Katherine Beckett (KBPOV)

Just like Castle promised me, when I was woken up by my biological clock he was there by my side. His arms holding me against his chest in a protective way; he appeared to be in deep sleep, which was normal after such emotional night.

I took a look at the clock and saw that was 6am, if I started getting ready now I could get at the office before 8am, but, I wasn't in the mood for work and Castle and I had a lot of things to talk. My intention the day before never was to break down; I couldn't remember the last time I broke down in front of someone, if I had to guess I would say probably the last time was a decade ago.

Trying to get away of Castle arms so I could start my day, I slowly untangled his arms from my body, and his legs from mine; I got up put one of his shirts and one of his boxers, walking slowly to the bathroom trying not to wake him up and closing the door behind me.

When I entered the bathroom, a part of the feeling that I felt the night before came rushing towards me. When you are an addicted, just because you resisted the object of your addiction doesn't mean that you are cured or that the next day you won't have the urge to use/drink the object. And that was what happened to me, since the feeling that comes with the urge wasn't strongly there; I used all my inner strength to fight against it. As any addicted that is trying to recover, I didn't stay long near the temptation. I did what I had to do in the bathroom and rushed out of it. After everything that happened the day before, I couldn't let me write another word. I promised it to Castle, and for me. I wanted to be a better person and to be it, I needed to stop with old habits that lead me to be the person that I was and didn't want to be anymore.

I opened the door of the bathroom and rushed to the kitchen where I found Alexis.

"Good morning Kate, how are you?" She asked when I appeared.

"Good morning Alexis, I am fine and how are you?" I said entering the kitchen and looking around to make something for me to eat.

"I am fine too, how was the party?"

"It was fine, kind of weird. Some of them meet me when I was Peter's fiancé so we had some awkward moments. Also, Peter was there and thought it was a good idea to come talk to me." I said turning the coffee machine on.

"Oh, I can imagine it how awkward it can be. I can't believe he tried talked to you!" She said almost angry.

"Yeah, but don't worry. No damage done. We left him before he could say or do something wrong."

"Thank god! So, why are you up so early?"

"I have to go to the office. Sadly, I am a workaholic. I am just waiting your father wake up but if take much longer I will have to leave. When you school starts?" I said taking a bit at a piece of toast and drinking my coffee.

"It starts at 8am."

"Do you want me to take you? I was thinking of leaving at this time."

"I wouldn't mind if you can, it would be really nice."

"Okay, we will meet here at 7:30am. I have to start changing. Where is the guest bathroom?"

"Okay, I will be ready. The guest bathroom is next to my room, but I am sure dad wouldn't mind if you use his bathroom.

"I prefer using the guest bathroom. I will grab my things to take a shower."

"I will start getting ready too." With that she went upstairs to her room.

I thought that my idea of using the guest bathroom was a genius one; it wouldn't have anything that could use as a blade, so I wouldn't be tempted to do anything and I wouldn't disturb Castle's sleep.

At 7:20am I was at the living room waiting for Alexis so we could go when Castle woke up. I saw he leaving the bedroom, looking around probably trying to find me and rubbing his forehead.

"Hey Castle." I said walking to him and giving a peck at his lips.

"Hey Kate, good morning. Why are you already dressed?" He said circling my waist with his arms.

"Well, not everybody can work from home; I have to go to the office for a few hours. I can come back early so we can talk about yesterday. If you want I can pick Alexis up."

"Okay, do you want to go out tonight?"

"Not really, can't we just stay here?"

"We can. Go to work, come back and we talk about how things went last night. You got me really worried." He said kissing me.

"Sorry, I can't promise that it won't happen again but it doesn't happen often, so don't worry."

"Kate, I don't mind what happened yesterday, I said that I was here for you and I really am. I am worried about what was the reason of what happened. But, let's not start the subject; I will wait for you get back from work so we can talk about it."

"Okay, have a good day." I said when I heard Alexis coming down. "Hey Alexis, are you ready?"

"Yes, I am." She said giving a good morning kiss at Castle who moved to the kitchen.

"Okay, let's go them. Bye Castle." I said opening the door.

"Bye dad." Alexis said closing the door behind her.

"Hey Alexis, I will come early from work, do you want me to pick you up from school?"

"If you don't mind, I would like that."

"I don't." I said opening the door.

When I opened the door I almost went blind, a few paparazzi was outside and when they saw me they went crazy screaming my name, asking questions and taking pictures. I pushed Alexis towards me and hugged her hiding her face. I whispered into her ear:

"I am sorry; I didn't know they would be here. Walk with me." We started walking and the paparazzi started opening the space. When we reached the town car I opened the door and put Alexis inside it. I looked back to the paparazzi, gave a small smile and entered in the car.

When inside I turned over Alexi and asked if she was fine.

"I am fine, thanks. Wow that was crazy!"

"Yeah, it was. Why people are interested in me? I am just a lawyer. I am sorry for the problem; I really didn't know they would be there."

"Hey Kate, don't worry. Thanks for protecting me."

"No need to thank, they were there because of me."

After we finished with the apologizing and thank you ritual, we stayed quiet until I dropped Alexis at school. When I arrived at work, had a few more paparazzi but the security from the office building helped me with them.

When I passed through the cubicles and the offices, people looked at me totally different, I didn't know why. Almost all of them knew me from at least 1 year; when I arrived at my office, Patricia came running behind me.

"Hi boss."

"Hey Patricia, how are you?"

"I am great; hum… everybody is talking about you and Mr. Castle, do you know that you two are all over the newspaper and gossip site?"

"No, I didn't. Why people are so interested on us? When I was with Peter nobody cared and I still went for the same things."

"Well, maybe because like almost all of the newspaper and gossip sites are saying and I quote: 'Katherine Beckett was engaged to the heir of one of the richest family of New York but apparently it wasn't good enough. Now, she is dating Richard Castle, the mystery writer and also best seller all around the world, just after few months breaking up her engagement.' Sorry, I didn't want to read but at the same time I wanted, you are always so private…"

"Don't worry Patricia, I get it. Well, these people don't have anything better to do! Let's get back to work and worry about that later."

When she closed the door behind her, I put my head between my hands, took a deep breath and said to the empty office:

"Today, it's going to be a long day."
