Chapter 19

Clary felt her heart sink into her stomach. Simon she thought. Why Simon? Jace walked over to Clary. Rubbing her back to comfort her.

"Clary, maybe you should sit down." He suggested.

She nodded her head. Then Jace lead her to the couch. Clary sat down putting her head in her hands. Jace sat next to her rubbing her back.

"How could this happen?" Clary asked in a sob.

"No one really knows exactly. There was so much chaos Camille must have grabbed him during the attack." Adam said.

"Isabelle is missing too." Harold blurted out.

Jace jumped. The back of his neck prickled. Isabelle missing. He thought even though she annoyed most of the time she was still his sister.

"How?" He asked looking at Harold in disbelief.

"Stephan thinks she might have gone after Camille."

Jace shook his head. "Isabelle is so stupid."

"Maybe," Adam replied, "she could of gone after her because of Simon."

"Why would she go after her for Simon?" Clary asked curiously.

"Isn't it obvious. Isabelle fancies him." Jace said.

Clary thought for a moment. Jace was right Isabelle did fancy Simon. All the pet names, the way she clung to him. It was clear she really cared for him. But why would she risk her life when Isabelle knew Camille was dangerous.

"Well then we should help her rescue Simon." Clary said standing up from the couch.

"No Clary, we need to find the dragons heart before Camille does. The order will take care of Simon's rescue." Adam stated.

"But Simon is my friend."

"I know his is your friend. Time is running out. If you fail then time will be lost forever."

Forever? Clary thought. Adam was right time was running out. The dragon's heart had to be found in order to defeat Camille once and for all. Her pounded in heart chest. Magnus' voice ran through Clary's head "The prophecy must be fulfilled or time as we know it will cease to exist. " That would mean she would never exist if Camille succeeds.

"Then we must hurry." She said. "For Simon, my mother, Luke and everyone we care about."

And with that they all set out to find the stone.

Simon awoke to find himself in a cell. Unconsciousness was trying desperately to calm him. He heard a familiar voice call his name. He tried to open his eyes to see who it was. His eyes were heavy.

"Clary, is that you?" He said hoarsely.

"No, Simon. It's me Isabelle."

"Isabelle. You shouldn't be here."

"I've come to rescue you."

Just then a figure appeared. It startled Isabelle. The figure standing before her was Ragnor Fell. Her pounded in her chest as she drew her saber.

"Relax." He told her.

"What are you doing here?"

"Helping you. I doubt you could get him out of here by yourself." Isabelle's breathing was heavy.

"Isabelle you have to get out of here."

"Not with out you, Simon."

"Why do care whether I live or not?"

"Because I love you Simon."

Simon was shocked to hear those words. No girl ever said anything like that to him. He didn't know what to say instead kiss grabbed Isabelle's face and kissed her hard. He felt an Adeline rush through his body. Simon wanted to take her right then but that thought quickly disappeared when he knew the first thing he had to do was get out of here.

Isabelle walked in the study with Simon trailing behind her. Her father turned toward her his nostrils flaring with anger.

"Isabelle Charlotte Lightwood, where gods name have you been?" He scolded. "Your mother and I have been worried sick about you."

"I went to rescue Simon." She replied just as her mother Maryse stormed in the room.

"Isabelle."

"Mom."

"Oh, Thank heavens your all right." Maryse said hugging her daughter. "We were worried. We thought something terrible happened to you."

"I'm fine mom really." Isabelle assured her mother. "I rescued Simon." Pointing in Simon's direction.

"Where's Wayland?" Luke said seeing the state Simon was in.

Sebastian sat up from his seat. Wincing he replied. "I think he is still with Magnus. I'll take Simon to him."

"Thank you Sebastian." Luke said.

"I'll help you." Jonathan rose to help his brother.

They both walked Simon out to the door. Isabelle turned back to her parents. She knew she wasn't out of the water for running of by the look her father was giving her. She swallowed hard.

"Oh boy, I'm in trouble."

Clary looked at the pages where the instructions of how to find the stone. On one page there was a map. On the other was a poem of sorts.

To find the stone you,

must find the tower of time.

In the face is a key,

remember these words,

First at 3, Time chimes one

Then at 6, time chimes two

9 comes third, time himes three

with 12 at last time chimes four.

Then ring the hour the door will open.

It all seemed confusing. She looked at the map again. It pointed to her old house where she lived before that night the attack. Her was only just beginning. With Jace by her side she felt nothing could stop her now. Not even Camille and her goons.
