Flying High
Chapter 3
Leo felt a sudden surge of warmth as Nico pressed his lips upon his own. For a moment he thought he was on fire, although it wouldn't have mattered. He wouldn't have bothered pulling away from Nico long enough to check. Although the kiss was intended to be harsh it had some how managed to melt into a gently, passionate movement. Leo looked at the boy in front of him, eyes wide. With a deep exhale of breath Leo allowed himself to loosen up slightly, tension flowing out of his body. At first Leo thought of pushing Nico away. He quickly discarded this solution as he saw Nico's eyes flutter shut, a feeling of utter bliss overtaking him. He was afraid taking this moment away from Nico would once again bring out the tears and, even though he wouldn't admit it, the kiss wasn't bad. Nico's grip loosened around Leo's neck. Nico's fingers tenderly slid under the collar of the other boy's shirt, cold hands dancing across Leo's warm skin causing the boy to quiver.
After another moment Nico drew away slowly, still feeling the sensation of the warm, wet kiss upon his lips. Nico's tongue danced between his lips, slowly moving up and licking his lips. He could still taste Leo. Opening his eyes slowly Nico waited for the scowled, the cry of anger or the sting of a slap. He didn't expect Leo to be completely understanding of his actions. Some part of him wished the boy would slap him or at least show some kind of emotion. Sitting there in silence was unnerving to Nico, making him anxious for the fury that was bound to come at any second. Nico gasped slightly as Leo leaned forwards, pressing his forehead against Nico's own in a loving manner.
Leo stared at the boy across from him feeling warm and fuzzy. A wave of warm breath danced across his face as Nico exhaled deeply. Nico's face turned a dark shade of pink, now embarrassed by the closeness between the two of them even though minutes earlier they had been making out. Leo found this kind of strange yet sweet. He couldn't help but wonder how he could have considered Nico a enemy. Nico looked so young and innocent as he sat there the redness of his cheek visible against his pale flesh. He looked so lost. His dark eyes widened slightly out of fear, fear of the silence that had now settled over them.
"You alright?" Leo slowly placed his hand on Nico's arm in a comforting manner.
Nico swallowed harshly, biting his lower lip. It took a moment but he finally nodded back to Leo signaling that everything was fine. Leo's hand slowly drifted downward taking hold of Nico's hand, clutching his fingers tightly.
"I still don't understand you." Leo gave Nico a small smile.
"What do you mean?" Nico's face snapped up to Leo's.
"One minute your crying saying that your so lost and hate yourself and then the next minute your sitting here kissing me as though everything is fine. I just- I don't understand. I asked you what was wrong and you kissed me. That doesn't give me a answer." Nico gazed at Leo for a moment before putting his head down with a sigh.
"I do feel lost. I don't know how to deal with this." Nico motioned towards Leo and then back at himself. "This kiss. You and me. I- I like you Leo. A lot. But I mean- I thought I loved someone else, too. Although I kind of got over him, I mean it still feels so wrong to even think about it. I hate myself for feeling this way."
"We don't decide how to feel. It just kind of happens." Leo muttered quietly.
"I know, but I- I just…." Nico gave a growl of frustration.
"You know what." Leo said thoughtfully. "I kind of hate you."
Nico gazed at him, eyes wide with hurt. "W-What?"
"I hate you because you hate yourself. Then I hate myself for your hate making me hate you and then I hate you even more for making me hate myself for hating you because you hate yourself. But then I just- wait, what?" Leo asked confused by what he just said.
Nico gave a slight laugh before looking down once more, a smile lingering on his lips. Leo gazed at him for a moment before smiling as well.
"You know what, forget I said anything. I don't hate you, not at all. In fact I think your pretty great Nico." Leo said wrapping his arm around Nico's shoulder, pulling the boy closer. Nico gave a sigh of relief. His head slowly moved to the side being supported by Leo's shoulder.
"You look tired." Leo murmured quietly.
"I am." Nico replied with a quiet yawn. Before long Nico closed his eyes.
Leo gazed down at him surprised to hear the boy snoring slightly. It's funny how everything had turned out. Maybe Nico wasn't so bad after all. In fact, him and Leo might just become friend and, if Leo had any say in it, more than friends. With a sigh Leo leaned back against the railing. He didn't have the heart to wake Nico up so they could back below deck. Instead he just let the boy lay there in a peaceful sleep. Leo yawned loudly before closing his eyes and giving a light sigh.
Before to long Leo had fallen asleep as well.
