Matthew shivered as he stood out on a snowy hill; he gazed out over the white scenery and the snow capped mountains in the distance as he waited for a certain Albino. He was going to spend this Christmas with Gilbert and was supposed to meet him at his current location around late afternoon.
Matthew shivered once again as he furiously ran his hands up and down his poorly insulated arms, wondering where Gilbert could be. It was a little past the time they were supposed to meet and Matthew was afraid the Albino might have gotten lost despite he being the one to pick the rendezvous location. His boots were lined with fur on the inside to keep his feet warm; sadly, he didn't think much of any real insulation for his upper torso and opted to dress in his signature red hoodie. Though normally his beloved hoodie was warm, it did little to keep him that way.
"Maple...Where is that man..." Matthew muttered to himself as he watched the smokey mist of his shaky breaths. Finally, Matthew saw a figure appear and sighed in relief when he identified the figure as Gilbert.
He waited for Gilbert to reach him, watching in amusement as the Albino struggled to pull his baggage and himself up the slope of the hill. He hid his chuckles behind a gloved hand as Gilbert finally reached where he was. Huffing a bit, Gilbert caught his breath before puffing out his chest with his goofy grin, "Your Christmas just got a billion times more awesome Birdie!"
Matthew shook his head and chuckled, " Sure Gil, sure. Come on I'm getting cold." He plucked his bags from the snow as he headed toward the little cabin that he usually stayed in for Christmas. Gilbert reclaimed his bags as he trudged after the Canadian to their temporary residence for the winter.
When they got to the cabin, it was cold and a bit dusty. Depositing their things on the floor, Matthew looked at the state of his beloved cabin with a pout, knowing that he would have to clean.
"Whoa, it's pretty dirty for being used every Christmas..." Gilbert commented.
" I'm not here every Christmas; I only come here when Al doesn't make me stay with him. Unfortunately I had to stay last year so I couldn't come here..."
Matthew sighed before heading to the little kitchen cupboards below the sink and retrieving the rags and cleaning liquids. Tossing one rag to Gilbert, they wordlessly got to work wiping down the whole interior of the cabin.
An hour or so later, both nations plopped down onto the couch clearly exhausted.
"Damn this cabin seems bigger when you have to clean it..." Gilbert breathed out.
Matthew simply nodded in agreement as he reluctantly got up to put away the cleaning materials and went to shower. Soon after he was done, Gilbert followed his actions and took a shower. When he came out, the smell of pancakes hit his senses before he headed to the kitchen.
He watched the Canadian cook food, always amazed at his skills. While waiting, Gilbert had a sly idea. He was going to place mistletoe hollies around key spots in the cabin where they would spend time together the most, but mostly just in doorways.
Somehow, Gilbert managed to produce mistletoe hollies and hurriedly hung them around the cabin. When he was done, he heard Matthew call him for food. Gilbert grinned at his plan before heading back towards the kitchen.
Matthew walked out of the bedroom from unpacking his things, only to come face to face with Gilbert. Confused as to why he wasn't moving, he grew nervous.
"G-Gil? Is something wrong?"
Gilbert simply smiled his toothy smile and shook his head, " Nope."
Before Matthew knew it, Gilbert leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on his lips. Shocked, Matthew stared at him. Gilbert laughed before pointing up, "Mistletoe Birdie!"
Matthew's gaze followed Gilbert's direction until it landed on green leaves and holly berries. A mistletoe. What? Wait a minute...
"E-eh, when was that there?" Matthew asked.
"Keseseses, the awesome me put it there. They're all over the cabin Birdie! Good luck escaping them!" Gilbert said as he smirked at his friend. Matthew could only blush, why would Gilbert do such a thing.
Gilbert chuckled before he hugged the Canadian and spoke into his ear, " If you haven't figured out my motive, I'll just tell you. Will you go out with the awesome me Birdie?"
Matthew's face exploded a shade of red as he hugged Gilbert back, burying his fac into his shoulder, muffling an agreement. Understanding, Gilbert grinned, pulling away from the blonde and kissing him once more, successfully making Matthew blush again.
Gilbert chuckled, " Still under the mistletoe."
"Erm right, let's move..."
"Keseseses, don't lie Birdie! you know you like it!" he cooed.
Matthew blushed for the billionth time, this was going to be a long Christmas.
Let me know how it was~! Happy holidays!
Cheers my dears~!
