AN: YAY! Three out of three! Well... actually... Since this chapter is REALLY short, I'm going to consider this to be 2 1/2 out of 3. You know what that means? IT MEANS YOU ALL GET ONE MORE CHAPTER! WOOOOOO! So yeah, this chapter is REALLY short. But I'm already working on chapter 5. You all won't be without an update for long! I've got my Rainbow Goldfish, my Chips Ahoy Cookies, and my Frozen Movie Soundtrack. I'm all ready to stay at my computer until I've gotten a nice long chapter written and published for you all. So enjoy this short little chapter and wait for chapter 5 to be published later tonight.

Chapter 4

"You're sure about this one?" Ella asked me as she slid the final pin in my hair.

"Positive," I answered, wincing slightly at the tight pressure on my head. It never gets any easier, I thought. Ella had put my hair up this same way many times, but I still wasn't accustomed to the skull-squeezing style.

"Really," She said, doubtful as always. "Because I seem to remember you being positive about Lindsay, too- yet she ended up trying to sleep with Eros by the end of the first month."

"Yes, but-" I tried to justify my previously misplaced optimism, but Ella seemed intent to shoot me down.

"Then there was Delilah, who favored slacking off over studying," Ella continued. "Oh, and how could we forget Jillian and her 'special friends'?" She said, referring to the girl who was discovered to be insane- she would sometimes strike up conversations with people who weren't there. "Then there was Lucy, Maria, Tavia, Valerie, Samantha, Brittany, Roxie, Hope, Courtney, Emily, and Marcella. That's more than a dozen girls in two years, with only four of them lasting more than a month. Even Henry's search for a new Persephone didn't involve that many girls, and he had one hundred years to do it."

I sighed. "I know, I know. There've been a lot of girls. But I've got a good feeling about this one. Eros has been watching them for quite some time now. He seems confident about this one, Ella."

"Like he was confident about the other girls?" Ella asked sarcastically. At my irritated glare, she raised her hands in surrender. "You know I'm right," She said defensively.

"He's trying, Ella. That's all we can do." I said.

"If you say so," Ella said. "So what's this new one's name?" She asked.

"Umm… I don't know." I admitted sheepishly.

"What do you mean 'you don't know'?" Ella demanded.

"Eros said that this one was different than the rest. He said that it was going to be a surprise." I said.

Ella groaned. "Oh, that sounds fun." She said.

The chime rang throughout the manor, signaling that Eros was pulling into the driveway. "I'd better go down. I'll see you tomorrow morning, Ella." I said, waving goodbye before crossing to my bedroom door. I exited my room and headed towards the front doors.

I held onto the front door handles and said a silent plea. Please, please, please… let this be the one. I thought. Taking a deep breath, I opened the doors to see Eros standing on the stoop, talking to the selected gir-

I stopped and stared.

It wasn't a girl.

Eros turned and saw me standing in the doorway. "Hello, Kate," he greeted rather bashfully. "I'd like you to meet Lucas."
