Hey guys well this is the new and improved chapter two.

Songs used Can You Feel It by Ross Lynch. I don't own the song or anything but the OCs and plot. Everything else belongs to Disney.

Summer of Love and Loss

Chapter Two: Performances and Partnerships

Austin was surprised to see Ally, he honestly thought she was going to stay home and read a book. She looked like the type of person that would rather stay inside reading instead of going out an enjoying the sun. He pushed his way through the crowd hoping to catch up with her before he had to take the stage.

"You came." He said in her ear causing her to jump and squeal.

"Yeah, I wasn't in the mood for dinner with my mom." She said loudly. "Did I miss your performance?"

"No we're pretty close to the end of the lineup." He answered.

"Good." She said. Reaching into her bag she pulled out an old brown book. "Listen I to thank you for what you did earlier."

"Uh thanks but I don't read." Austin said.

"What? Oh no I'm not giving you the book, what I'm giving you is inside the book." She laughed. Austin reached for the book only to have Ally pull it out of his reach. "Never touch my book."

"My bad." Austin said reaching for the book again now that she was focused on flipping through its pages.

"Don't touch my book." Ally said turning away from him. "Ah here it is."

He peeked over her shoulder to see what she had found. Her writing was pretty like she went to a special camp where they taught her calligraphy. Surely camps like that didn't exist. He focused on what the words on the page said instead of how they looked, it was a song called Can You Feel It.

"What do you think?" She asked sounding nervous.

"You write songs?" Austin exclaimed. She nodded. "I can play a lot of instruments but I can't write songs."

"I have terrible stage fright, its actually evolved into a phobia of being the center of attention." Ally said. That explained why she practically had a panic attack at the ice cream shop. "So what do you think of the song?"

"I think we need to find my band and practice a little more before we go on stage." He said taking her by the wrist.

There wasn't time for introductions and Ally didn't mind because for the first time ever one of her songs was going to be played for a crowd of people. Austin talked to the head of the music festival and got him to switch the band's position in the show. Ally was impressed with Austin's band, they were able to play the song perfectly so soon after getting it.

"We're up next." Austin said sitting down next to Ally.

"I'm nervous." She said bringing a strand of her hair into her mouth.

"What are you doing?" Austin asked arching an eyebrow.

"When I get nervous I chew on my hair." Ally said through a mouthful of hair.

Austin reached over and gently took her hair out of her mouth. "Lets not do that, you have no reason to be nervous. I'm the one getting up in front of all of those people."

"Its my song, what if its no good?"

"Your song is amazing."

"Austin that's our cue let's go." Kelsey said walking past them and onto the stage.

Austin watched Kelsey take a seat behind the drums. He stood up and followed Troy and Zack on stage. Winking at Ally he took the mic and said, "Good evening Grover Beach! For those of you who don't know who we are I'm Austin Moon, joining me on guitar is Troy Jensen, Zack Olivera's over there on bass, and Kelsey Creek's behind the drums. We're the band that can't agree on a name and for the first time ever we'll be playing an original song written by my new friend Ally Dawson."

"Oh-Oh, Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh

Oh-Oh, Oh-Oh-Oh-Oh

I know it's on when I can't stop myself

From watching you mo-o-o-ove (mo-o-o-ove)

It's automatic gotta have it 'cause you got that

Boom-Da-Boom-Boom (boom-da-boom-boom)

When the lights come up it's hard to hold back

So come on let it blow

Can you feel it, coming down-down-down?

Can you feel it, coming down-down-down?

Move it faster, stronger, harder

Move it faster, stronger, harder

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it feel it feel it?"

Ally peeked out at the crowd and was surprised to see them dancing and jumping around. Her song was a big hit with them. Austin was a natural born performer, he effectively got the crowd pumped up and looked so at home dancing and singing on stage.

"It's so electric I'm infected

I just can't hi-i-i-ide (hi-i-i-ide)

The way my heart is jumping

For you beating double ti-i-i-ime (ti-i-i-ime)

When the lights come up it's hard to hold back

So come on let it blow

Can you feel it, coming down-down-down?

Can you feel it, coming down-down-down?

Move it faster, stronger, harder

Move it faster, stronger, harder

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it feel it feel it?"

Austin looked over at Ally and smiled into the mic. She was dancing with Dez while at the same time avoiding his camera. Ally had a talent for writing songs, not so much for dancing, and it was a shame that she was so afraid of the stage. She had stage fright and he couldn't write they'd benefit from a partnership with each other.

"Hey-Hey, put your hands up and get it rocking

Hey-Hey, show the whole world we're never stopping

Hey-Hey, put your hands up we're lighting up the sky

Tonight, Tonight!

When the lights come up it's hard to hold back

So come on let it blow

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it feel it feel it?

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up

Can you feel it? Turn it up-up-up, can you feel it?"

Ally could have hugged Austin's red headed friend but she didn't. The crowd loved her song. Austin and his band performed a couple of Bruno Mars, Maroon 5, and Imagine Dragons songs to close the show. After proper introductions Austin invited Ally to hang out with him and his friends on the beach. Not really wanting to go home she followed them to a secluded cove. There was already a group of people gathered around an orange fire. An obviously drunk blond haired girl staggered toward Austin, she clumsily threw her arms around him and kissed him sloppily. Ally dropped her gaze to her feet and shifted uncomfortably on the balls of her feet, she didn't do well in groups especially when she didn't know anyone well enough.

Austin disappeared with the blonde haired girl and Ally didn't know what to do, she couldn't even remember why she had accepted Austin's invitation to join him and his friends. Zack and Troy seemed to be too busy with the girls on their laps to notice her and Austin was off doing who knows what with that obviously older girl. Over by the fire Dez was animatedly talking to Kelsey who was laughing. Ally slowly made her way over to them.

"Can I join you?" She asked biting her bottom lip.

"Yeah." Dez said gesturing for her to take a seat beside Kelsey. Loudly he said, "We welcome all who are disgusted by the sight of people sucking face."

"More like having sex with clothes on." Kelsey said with a roll of her blue eyes.

Ally pretended like Kelsey's comment didn't bother her, instead she laughed with Dez. The red head kept the two of them laughing and Ally found herself liking him and Kelsey. She found that with the two of them she could easily be her normal dorky self. When Kelsey did an impersonation of Austin, Ally laughed so hard that she snorted, her eyes widened for a second before she laughed along with Dez and Kelsey.

"You Ally Dawson are one dorky girl." Dez said pointing his camera at her. Ally hid herself behind Kelsey and only peeked out when Dez had put the camera away. "Why are you so camera shy?"

"I have terrible stage fright." Ally sighed returning to her seat beside Kelsey.

"Oh why?" Dez asked.

"Its a long story." Ally said looking down at her hands.

"Which translates to she doesn't want to talk about it." Kelsey said.

"I should go it's getting late." Ally said with a glance at her phone. She didn't want to have a fight with her mother especially about something as petty as her curfew.

"We usually meet at eleven at Ol' Guppy's Boathouse." Kelsey said. "Meet us there tomorrow if you want to hang out."

"Okay." Ally said with a smile.

"Later Ally-gator." Dez said with a laugh.

Austin finally managed to untangle himself from Candace only to find that Ally had left. Without the sound of Ally's laughter he found that the cove suddenly felt very empty. He buttoned his shirt and grabbed his jacket, he thought about telling everyone he was heading home but they were all to wasted to care. He spotted Ally's petite figure not to far down the beach and found that his feet were carrying him in her direction. Thanks to his long strides and the fact that he was practically jogging he caught up to her in no time at all.

"Hey there Ally-cat." He said laughing when she jumped. "You seem to be a very jumpy person."

Ally bit her lip and Austin couldn't help but think that she looked kind of cute when she did that. She shook her head at him and continued her walk down the beach. He followed her falling in step beside her, it stung that she had walked away from him.

"Did I do something to piss you off?" He asked for the second time that day.

"You invited me to hang out with you and all you did was suck face with that girl." Ally answered stopping only to glare at him.

"Why does it bother you so much?" Austin asked smirking at her.

"You left me to fend for myself in a group of people I didn't know. I don't do well in groups." She said starting down the beach again.

"Ally," He sighed taking her wrist and pulling her to a stop. "I'm sorry."

His eyes had her, she couldn't hate him for ditching her for his not girlfriend when he was looking at her with puppy dog eyes. She nodded thinking that under Austin's bad boy exterior he was just a big softie. He sat down on the sand pulling her down with him.

"Tell me all of the random things that make you Ally Dawson." He said falling back onto the sand.

"My favorite food is pickles."

"What a coincidence—" Austin started.

"You love pickles too!" Ally said excitedly.

"Uh no but my favorite food starts the letter 'p' too." Austin said with a laugh that sent shivers down Ally's spine.

"Oh." Ally said disappointedly, she had never met anybody who loved pickles as much as she did. "What is it?"

"Pancakes."

"Well I have a bird named Owen and I named a goose Pickles, he used to inspire me."

"Inspire you to do what? Heard geese like Little Bo Peep."

"She herded sheep and no he was my inspiration when I couldn't come up with lyrics." Ally said thinking back to the days when she'd sit with Pickles and write lyric after lyric.

"I can't write songs and you can but you can't perform and I can. How about we become partners? That way I don't have to sing covers anymore and your songs can be heard." Austin said seriously.

"Partners? You and me?" Ally asked. Austin nodded eagerly and Ally saw no harm in writing songs for him. "Deal."

"Awesome!"

They sat there talking about the random things that made them who they were for a long time. Just as Ally had found it easy to talk to Dez and Kelsey she found it easy if not easier to talk to Austin. She could see why Austin was the town's bad boy but she could also see a nice goofy teenager.

"So you're a baby." Austin said when she told him her birthday. "You'll be sixteen when you start your senior year."

"Better a baby then an old hag." Ally laughed sticking her tongue out at him and running down the beach.

"Or you are in for it Dawson." He said chasing after her. "I am not old or a hag. I am young and devastatingly handsome."

"Don't forget modest." Ally laughed running up the steps of her back porch. "Well this is my stop, I hope, I guess I'll see you tomorrow at Ol' Guppy's."

"Goodnight Ally."

"Goodnight Austin."

Ally watched him walk down the beach and as she did she couldn't help but think that maybe surviving the summer wasn't going to be as difficult as she originally thought.
