It's important to note, that I do not have Down syndrome, but I am "different". I know what it feels like to feel unworthy at time and like no matter what I try to do it's useless.
I hope you enjoy!

The night before our wedding we went out to a celebratory dinner with everyone…my Mom, my Abuela, her two Dads, Quinn and Brittany, and Puck and Becky.
One would probably ask me if I felt sorry that my Dad wasn't there. Go on…ask me.
"Santana, were you upset that your Dad wasn't there?"
Nope, not all. I was too overly happy to be upset or sentimental over the fact that my Dad wasn't there. He made his choices in life and I can't hold that against him.
Anyway we all headed to Breadstix, of course. We laughed and ate. We had a ball.
During the meal my Abuela stood up and immediately our table stopped talking.
"Am I really that scary?" she asked with a chuckle.
We all laughed.
"Anyway, I wanted to personally thank everyone for coming out with us tonight. When I first met Rachel I knew she was different. She has star quality written all over her. More importantly, I watched their interaction and I now know what true love looks like…"
She picked up her glass in the air and said, "To Rachel and Santana, may they have years of happiness…"
When the applause died down, she was still standing up. She looked down at me and said, "Oh, Santana, no jodas!" Then she smirked at me.
I had taken a sip of my water when my Abuela finished the toast. But i spat out my water across the table at what my grandma told me in Spanish.
"Um, Baby, you okay?" Rachel asked me concerned and confused.
I coughed and then said, "Yeah…"
"Um, do I want to know?"
"Um, probably not. Nothing bad…I'll tell you later!" I said and kissed the side of her head.
Then Rachel's Dad, Hiram, stood up.
"May I have your attention," he asked and then waited a second.
"My husband, Leroy, and I want to thank you for coming to celebrate the love of Rachel and Santana. When we first talked to Santana on the phone, after the 'Finn incident' I, for one, knew that our baby girl would be spending the rest of her life with Santana. During that telephone pow-wow it was evident at how much she already cared for Rachel. And vice versa. My husband and I don't have to worry about Rachel's happiness because her happiness lies with Santana. Santana, welcome to family. We love you both!" Hiram raised his glass with everyone else.
Afterwards we finished eating. Once outside, we said our good nights to my and her family. I went to grab Rachel's hand and head for my car.
"Where do you think you're going?" Brittany asked and stepped in front of us.
"Um, home, Britt…"
"No, you're not," Becky chimed in.
"Oh, no, Little B?" I asked with a smile.
"Yes, both of your parents gave us specific instructions. You're doing the whole tradition of not seeing each other until Rachel is walking to you," Quinn insisted.
"Oh really," Rachel played along.
"Ok, who's going with who?" I asked.
"Well, San, you'll be staying with me…if that's alright," Becky said.
"Sweet…is that okay with your parents?"
She nodded her head up and down. Then she grabbed my arm.
"And I guess that means that I'll be staying with the Fabrays?" Rachel asked with a smile.
"Yup!" Brittany said as she jumped up and down. Quinn grabbed Rachel's arm.
"Wait! Can't I give my girl a kiss good night?" I asked. It wasn't meant to be an actual question.
Becky released me from her grip and I strode up to Rachel. Pulled her into me and dipped her. Then I kissed her passionately on her lips.
When I returned her to a standing position, I whispered to her, "I guess I'll see you tomorrow. I'll be the one standing at the altar waiting for you to join me!"
"I can't wait. I love you so, so, so much, Santana. Thank you for wanting to marry me," she said to me.
"Thank you for saying 'yes!'!" I said. I kissed her again passionately.
"Ok, ok, that's enough," Becky said as they began to pull us apart.
I held onto Rachel for as long as possible, but Becky's strength was freakishly strong.
"That's my girl," Puck yelled when Becky finally separated us.
"I love you, Santana," Rachel yelled back as Quinn and Brittany pulled her to their car.
"I love you, Rachel," I yelled as Becky kept pulling me.
They got in their car and sped off. I watched the car turn the corner and wished it was tomorrow already.
"Um, Miss, you can stop pulling me now, ya know," I said to Becky who was still tugging me.
"Oh, sorry. I got caught up in it!"
I laughed.
"Hey, Puck, your girl has some muscles on her, ya know," I said and smiled.
"You don't have to tell me," he noted.
We got into his car and he drove us to Becky's house.
Once there, Becky and Puck said, "Good night."
I let them kiss in front of me, but it turned a little heated rather quickly.
"Hey!" I yelled to break it up, "If I can't do that tonight, you can't."
Becky got out of the car after that and we walked up to her house.
"Mom, Dad, I'm here with Santana," Becky yelled as we walked in.
They came walking up and Mr. Jackson was the first to say, "Hey. Congratulations, Santana."
"Thank you, Mister Jackson…"
"Yea, it's great to hear your news," Mrs. Jackson agreed.
"Thank you," I said shyly.
"Let's go upstairs, San," Becky pulled me up to her room and closed the door.
"How did my stuff get here before me," I asked.
"It's magic!"
"Oh, really? Well, that's pretty good damn magic," I said and laughed.
She smiled. "I'm gonna change. Be right back," she said and disappeared into her bathroom.
I quickly changed my clothes and got into sweatpants and a baggy tee shirt.
"Wow, you're quick," Becky said as she came out of her bathroom.
"Yup…So what do you want to do?" I asked happily.
"Well, I'm supposed to ask you if you've written your vows, yet?" she said as she remembered.
"You're supposed to? By who? And no, I didn't," I answered.
"Oh, you know, people," she answered as she walked over to desk and pulled out a pad of paper and pen.
"Here ya go," she said and smiled, "I'll be quiet and text Noah…"
"It's your room, would you like me to go somewhere else in the house," I asked.
"Santana, sit down!"
I plummeted down into her chair so quickly.
"Thank you," she said and took a seat on her bed.
Okay what do I want to tell Rachel that I haven't already told her? Should I sing it or just say it? What song should I do?
Then it came to me. Hopefully people won't know that it was lyrics from a boy band's song, but it described exactly how I felt for her.
I wrote the lyrics down because I secretly knew them by heart.
"I'm done!"
"Wow! That was fast. Would you like to practice," Becky suggested.
"Um, is it okay if we didn't…I think I'm good!"
"Sure," she said.
I smiled.
"Wanna watch a movie before bed," I suggested.
"Sure…you like 'Finding Nemo'?"
"Absolutely," I said as she grabbed the DVD and placed it into the player.
I got on her bed and leaned against the headboard.
I opened my arms and said, "Come here…"
"You sure?" Becky said hesitantly.
"Of course. When I watch 'Finding Nemo' I needs my cuddles," I said and smiled.
She ran to the bed and fell into my arms. I wrapped them around her and squeezed.
Before she hit the play button, I looked down at her and said, "Thanks for being my friend!"
"Thanks for 'rescuing' me from Karofsky and Noah…at the time," she said.
"Anything for you. Now let's watched this movie, shall we?"
She pressed play and the movie started.

Quinn, Brittany, and I arrived at their apartment over Quinn's garage.
I walked in and immediately noticed my overnight bag and I commented, "How did this get here?"
"Your fathers dropped it off earlier today," Quinn said matter of fact.
"Isn't it cool," Brittany asked.
"Yes, it is. What do you ladies want to do?"
"Well, first, there's a little business…" Quinn said.
"Oh, yeah, did you write your vows," Brittany asked me, "My vows to Quinn are ours so you can't use them, but I'm sure you'll think of something."
"I've had two drafts in my head, but haven't had time to write them down. Maybe I'll write them now," I said.
"Do you want us to leave?" Quinn asked.
"Of course not!"
"We'll be quiet," Quinn said as she grabbed Brittany's hand.
"I kinda wanted to make out, Quinn…But you're not quiet when we do that," Brittany said.
"BRITT!" Quinn yelled and threw her hands up in the air.
"What? It's the truth!"
Quinn lowered her head because she knew her wife was right. While her head was lowered she pulled Brittany's hand and they settled down on their bed. I sat at their kitchen table. I found a pad of paper and a pen sitting there.
I thought about my life before Santana, now with Santana, and what I want for the future. I was open to anyway the words wanted to come to me. Then, like a lighten bolt it hit me. I feverishly wrote.
Once I was finished, I picked up my cell phone that was next to me. I sent my Dad a text message.
TO DAD: Please make sure the venue has two microphones. Preferably standing... Thank you. good night.
I sent the message and then put the phone down.
"You finished," Brittany asked me.
"Yes, I am," I replied.
"Geez, that was quick," Quinn commented.
"My heart was writing," I replied hazily.
"Aww…hey Quinnie, did your heart write your vows to me?" Brittany looked at her wife of a year with such love and devotion.
"Yea, my heart always tells me what to do when it comes to you, my dear. You are my heart," Quinn said lovingly at Brittany.
Brittany grabbed Quinn's cheeks with her hands and brought her lips to Quinn's. They kissed passionately for a few minutes.
I looked on at these two women and thought that I had that with Santana. Before it got too weird, my phone chimed loudly thus breaking the kiss.
I picked it up and read, "Already covered. Good night baby girl. Sleep well."
"Who's that from?" Quinn said as she caught her breath.
"My Dad. Hey, there's no restriction on the tradition if I texted Santana is there?"
They looked at each other and shook their heads.
"Go for it," Brittany said.
Immediately I drafted a new text to Santana. I texted, "Goodnight, beautiful. I cannot wait to be 'Mrs. Rachel Berry-Lopez'! there are no words to express my feelings toward you. you are the light of my life. you keep me going. I'm a much better person with you than I am without you. I love you to the end of the world and back. You are my soul mate and the one person I want to spend the rest of my life with. I simply love you. good night. ~ R."
Happy with what I had written I sent the text, sighed happily, and then went to spend time with my friends.

Becky had fallen asleep near the end of the movie. She was nuzzled next me. My arms were wrapped around her protectively. I made a promise to her.
"I'm always going to be here for you, my friend. You don't have to worry about anything. you got me and you got Puck! I love you," I whispered and kissed her forehead.
Then I heard my phone chime so I maneuvered myself to grab it from her nightstand. I unlocked it and read it.
The words from the love of my life deeply touched my heart. It was at that moment that I knew that she was it for me. She was everything I needed then and everything I would need in the future.
Not really knowing what to say in return, I hit the reply button.
"I can't wait to be 'Mrs. Santana Berry-Lopez'. Rachel, you've changed me for the absolute better. You singlehandedly changed my heart and my life all by being you – the most amazing woman there is. I am beyond lucky to not just know you, but to love you and to be marrying you tomorrow. I love you dearly. See you tomorrow, S."
I immediately hit the send button. Then I turned off my phone and fell asleep with one of my best friends still in my arms.
Second Author's Note: I don't speak Spanish, so I got a sentence from Google Translate. "Santana, no jodas!" means "Santana, don't fuck it up!" in English.
And now for my apology. I am truly sorry that this took me so long to write. I was having girl problems which aren't totally resolved, but for right now the situation is the best that it could be. Let's just say that I don't have the girl even though I want her with everything I have! I needed to be in a happier mood to write this story so I am truly sorry that it took me this long to update. Think of it as a Christmas miracle!
To those who observe this Holiday, I'd like to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas. I'm hoping that you'll hear from me again before New Year's. Well that's the plan anyway.
Thank you for reading and I sincerely hope that I haven't lost you guys. I know there are many, many, many other stories out there so I am glad and humbled that you've chosen mine. Thank you!
