Hello everyone! I have a bit of writer's block in the case of a few stories I'm still writing so I decided to start this one. It sort of came to me after watching TV and I thought the characters would suit it. If you enjoy the story, please hit that review button!
Chapter 1: How it all starts
A few years after the events of Sonic heroes, everybody but The Chaotix matured into young adulthood. However, the older they got, the more their attitudes changed and tensions rose between each team.
Knuckles was the first to exit, then Team Dark unsurprisingly disbanded next. But it was the next three departures that really shook things up. This is the story of how and why...
Everyone awaited the day Espio grew tired of Vector & Charmy's antics and searched for more gainful opportunities. Once he did, no one had a clue where he went. This gave him time to practice his martial arts but another hobby had consumed him: Alcohol. The Chameleon's answer to everything was always at the bottom of every bottle.
It was a shock to everyone when the once cute, innocent rabbit Cream snapped on Amy, and then her mother Vanilla. She was tired of constantly being rejected by Tails and excluded by the gang. It was time for a change. From then on everything about her changed, as well. Her clothing, attitude and daily routines were just the start. She became more vocal about what was on her mind, no matter how rude or insensitive it sounded. And this was when Tails made the mistake of finally asking her out.
"To hell with you, I don't want to hear what you have to say. All these years you've made the excuse that I was 'too young' for you, but now that I'm different all of a sudden you want to date me? Screw you, Miles Prower! I never want to see you again!"
Tails stood in shock. The Rabbit stormed off back to her house and the fox sat on a park bench. Cream smirked as she'd finally gotten a chance to reject the boy who had done the same to her for years.
As if his day couldn't get any worse, a thunder storm started up and drenched him. Tails started his walk home, soaked from head to toe. But this wasn't the only thing in his life that was eating at him. Over the past three months he, along with Sonic, battled The Chaotix over reasons only Vector & Charmy knew. But then this issue became personal after Sonic refused to play their game and he and Tails' manhood were challenged.
The Chaotix reached another level. They had destroyed Tails' newest and most expensive project to date: The Stealth Tornado. Tails couldn't sit back and take this. The next few months Tails' stress and anger rose quickly and soon little things would set him off. The only thing that would settle him down was his affection for Cream. Tails always cared for her but for the longest time, only treated her as a friend. Times changed, everyone grew up (mostly) and he was ready to commit. But after the incident with her today, his dreams were smashed.
On his way back home Tails was hit with stink bombs, two containers of maple syrup and chicken feathers. Vector and Charmy laughed and took pictures of Tails, but the fox just kept walking. He didn't care about anything at this point, he only wanted to be alone. The final part of Vector's plan was to get Espio to spray paint a giant "C" on the back of Tails' head but The Chameleon stopped. He saw how miserable Tails was and he aborted the prank. He headed back to headquarters but Vector stopped him.
"What happened?!" The Croc asked, angry at this change of heart.
"We should leave the kid alone now, look at him. I think we got our message across." said Espio.
"Man, don't go soft on me now! We almost have this thing won! Don't you want to humiliate those two?"
"What the hell are we doing apart from wasting time? We've gotta work, man, we can't be playing stupid pranks all day."
Just before Espio could leave, Vector grasped his arm and stopped him in the middle of the street.
"You're gonna finish this and that's an order."
"The hell with your orders. If this is it, I'm out." Espio said as he pulled away from the Croc and began walking.
"You walk away and you're off the team!" Vector warned.
The Chameleon wouldn't look back. "I said I'm done."
Tails got back to Sonics' to clean up and get some rest. He walked past the kitchen where the hedgehog was and he couldn't help but laugh at the sight of his friend.
"Dude, you look like some kinda retarded chicken! Haha!" said Sonic.
"Thanks. Really boosts my confidence..." Tails replied.
"So how'd it go with Cream?" Sonic asked.
"How do you think? She told me to go to hell.. Hand me the soap.."
"What's the magic word?" Sonic asked, grinning ear to ear.
"Really? Just give me the damn soap, Sonic!" Tails yelled.
"Whoa, you watch that attitude, little bro." Sonic replied, throwing the soap over.
"Well if you had a crap day like I did, you'd be pissed too. You act even worse than the doorknobs who did this to me!" said Tails as he washed the syrup off this arms.
"You wanna get into this? Alright then, fine. Lets see, I pay rent, I pay for your supplies, I feed you-"
"So that gives you a right to belittle me? I'm the only one whose had your back since day one!"
"You don't know what's really going on, Tails, so stop trying to-"
As Sonic and Tails' argument grew louder, other houses on the street listened and Amy decided to step in once objects were being thrown. She raced over and came in to stop the fight.
"GUYS, STOP!" Amy screamed out as they started a shoving match.
Tails traded punches with Sonic, but was easily out-struck so he grappled him and the two smashed into everything in the house. Sonic and Tails wrestled for control, and punched as much as they could.
Amy called Big the Cat to come over and help separate the two. The Cat ran in and pulled the two apart, but Tails got loose and clocked Sonic again, starting round two. Sonic shoved Big out of the way and kicked Tails in the head, knocking him down. Sonic stopped and his eyes widened once he saw blood come pouring out of Tails' forehead.
"Crap, Tails… I-I didn't mean to-"
Amy helped Tails to his feet and he shot Sonic a dirty look before walking to his room and packing a back pack. Amy tried talking to him, but he said nothing. Just before he left, Amy stopped Tails in the doorway to try one more time.
"Tails, don't do this! You don't have anywhere to go.. just-just stay here.."
Tails looked over at Sonic, who was sitting at his dining room table staring at the pool of blood. Tails looked back at Amy and walked out without saying goodbye.
Ironically, during the fight with Sonic, Cream also had a bad fight with her mother Vanilla. The little Rabbit had already bought a train ticket out of Station Square and had just made it to the station.
Tails walked out of town, taking the small picture of him and Sonic out of his wallet so he could tear it in half. He followed the highway as far away from town as he could get. When his legs got tired, Tails flew down the stretch of highway.
Espio didn't hesitate to leave after his final words to Vector. He didn't need a bag of clothes because he could easily steal some new ones if he wanted. But all he wanted was peace from everything, so to the mountains he went. However, he needed some directions since he'd lost his way a long time ago.
The Chameleon walked into a bar to ask how to get to the mountains. After the bartender told him, he offered Espio a free first drink. Then the bottle became part of Espio after that.
With the departures from teams Sonic, Rose and Chaotix, everything back home was quiet and never the same. Everyone just had to come to terms with the fact that it was over.
