So here's the next one coming to you!
This one is called Winter Wonder Walks
Kim woke up early this morning to go down to the dojo. She wanted to get some practice in before the holidays really hit. She slipped on some warm clothes and fitted her boots on her feet. Making herself a piece of toast along with some hot chocolate, her breakfast, she grabbed her bag and dashed out the door.
She trudged down the street moving through the light snow on the ground. She noticed that the town had started to hang the Christmas lights along the streets and businesses. It would be nice to get to see all of them on, but she'd have to wait until later anyway. She kicked her foot into the snow and little flurries danced around her, a silent reminder of yesterday. Jack had been so sweet, complimenting her and the moments almost made her melt on the spot. Jack seemed to be up to something, but as much as she wanted to play along, she had to keep reminding herself of the stupid bet with Milton.
Why oh why did she agree to that? Things would have been so much simpler without that bet. It's not that she wanted the $100 (even if it would be nice) she just didn't feel like giving that much away. He'd waste it on textbooks anyway; that is not why money was made.
Either way, she was wasting time and needed to get to the dojo. She walked through the doors to discover that only one other person was in there. That person had long, shaggy hair and was currently turned away from her, practicing another routine. She just stopped and stared. She couldn't help herself, the way he concentrated only on that one thing made her head swim. If only that focus was directed towards her every once in a while… No, it's not like he shares her feelings. Oh what she would give just to know.
She was brought out of her thoughts by her name. Jack had stopped his routine to discover that Kim had showed up. She appeared to be in a daze though. He called her name a couple times and she eventually came out of it. He gave her a look. She just smiled and shook her head.
"You're up early. Trying to beat the holiday rush?" She placed her bag on the ground and walked over to the mats kicking her shoes off.
"Yup. I'm gonna be a lot busier the days before Christmas, I want to get in as much practice as I can now." He picked up his bow staff again and lightly spun it with his hands.
Kim slipped off her jacket and placed it on the bench next to the lockers. She then moved to the mats and started doing some basic forms just to warm up. Eventually she started doing much harder routines. She reached one that she hadn't mastered yet and she tried and failed once again to complete the move.
As Kim continued to practice Jack stopped spinning the bo staff and simply held it straight. He watched Kim as she went through her different routines, his awe growing more and more as time went by. He stood there as Kim continued to attempt to complete one of the moves in her routine. Jack knew the move, having learned it from his grandfather, but he also knew that it was hard to learn on your own. He moved towards Kim on the mat and caught her as she lost her footing and almost fell.
"Hi." Kim said with a small voice looking into his eyes. He was so close, once again. Every time just made her fall deeper and deeper.
"Need some help?" He set her back on her feet but remained close.
"Uh, maybe. It's just this one move that I can't seem to do." She took a step back and tightened her ponytail. Why did she have to step back? Was she shy of this or was it something else? Did his breath smell bad? He hoped not. Bad breath was always a turn off, something he did not want to be.
"Well, it goes a little something like this." Jack executed the move with perfection, having it done many times before.
"I get as much, but I can't seem to get the kick high enough." She gave a huffed and rubbed her foot lazily on the mat.
"Okay. Why don't I help you walk through it slowly."
Jack moved over to Kim as she started the move, eventually she got to the part that she couldn't do and she stumbled backward again. Jack placed a hand on her back and steadied her. He then grabbed her one foot and slowly brought it higher and higher. They kept their eyes on each other as her foot neared her head. He continued to slowly guide her foot until it was almost at a vertical level. He then guided it slowly to the left and back down again, their eyes still connected. Jack slowly released her and both stood straight.
"So basically you complete the other part and you do what I showed you, but you know, faster." Jack's voice was soft and floated through the air lightly.
"Okay." She paused before going through the routine again, this time executing the move with perfection.
"YES! I did it!" She ran over and hugged Jack. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled a little closer, wanting to hold her like this forever, his body fitted against hers. Kim slipped away from his grip after awhile though.
"Say, we haven't used the dummies much in a while, we need to show them who's boss." Kim slowly made her way to the dummies clustered at the back of the dojo.
"Oh, you mean me." Jack's cocky side came out once again. Kim turned around and raised her eyebrow at Jack.
"Um no, I'm the boss of these dummies." Jack made his way over to Kim and turned to her.
"Oh really? How about a contest? Who can beat the guts out of the most dummies wins." He stuck his hand out towards her.
"You're on!" Kim took his hand and gave it a hearty shake. Sparks may have glided up the arms of both teens, but that didn't stop them from retreating to the dummies and beginning their contest.
~Hours Later~
Jack and Kim collapsed on the mats out of breath. They had been in the dojo for hours, having little contests, helping each other with routines, and just having fun.
"Okay that's it, I'm done for today."
"I second that." Jack stood up and pulled Kim up as well. They moved towards the change rooms and quickly put on fresh outfits before going out into the dojo once again.
"Hey, I noticed the park had put up a bunch of lights on the trees. Wanna go check it out?" Jack posed the question, wanting to spend more time with Kim.
"Sure." She made her way over to him and he took her hand. She looked up at him and both shared a gentle smile before turning ahead and walking out of the dojo. Jack locked the doors behind them and pocketed the keys The two then walked through the courtyard towards the exit of the mall.
Kim had not forgotten about the bet with Milton, but today she had decided to just enjoy herself, not wanting to make anymore moments with Jack awkward and send him the wrong message. She just hoped that moments like this would continue to last, and not end at some point in time.
They eventually reached the park and Jack led her as they walked on the sidewalk. The trees were covered with snow and the lights twinkled illuminating the walkway. They may have walked in silence, but the words not said were the most important. Kim leaned her head on Jack's shoulder and her wrapped his arm around her, rubbing her back soothingly.
They walked through the park enjoying the peacefulness as very little other people were there. Alone time was scarce for the two and they cherished it like gold. Eventually they made their way through the whole park and began their way home, still in the same position. Older couples noticed the two walking down the road and smiled and pulled each other closer remembering the love they felt for their companion.
As Jack guided Kim up her front porch he hugged her for a long period of time before releasing her and looking into her eyes. He then grabbed her hands in his and rubbed his thumbs across the back of her hand, not only bringing warmth to them, but also letting sparks fly up her arm and her fingers tingle. Her brought them to his lips and gave them a gentle kissing them before releasing them and walking down the steps. He turned around and gave Kim a wave before dashing over to his house.
Kim slowly raised her hand waving back, knowing clearly that she was too late. She sighed before opening the door to her house and stepping inside.
So? Did you like it? Sorry for the wait, but I hope this was worth it. I'll try to update faster.
