Pairing: SpaMano ( )

Enjoy!

Lovino walked through the chilled streets of Italy with his hands nestled snuggly in the pockets of his warm winter coat. His gaze wandered about, the misty smoke from his breath coming in wavering wisps as he looked at the decorated windows. It had been a few months since Antonio had asked him to be his boyfriend, and like always, he grew a tomato red when Antonio popped that question.

He had finally decided to get Antonio a gift; since this was the first Christmas that they would spend together. Lovino wanted to show the tomato bastard that he cared, on the contrary to the things that he would constantly say.

Loving walked casually, scanning the window displays for something that could be the perfect gift for the tomato bastard. He figured that it would be more easier with someone helping him. Of course Feli was out. He would definitely be talking about pasta the whole time and whining about whether they could eat pasta for dinner. Then a thought popped into his mind; why not ask Bella? Lovino pulled out his cellphone and speed dialed her number. Bella was one of his best friends, what with growing up with her and all, so it was no surprise when she answered after the first ring.

" Ah, hola Lovino! How are you?"

Loving chuckled, " Hello Bella, ah... I need your help with...something..." he paused before continuing, "it has something to do with the tomato bastard..."

Lovino heard her laugh through the phone, " Sí Lovino, of course I'll help! You're getting Tonio a present no?"

Lovino blushed and retorted, " N-no I'm not!"

A few people looked at him weirdly and he returned them with glares, huffing. Bella giggled.

" Suuuure~! But I will definitely help you! Name a place and I'll be there in no time!"

Lovino sighed and told her where he wanted to meet her; after agreeing, they both hung up and he shoved his cellphone back into his pocket, balling his chilled hands in them as he headed towards their meeting place.

When Lovino arrived, he only had to wait a few minutes before Bella came. With proper greetings, they both entered the warm jewelry store and got to deciding a gift.

"So Lovino, what do you have in mind? A ring? A necklace?" Bella asked as she looked around.

Lovino wrinkled his nose, "Not a ring... I feel like those are for people getting married..."

"Well it could be a promise ring? You can customize it!" Bella reasoned.

Lovino thought about it for a while before sighing and agreeing. Bella happily clapped her hands before dragging her friend to the ring section of the plexiglass counters to look for what he wanted. They spent an hour or so looking at what they had in stock before inquiring to customize a ring. During their search, a jeweler or two had mistaken the pair as a couple, to which Bella laughed and Lovino glared.

As they met with the jeweler in charge of customizations, they sat down and discussed markings.

"So Mr..." the old jeweler began.

"Vargas." Lovino replied. The old jeweler nodded with a smile before continuing.

"Mr. Vargas, what were you thinking of? Or may I ask who the lucky lady is?"

The jeweler was a kind old man, obviously skilled in his craft and wise from age. He looked very welcoming and understanding.

Lovino frowned slightly, hesitant of the old man's reaction, " Erm, actually it's a guy..."

Lovino visibly relaxed when the old man simply smiled and nodded. So he continued, " Uhm, well I was thinking something simple," he grabbed an empty slip of paper before writing, 'ti amo' and drew a little tomato beside it. He handed the little slip of paper to the old man.

The old man nodded with a smile, " this can be done. Any thoughts on a ring design or do you opt for the simple band."

"The band, it'll be easier and faster for you that way." Lovino answered.

The old man laughed, " Oh Mr. Vargas you are kind but regardless of the design I will have it ready for you, but I thank you. Indeed it will be easy and quick to make. I assume sterling silver as well?"

Lovino looked at Bella, who gave an affirmative nod. The old man chuckled and wrote down the specifics, "Very well. This will be done in an hour or so."

Lovino smiled, " Grazie señore. We will be back in that time to see you."

The three people stood and shook hands before bidding their farewells. Bella dragged Lovino out of the store towards a coffee shop to wait for the ring. They casually talked for a while before deciding to return to the jewelry store.

When they arrived, they saw the old man smiling at them, "Ah Mr. Vargas! Just in time!" he took out a small leather box and opened it to reveal a simple band snug in the pillow holder. Lovino and Bella breathed in happiness as they looked at the band. As simple as it was, it was still beautiful. Thanking the jeweler and paying him, Lovino took the box and placed it securely in his coat pocket. The last step was to give it to Antonio.

The day was fading and Lovino thanked Bella for her help. "Grazie Bella."

Bella smiled and giggled, "No problem Lovino! Good luck! Let me know how it goes!" she waved goodbye to her friend before parting ways.

Antonio woke up a bit later than normal; he didn't realize how tired he was. Though one thing he realized was that he hadn't heard from Lovino the whole day yesterday. Normally the fiery Italian called him at least once a day to complain about something or came over for the hell of it. So Antonio was a bit curious. Just as he thought that, his doorbell rang.

Opening his door, he saw the said Italian with his signature scowl.

"Lovi! What are you doing here?" Antonio asked.

" You weren't answering your phone stupid bastard..." Lovino replied angrily.

"Aww, Lovi was worried about me~!" Antonio cooed.

"Shut up you tomato bastard, I was not! And are you gonna let me in or what? It's cold you know!" Lovino said with a heated face.

Antonio blinked before grinning, "Ah sí sí come in Lovi!"

He moved aside to allow Lovino access to his house before closing the door. They both headed to the living room before Lovino turned to face Antonio. " I have a..erm... Present. For you..."

Antonio blinked, " You got me a present Lovi?"

"That's what I said you bastard!" he blushed before digging in his coat pocket for the velvet box. He presented the box to Antonio all the while finding the ground quite interesting, " here..."

Antonio's eyes widened as he opened the box to see the banded ring. "L-Lovi," he breathed as he caught sight of the inscription on the interior and read it, also very pleased with the tiny image of the tomato. A grin broke out on his face as he slipped it on his left middle finger, happy at how well it fit. Antonio pulled Lovino into a hug, to which Lovino secretly returned happily.

"Do you like it?" Lovino asked softly.

"Mi amor, I love it. Es muy bonito. Muchas gracias."

He pulled away and kissed him gently, smiling at the little Italian. "Aaww mi tomate! Qúe lindo!"

Lovino blushed and tried hiding his smile to no avail, "Shut up idiota!"

Lovino couldn't be happier for Antonio liking his gift, and Antonio couldn't be happier knowing that Lovino loved him just as much as he does. It was going to be a great Christmas.
