The next thing Flame knew, she was lying down in absolute darkness. But this darkness wasn't the kind of darkness that was calming to the nerves. This was chaotic, horrifying. What was different about this place, however, was that she could see herself. Completely. "What the- where am I?!" she thought, panicked. Her thoughts raced. Then, she thought of a horrifying possibility. "No…no! No please don't- I can't be.."
"Oh, trust me, girl, you're not," a cruel, husky voice answered her thoughts. Flame turned around and saw two blood red eyes. "now, behave or face my wrath!" The rest of his body came into view.
He was one of Flame's species.
His face appeared to be a mirror image of her own, though she soon realized the coward hid behind a chrome mask. In the upper part of his mask, two short golden horns were visible. Two angelic wings were mounted on his shoulders, making his impressive- looking armor look dull. "Who—w-what—" Flame stuttered.
"I don't answer questions," the warrior spat, pulling a lance out of its sheath. "However, you are going to answer some questions for me." With that, he pinned Flame down in one swift motion, holding his lance to her back. "First of all," he said with a cool, cunning edge. "Why aren't you completing your mission?"
"Mission?" Flame sputtered. "What mission? Who are you?!"
"You know what I mean." He stated dully.
"No, no I don't." she spat with venom, trying to control her temper.
"Must I explain everything?" he muttered under his breath. Then speaking up, he said, "You were told back at base that you were going to be sent off, and, once you were at your destination, kill off anyone that might oppose us and/or the residents of the closest village and castle in which you arrived; afterwards coming right back. But no! You let the Star Warrior go about his business and alert others of his broad! Answer me, fool!"
"I don't want to be one of Nightmare's pawns, you-" her breath ran short when the warriors lance sliced her back. "Dang you!" she screamed, struggling under her captors superior strength. "How'd you even know my backstory?! What do you mean by 'base'?! Who are you?!" After hearing the stream of questions come from the child's mouth, the warrior briefly let her go so he could kick her in the "head". Flame went limp with pain as she fell to the floor.
"I suggest you shut your mouth before I stab you, you foolish piece of trash." The warrior growled as he pinned her down again. "Second, are you developing any other powers other than invisibility?"
"Like I'd tell you if I was, and—wait a minute, how'd you know I have invisibility powers?" she interrogated.
"Well, what do you think?!" he spat.
"I think you're a stalker!"
A dark chuckle was then heard from the warrior. "I'm afraid you're mistaken, Dolerosa," he cackled; Flame could sense him smirking under his mask.
Flame scoffed. "The only thing you managed to get wrong so far is my name-"
"Let me finish!" he screamed. Calming down, he continued. "As I was saying before you ever-so-rudely interrupted me, I'm no stalker, but just a servant. A servant following orders from his master. You know," Leaning uncomfortably close to Flame's "ear", he whispered, "What you should be doing…"
"You were sent by Nightmare, weren't you?" she said. "What am I talking about? Of course you were! Well, ya know what?! You can tell him that he can forget about whatever he was going to do with me; I am never, ever, following through with his little plan, because I'm joining up with the Star Warriors!" Her eyes turned blood red in anger and frustration.
The mysterious warrior sighed. "She's too far gone," he thought. "Nightmare's not going to e very happy about this at all."
"Oh, well."
"At least now I can get a bit of blood in my system."
While he was thinking this, Flame managed to kick him, knocking him down. But, alas, while he was falling, the warrior managed to slice her back once more, causing her to collapse with shock, eyes turning white with tears streaming out of them.
Getting up, the mysterious warrior pinned down the helpless girl. Flame then felt an odd sensation in the middle of her back, where the wound was. She felt her bodily liquids drain from her much too quickly from a slice in the back. "W- what are you doing to me?!" The sensation on her back stopped and replaced with… breathing?
"This," she heard the warrior's voice by her back. "This is what happens when you disobey your master." Her thoughts raced as she tried to piece together what was happening.
"Stop it! Stop it now! Please!" she pleaded as the sensation in her back began once more. Fear took complete control of her already suffering thoughts as she began to cry larger amounts of tears.
"Oh, boo hoo," the warrior said sarcastically. "Like I care! You asked for it! Now, let me drink in peace."
"Drink? As in my blood?!"
"What do you think I meant?"
"LET ME GO, YOU INSANE PHYCOPATH!" she screamed. All of her attempts to shake the warrior off her had failed. Soon, she became so weak she could barely move. "Am I dying?" she thought. "No, I can't be! I… ugh… yes…" the last of her strength was gone.
"I'm…"
"…dying…"
"No…"
"I won't die, I can't die like this!" Her strength was replenishing at a very rapid pace. She could feel blood rushing through her veins once more. "I WON'T DIE!" she screamed in her thoughts. Energy continued to gather inside the child, far beyond her normal amount. She felt that the wound in her back had knitted up. With little effort, she shoved the warrior off her back. Flame was now the one pinning down the warrior, Flame smirking with the irony of it all. Seeing that she didn't have her sword with her, Flame picked up the warrior's lance and held it to the warrior's "chest".
"Die." Flame said darkly, looking away as she thrust the lance into his heart. There was no sound of metal scraping against bones, so reluctantly, she looked down.
The lance had phased through.
There wasn't a trace of blood to be seen. In fact, the warrior was laughing.
Laughing insanely.
Demonic whispering was faintly audible, slowly draining Flame's sanity. The whispering grew louder, the warrior's laugh ceasing. Flame curled up on the ground, trying to block out the now ear-shattering noise. The girl screamed, her sanity almost gone. "MAKE IT STOP!" she screamed at the top of her lungs.
Flame woke up in a cold sweat. "It was a dream," she thought, relieved. "Thank Nova it was just a-" her thoughts were cut off when an icy cold hand clamped over her mouth.
