Author's Note: Hey everyone! Here's an update for you guys! This chapter is a little short but I hope that you guys don't mind! Enjoy!
There was a moment of silence between the two. Alfred was having a hard time processing what he had just been told. Once it had dawned upon him that Arthur was just trying to get revenge, Alfred still was unsure of what to say. There was a long pause before Alfred finally spoke.
"You're…. Insane."
"I loved you! I still do!" Arthur snapped. This caused Alfred to stand, a deep frown across his face.
"Get out." Alfred's voice was calm but there was always calm before the storm.
The Brit just blinked, as if he were confused by these words.
"Get out." Alfred repeated again.
Again, Arthur stayed put, still looking confused.
This time, Alfred spoke louder, voice clearer than before. "Get out! Get out of my room! Leave me alone and never speak to me again!"
Startled by these words, Arthur left the room and didn't return.
Finally, Alfred would sink back onto the bed and frowned. He couldn't believe that Arthur thought that he could win him over that way. What a moron. The American curled up and turned to look out the window of his room. It was a nice day out but he didn't feel like going anywhere. Of course, against his better judgment, he decided that some fresh air would be nice.
Alfred would dress himself and pull on his jacket, leaving the room and heading out. He would try to go to some new places. Not any of the ones Francis had taken him to when they were visiting this place together.
Once outside, the American blond took in the fresh air and began to wander off, enjoying the sights, smells, and sounds of Annecy, France. It was just as beautiful as he remembered. Looking around, Alfred found a small café and took a seat. He would order the local favorite; his French weaker than it was back then.
Waiting for the drink, Alfred would hum softly to himself and stare off. He would only be brought back to reality once his drink was given to him. He paid for it and sipped it silently. There was a gentle breeze and the American man smiled to himself. It was the first time he smiled since he had arrived. But something about being here was calming. He would shut his eyes when another breeze came through. When he opened them, he was shocked and any chance of happiness in that moment had faded away.
"Francis? What are you doing here?"
"I should ask you the same." The man said, frowning some as he waved down the waiter and ordered himself the same drink.
"I came here for a break." Alfred replied simply.
"A break from what?" He asked, frowning some more.
"You…" His voice shrunk, eyes now looking down at the table he was seated at.
"So why come here?"
"I don't know… I guess a part of me missed this place."
"It is a beautiful place." Francis gave a kind smile, though it didn't reach his saddened eyes.
"Yeah. It is…"
"You know… I wanted to apologize about that." The smile faded again.
"Why did you do it?"
"I told you it was business." Francis said softly. "But… I lied about that."
Alfred frowned. "What was it really about then?"
"I…" His gaze shifted to the side. It was almost as if it were hard for the other to talk about this. "Alfred, it was something that happened long ago."
"You hurt me, Francis."
"I know. And I was hurt that day too." He paused and then let out a sigh. "Alfred, he was blackmailing me."
Alfred frowned. He didn't want to believe the other. It just seemed better if they both pretended that it was Francis's entire fault. But it couldn't work that way.
"He caught me forging signatures on an official document. He was going to turn me in unless I had sex with him." The man frowned more.
"And you agreed?"
"It wasn't like I wanted to." Francis spoke up, now staring at the other male.
Alfred was staring back. "Francis. Why did you never tell me?"
"I guess I was too afraid of hurting you. But… I realized that by not telling you, I hurt you even more." He frowned, looking away.
"I hope you don't want me to forgive you because I can't."
"I know you can't and I don't blame you. I just thought you deserved to know."
