Hello all! I'm back from vacation! It was a very fun time in Disneyworld but I'm glad to be home though and have my own bed again. Lol. Anyways, here is chapter 22 for you all who have been waiting patiently for this all week long. I think it is worth the wait because it is a doozy of a chapter. Its ten pages long! It starts off with Glinda and Rain before being bumped over to Elphaba's point of view. I really won't say much because you just need to read the chapter because I might give away spoilers on what is going to happen. Oh right, a couple of days has passed since Elphaba has been kidnapped. Soooo…here is the anticipated chapter of 'Darkness of the Night'. Read and enjoy!
Chapter 22
Crystal, blue eyes are staring listlessly at the golden band resting on her left ring finger. It's been a couple of days since Elphaba has been snatched from her by Madam Morrible. Everybody has been keeping a close eye on her to make sure she doesn't go running off on her own to confront the Wizard by herself. As very tempting as it is to do, Glinda knows they have to come up with a plan that is near fool proof. The blonde knows Oscar thinks two steps ahead with everything he plans.
"Oh Elphie…" Glinda says with a heavy sigh as she looks up from the ring to watch the horizon. A hint of the golden ray starts to peak through the darkness. It's like a ray of hope shining down her. This must be a sign that things will get better.
"We will get her back alive."
The good witch jumps a mile in the air when she hears Rain's voice from behind her. She didn't realize that she had a spectator.
"I wish I had your optimism. I don't have the best luck in situations like these." Glinda replies with bitterness in her voice. She looks to her right when she feels a bushy tail hit her side. The Wolf looks up to her with those green eyes that are so much like her fathers. Her eyes mist up in memory of her dear friend. He would be doing the same thing his daughter is doing right now. He would be trying to cheer her up as well.
"It's true. Elphaba left me, I nearly die, Silver gets killed protecting me, and now Elphaba gets kidnapped. The odds aren't in my-Ow! What the hell is that for?!" Glinda exclaims when Rain nips her on her leg to get her to stop talking. The good witch gives a grumble while she rubs the area she was bitten. That really hurt. She looks at her hand to make sure the Wolf didn't break skin.
"So I can talk now." The Wolf replies smartly. Glinda gives a sigh before looking down to her. She really has no choice but to listen. She found out that Rain will say what she has to say no matter what. She is very persistent. Another thing she inherited from her father.
"I've learned from my experiences is you can't give up on hope. If you give up now then the Wizard has already won and Elphaba will be gone. Hope is the one thing that keeps us going. Don't lose it now not where we are so close." Rain says passionately. Glinda doesn't want to admit it that those words strike a chord with her. It's so much easier to give up after all she has been through, especially with Elphaba not by her side to give her these words of encouragement.
"You're so like your father." The blonde will admit that. He would be here telling her the same thing. Rain's eyes mist up at hearing this with her throat tightening up. It means so much to hear that coming from her. She hopes her father is proud of her.
"I will take that as a compliment." The Wolf whispers as she looks up to her friend. Glinda smiles gently before reaching down and rubs the top of her head with love.
"It is." Glinda replies with soften eyes. Rain closes her eyes with her hind leg moving up and down at that touch. That feels so good. Her eyes snap open when the good witch gives a loud gasp. She looks to where Glinda is looking at to see what caused the reaction from her. Her ears go to the side with her head cocking to the left. She has never seen this before in her life.
"A flying monkey?" Rain questions with confusion as she watches one start to make its descent to the ground. Glinda takes a step back with a hand over her mouth. It can't be. She has heard about the Wizard forcing monkeys to have wings so he could spy on the people of Oz. She thought they were just rumors but apparently they are true. A light bulb goes off in her head. That's how the Wizard knew where their compound is. Fear is spreading through her body as the winged monkey gets closer to them. Is it another ambush? If so, then there is no way they can defend themselves this time around.
Chistery is huffing slightly as he tries to stay his course but his right wing still hurts from the Wizard kicking him. He gives a squawk when his wing gives out on him and he begins his plunge to the ground. He slams into the dirt before sliding forward kicking up grass and dirt along the way. With a painful grown he stops mere inches from Glinda's feet. Blue and green eyes stare at the pitiful creature before looking to each other with confusion. They don't know what is going on right now. Chistery slowly pushes himself off the ground while putting a hand to his head. That could have gone better but he was in a rush to get to Glinda when he found out what was going to happen. He lifts up his left paw towards the good witch. He has a note for her.
"What is it?" Glinda asks gently as she kneels down to take the note from him. Her gut is telling her the winged monkey means her no harm. Chistery gives a chitter when she takes the note from him. What the Wizard did to him was the last straw. So when he found this piece of information he went to the soldier, who is his friend, and had him write out a note by sing the sign language the soldier taught him in secret.
Rain leans in to read the note as well. Her eyes widen at what is written. This can't be possible. She thought they had more time. Glinda's hands start to shake with tears rolling down her face. She will make sure this does not happen.
"Are you sure?" Rain questions sharply. She doesn't know if this just a part of the Wizard's plan to get Glinda to come to him or this is the truth. Chistery looks to her and nods his head. He would not lie about this. He does not want this to happen.
"We leave now. I will not let him do this to Elphaba. Get Fiyero." The good witch instructs as she crumples the note and sets it on fire in her hand. Rain nods her head before looking to Chistery. Her whiskers twitch before she kneels down towards him. He can come with her so they can talk. She can understand what he says in his own language. Chistery gives her a thankful click as he climbs onto her back.
"Move!" The good witch shouts impatiently. She is in no mood to be patient about everything. All that matter is that she saves Elphaba from a public execution that will be happening in hours.

Elphaba squints her eyes when she is pulled out in the harsh light of day. She doesn't know what is going on because she has been in the darkness of the cell for the past couple of days recouping from the beating she received from the Wizard. When her eyes adjust to the light they widen greatly when she sees a mass of people standing before the platform she is being dragged on. The people stretch back as far as she can see.
"What the hell is going on?" Elphaba asks out loud but grunts when one of the soldiers hits her on the back of the head. They sure like to hit people here.
"Let's burn her."
"Make her suffer for Glinda's death!"
Elphaba exhales sharply when she hears some of the things being shouted by the citizens of Oz. The Wizard is having her killed in front of them and they think that she killed Glinda. That must be the Wizard's twisting what happened to make him look good. She knows this is not a very good situation she is in. Before she could struggle to get free Elphaba feels shackles being placed on her hands and ankles.
"Shit." The green woman curses as she tugs on the chains but her sore body doesn't let her put too much effort in it. She gives a frustrated sigh as she leans her back. Why do these types of situations happen to her? She uses her tongue to play with the cut on her bottom lip. The raven haired beauty can feel the cut has been healing up pretty well. Her body doesn't feel as sore or is in much pain which strikes her a bit odd because the Wizard really beat the shit out of her.
"Hey!" She shouts when somebody threw a cup filled with water at her. She looks out while trying not to smirk. These stupid people still thinks water burns her. All she has is just a wet stain on her shirt nothing more. Her eyes narrow and her hands turn into fists when the Wizard's voice booms out.
"People of Oz! I welcome you to the execution of the Wicked Witch of the West. The murder Glinda the Good!"
Elphaba sharply looks to her right to when she hears where his voice is coming from. She tries to move towards him but forget that she is chained down. This is all his fault. He has twisted the truth to favor him. She looks back to the crowd with bitterness in her heart. If they only knew they are cheering for somebody who is the real wicked person. She swallows hard when she sees him pull out a gun. This just got real for her. At any second her life will end with a bang. At least it won't be anti-climactic by trying to pour water to make her melt. They would be highly disappointed when she doesn't melt.
"By my hands, I shall avenge Glinda's death and end her wicked ways." Oscar continues whipping the crowd into a frenzy.
"Kill her!"
"End her now!"
The green woman has never heard such hatred thrown at her but they don't know the truth so she is trying not to let it bother her. The Wizard makes his way towards her and with each step the dread feeling sinks deeper and deeper into her body. It's only mere seconds till her lift ends. She inhales deeply when he stops in front of her and points the barrel to her chest.
"It has been fun, Elphaba." He says as he cocks his gun. The green woman closes her eyes, waiting for the inevitable bang.
"Stop!"
The crowd gives a gasp of shock at the very familiar voice echoing above the crowd. She doesn't need to open her eyes to know that it's Glinda.
"It's Glinda!"
"She's alive!"
"It's a miracle!"
Oscar puts the gun down and takes a step back when Glinda floats down in a bubble, right in front of Elphaba. He scowls at this. She is in impeccable in her timing as always. The blonde is here too early for his plan. He is supposed to kill the green woman to get her into a grief frenzy that she will come here and that's where she will slip up. Though he will not let this deter him from his plan. The bubble disappears to reveal a determined good witch. Elphaba feels relief set in but it is quickly replaced with fear for Glinda's safety.
"What are you doing?" The green woman hisses softly. Glinda resists the urge to slap her for saying such a thing to her. She wouldn't forgive herself if she didn't do anything and just let her wife die.
"Executing a rescue plan." The blonde whispers back never letting her eyes move off the Wizard. Oscar quickly regains his composure with his fingers running through his hair. He does pick up the murmurs coming from the crowd. This might cast him in a bad light since he has been saying Glinda is dead but he can work around it.
"Glinda, a pleasure to see you again. I thought you were dead." Oscar says as he lowers the gun to his side. He has to fake being pleased at finding out that she is alive. Glinda gives a scoff and rolls her eyes. What a crock of crap he is trying to pull. It will be a pleasure when he is dead.
"Cut the crap, Wizard. You know why I'm here. I'm here to rescue an innocent woman." The good witch raises her voice loud enough so the citizens can hear her. The crowd breaks out in loud murmuring as they confer with what has been said. The Wizard lied about Glinda being dead. What if he has lied about everything else? Oscar doesn't show any sort of panic but remains calm and collected. The blonde has to hand it to him, his poker face is immovable.
"It is clear that the Wicked Witch had captured Glinda and made us believe Glinda was dead." He booms as he turns to the crowd to cast away any doubt that has wormed in their minds from what the good witch has said. He gestures back towards Elphaba. He isn't scared because he already had all of his backup plans made out if his main one has gone askew.
"She held Glinda against her will and brainwashed her into believing she isn't evil. I promise you her reign of terror will end today and Glinda the Good will finally be free from her hold!" He yells as he gets the crowd all riled up again with his impassioned speech. They are soon jumping up and down while shaking their fists at Elphaba.
"Kill her now!"
"Free Glinda!"
Glinda's eyes darken at what she hears and fire forms in her hands. She can't stand it anymore. She needs to bring him down once and for all.
"You bastard!" The blonde hisses as she walks towards him with the fire growing from her hands. Elphaba pulls on the chains with an exhale. She doesn't feel right about how this is going to go down.
"Glinda, don't…stick to the plan you came up with." She pleads while she watches her lover get closer to the seemingly oblivious Wizard. She has never felt so helpless in her entire life.
"You fucking bastard." Glinda reiterates as she lifts her hands up to throw fire at him. Oscar turns towards her and cocks his head to the side. It seems that the good witch has finally learned some offensive spells. Good, this fight will be more interesting.
"I don't think so." He replies while casually lifting his hand up towards her. Time to show off the ace up his sleeve. Elphaba watches as the blonde gives a shout before she goes flying backwards from an unseen force. She turns back towards the Wizard who is standing there with his hand still up in air with no burn marks on him. He actually used magic on one of the most powerful witches in Oz and won. The green woman thought the Wizard didn't have an ounce of magic in him but it's clear that he does. This changes everything. Elphaba casts her eyes back towards her wife to see her still lying on the ground. How she wishes she could be able to run to her side to see if Glinda is all right. The green woman looks back when she hears a gun cocking near her. Her heart stops beating when she sees the Wizard standing before her with the gun pointed at her.
"Time to put part two in motion. Goodbye Elphaba, It's been a pleasure." He says as he puts his finger on the trigger. Glinda slowly sits up from her position with a groan. When did he learn magic? Her blood freezes when she hears the sound of a gun going off. She looks towards it and her eyes widen in horror as she watches Elphaba's body fall, in slow motion, towards the ground.
"Elphaba!"
A hush falls over the crowd at hearing the anguish cry coming from the good witch. She scrambles to her feet to rush over to her lover's body. She is hoping her worst fear isn't coming true. She can't handle losing another person she loves so dearly especially the woman she calls her soul mate. Her breathing is short but heavy when she finally arrives to Elphaba's body. The crowd is whispering among themselves as they continue to watch the scene unfold. Glinda's eyes tear up at seeing the bullet hole in Elphaba's chest along with her deep, red blood forming into a pool underneath her. There is no movement coming from the green woman. It feels like the good witch's hear is breaking in two. The pain is like a two ton stone on her chest and it is making it hard for her to breath. Her shaking hands hover over the green face.
"No….no….you can't be dead." Glinda's voice trembles as she looks into the lifeless, brown eyes. She reaches up and pulls down the green eye lids to cover those eyes. She can't bear to look at the death in them. Her reason for living has been cruelly pulled away from her. She bends over to place her forehead on the already cool forehead.
"Elphie…" She sobs heavily as her tear drops hit the green woman's face. Her nightmare that she has become a reality. They were supposed to defeat the Wizard and get remarried. Now all she will be doing is burying another loved one. When this is all over the good witch will bury her body next to Silver's.
"At least she didn't suffer." The Wizard says with sarcasm in his voice as he walks towards the grieving Glinda. This is a wondrous sight to behold. The ever confident Glinda the Good is now a broken woman. Glinda pulls her head off of Elphaba's face with pure rage in her eyes for the man before her. This is all his fault. It is time to reveal what she has been holding in for months. It just seems like the perfect time to reveal it.
"You bastard, you just murdered you're daughter!"
Oh no! Elphaba has been killed by the Wizard. Poor Glinda she just lost the person she loved with all of her heart. This is a depressing chapter indeed. The Wizard knows magic too. Hmmm….how interesting. Then Glinda reveals to him that he just killed his own daughter. How will he react to that? Is Elphaba truly dead? Well…you will have to wait for the next chapter for answers to those questions, which will be updated on Wednesday. I hope you all enjoyed this chapter. I will see you all in a couple of days! Till then
