. Fiyero will be with me. Be as quiet as possible when sneaking around and don't attack until I give the signal. Be safe." Glinda emphasizes the last part before she points to the Animals that will stay with her and silently tells the other half to make their way around camp. The picked Animals very quietly make their way to their designated spot. Prince stays in his spot to wait for the green woman to move. Elphaba hangs back slightly for a couple of seconds. She leans in and places a hard kiss on the waiting pink lips.
"Come back to me." She whispers before kissing her blonde lover again then she moves on with Prince right behind her. Glinda swallows hard as she watches the retreating figures with a heavy heart. She will only if Elphaba will. Fiyero appears by her side and touches her shoulder to give her comfort.
"She will be ok." He whispers to her. The good witch looks to him and nods her head. She will have to believe that lie until this is all over.
"Let's do this." She replies as she gets up and moves away from the bush. It's now or never. Her heart has never moved so fast in her life. It seems like everything is slowly starting to turn in their favor. She just hopes that luck will be on their side for this battle. Glinda slowly makes her way towards the camp with Fiyero and her group of Animals right behind her. It's time to turn the tide on the Wizard.
A soldier hears something approaching the camp. He puts his gun up and aims towards the noise.
"Lady Glinda?" He asks in shock when he realizes who is at the end of his barrel. He thought she is dead. He puts his finger on the trigger when she raises her hand up. He has heard about how powerful she is with magic. He will have to shoot because he has his orders to shot anybody or Animals who tries to enter the camp. Glinda the Good is no exception. The soldier squints his eyes when a bright light bursts into the sky and pink sparklers slowly disappear as they head to the ground. His heart freezes when Animals come out of hiding and start to charge into the camp. It's a raid. He quickly points his gun towards a Lion, who is running past him, but he goes flying backwards with a shout. Glinda watches him hit the ground with a smirk. Let Operation Rescue commence. She looks around and sees the soldiers are trying to fight back but they look unprepared by the sudden attack. The good witch waits to head into the fray because she wants to free the Animals out of their cages. They might want to get back at their captors. She hopes Elphaba can hold her own until she gets into the fight. Glinda runs towards the cages with determination. She hopes she can fulfill her promise. She gives a gasp and slides to a halt when a soldier steps out from one of the cages with his gun pointed straight at her. She didn't have enough time to react with her magic when a gunshot goes off. Glinda doesn't feel any pain hitting her and looks to the soldier, who slowly falls to the ground.
"Still got it." Fiyero says as he lowers his gun he got from a Gale Force soldier he took down not too long ago. The good witch sends him a grateful look before she heads into the throngs of cages. The Animals start jumping around while giving off growls and other noises. It make her heart hurt because they all lost their ability to talk from the oppression of the Wizard. She will make this right.
"Don't worry, you will all be free." She reassures them before closing her eyes. It's time to work her magic. She slows her breathing down to let the magic build up in her body. She just hopes everybody is ok so far. Glinda puts her arms to her chest while the buildup is getting hard to contain. The pressure is ready to explode but she needs to hold it in for a few more seconds. The good witch opens her eyes and swings her arms out to the side, releasing all the magic from her. All the cages suddenly shatter and blow apart, effectively freeing all the Animals from their prison. There is a pause before the Animals rush out with various yells in their native tongue at finally being free from their years in cages. Glinda gives a weak smile; she is weak for using so much of her magic at one time, at seeing part of her plan succeed. She tries to move away because she knows soldiers will swarm this area to control the now loose Animals but her legs give out from underneath her. She hopes Elphaba didn't see her collapse. This is why she didn't want her here because if the green woman saw this she would get distracted and possibly hurt. So the good witch wills her weak body to stand up but nothing moves. Glinda sees army boots step up to her and hears a gun cocking. That doesn't sound good. She slowly looks up until she comes face to face with a barrel of the gun.
"Really? I'm having the worst luck so far." She mutters out loud. She already had two guns pointed at her in a matter of minutes but this time she doesn't have Fiyero or her magic to save her. She swallows hard while she stares at it with her heart trembling. This isn't how it's supposed to be.
Glinda exhales sharply when a snarl comes near her and the guard screams in fear with a gunshot going off. Blue eyes widen as she watches a black Wolf slowly gets off a motionless soldier. The good witch can't believe her luck. She didn't actually have to look for Silver's mate. The she Wolf has rescued her from the Gale Force soldier. Her eyebrows knit together when the female Wolf turns to her and familiar emerald, green eyes lock with her crystal, blue eyes. This isn't Silver's mate. The eye color is all wrong. It's green instead of the icy blue. The fur isn't pure black because there is silver fur mixed in with the jet, black fur. Glinda gives a small gasp before covering her mouth when she comes to the realization of who this is before her. This is Silver's daughter.
Cue the cheezy dramatic music! Silver has a daughter he never knew about. Hmmm…wonder where is her mom in all of this? You will learn more about her in the next chapter and she will become integrated into the story for sure. Maybe will have a love interest. I'm still debating who she will be with. That doesn't come until later in the story. The next update will be on Monday. Until then!
