Chapter 7

Ryo.

Ryo...was..

Ryo..he..was..

Ryo was kissing me.

And I was not just imagining it.

And I was pretty sure it was not a dream...

My eyes widened with realization as it finally sunk in...

Ryo was kissing me.

And it felt amazing.

My eyes remained open as I stared into his eyes...Eyes that darkened with emotions and feelings,to which I had inkling that I was the only one who could stir them...And that thought elated me.

Despite the numerous scenarios I had pictured where Ryo would have kissed me,this was most definitely not one of them...

What kind of woman would even have suspected that when the love of her life would finally kiss her ,she would be body-controlled by the man who she hated with all her heart and that man would have just announced that she would be marrying him...

And the worst of it all ..as he kissed you ,no matter how much you tried,you could not kiss back.

Like I said its kinda hard to have seen this coming...

And,it sucked.

Definitely

But then again...may be not.

I could feel his lips on mine as he kissed me deeply...his hands as they cupped my face...

And my world tilted as he lifted me up...

I did not regret it ...not a single bit...even if I was not kissing him back.

I felt blessed.

To finally have Ryo return my feelings...a kiss no less...was eternal bliss to me at that moment.

I could have died in his arms right now and I would have with no qualms or regret what so ever.

I wish it would last forever...

Alas,like all good things the kiss ended all too soon for me...

Ryo lurched us forward as a gunshot was heard...

As Ryo dragged me to the floor behind the couch , a train of gunshots echoed inside the apartment,his gun already drawn ready to shoot...

"Kaori,stay.",Ryo said in a monotone,before moving to the other side of the room.

Without a hint of emotions that he had just shown not too long ago.

I could not help but feel a twinge of sadness at his tone...

Of course it was wrong of me to expect Ryo to get lovey-dovey with me so soon...but we did kiss after all ...and I would not have minded a little...just a little lovey-dovey-ness.

I would have laughed at my silly girliness if it were not for the given circumstances...

I could hear the sounds of gunshots that ensued,that kept on increasing..

But my body refused to move..

All I could do was be sprawled on the ground...rather uncomfortably...and pray for Ryo's safety.

The sound of gun shots seemed to echo on forever..I could not even guess who was winning...

But my gut told me no one was a match for the great City Hunter...my Saeba Ryo...

If any thing Ryo was going to kick Lei Akumu's bottom all over again...like he did all those years ago...

I still remembered it as clear as yesterday...

Funny how hard it was for me to forget that particular day all these years and how it all just came back in a matter of seconds...

I was in high school.

My brother had been alive.

I was at that phase of life where every thing in life was just happiness and laughter.

And the biggest problem I had ever faced was my maths homework...

And how all that changed just as easily...

Maiko Genko had been my best friend back then...We still would have been,if it werent for that day...

My brother Hideyuki Makimura and his pervert of a friend,Ryo Saeba had come over to spend the day with me...I was joyous for the time I would be spending with my ever busy detective of a brother.

I was also..secretly happy that Ryo,my first crush I ever had also had come.

But,I was not going to tell him that.

I still despised him...I hated that pervert.

He was so full of himself...Even back then.

I remember leaving for the market to buy groceries so that I could a cook a proper home cooked meal for my brother..and his idiotic friend.

As,I exited the store I noticed Maiko running away from a guy in the distance...

I rushed forward thinking that she was having a stalker situation...if only I had known.

"Maiko-chan!",I yelled as I grabbed her hand and pushed us through the empty park towards the bridge...

"Follow me",I whispered as I led her under the bridge.

We panted heavily as we tried to regain our breathing...it was then I noticed the cuts on Maiko's face and arms...fresh wounds..and she looked paler than a ghost...

"Oh my god Maiko-chan!What happened to your face and arms?Who did this?",I asked in horror as I abandoned my grocery bags and inspected the cuts..."Was it that Stalker?!".

Maiko nodded ruefully.

Anger rose within me...How dare he do that to sweet Maiko!..Maiko who could not harm a bug if her life depended on it!

"I will have my aniki teach him a proper lesson!",I assured her as she silently sobbed in my embrace...

"He started following me out of no where...he..he...tried to touch me...I ran...but he kept catching up..and...and ...and...he cut me!",Maiko said tearfully...poor girl could have been in hell just as well.

"Shhh..its alright now...every thing is-..."

"Just great!",a sinister voice said out of no where and then I blanked out as a firm hand placed a cloth over my mouth.

I dont know how long I was unconscious for...but when I opened my eyes I wished I had remained unconscious.

In front of me stood Lei Akumu..the notorious gang leader with his disgusting red-dyed hair and piercings on his face that made want to throw up on him...and his eyes..they were so sinister and cold that I started shivering involuntarily as I felt his eyes on me...

I tried to move but my legs were bound...so were my hands to the chair I was currently sitting on...

Maiko was next to me...still unconscious and bound in a similar state.

Why were we here?What was happening?

Why would the richest gang leader of Tokyo kidnap a couple of high school girls...I was just as scared to know the answers.

He just stood there leaning against the white walls of the empty room we were in and kept smiling to himself as he watched me and Maiko...like there was a joke that he could not wait to tell us...

I heard Maiko mutter next to me as I glared at him menacingly...

She opened her eyes slowly and instantly a look of pure terror and horror crossed her features as the predicament we were in dawned upon her...

I tried very hard not to reflect the same...
