"Severus…please…" Albus Dumbledore saw the look of loathing—self-loathing, he was sure—flash across Severus Snape's face, and for one frightful moment, he was unsure of if the other man could. But then his lips formed the words, and the curse flew from his wand.

And Dumbledore welcomed Death…

He opened his eyes to find himself in what appeared to be his first home as a child…the one where Ariana had been tortured by those Muggle boys…where she had turned insane…

"Albus…" he heard the soft voice and pulled himself up into a standing position.

And there she was…there was his little sister…exactly as she had been all those years ago when she had died. She smiled sweetly, and he felt happiness swell inside of him. Oh how he had missed Ariana…

"Ariana…I am so terribly sorry..." He said, closing his eyes. "I brought that monster into our life…it's all my fault…"

He was not sure if she was sane in this life, or not, but he desperately hoped she was understanding him…

"Albus, please, don't be sad. It's ok. Everything's fine now. It's not your fault. It was those awful Muggles. They did this to me—to us—to our family. C'mon, Albus…you're safe now." She smiled at him again, bigger and brighter. "And I'll always be here with you."
