Chapter Eight
"Why are we in here again?" David asked as he stood in Daphne's room. He sat on the floor cross legged. A sigh escape his lips.
"I cannot fight in your mother's clothes. It will get ruined!" She replied from the bathroom door.
The dark haired young man rolled his brown eyes. "She won't care. It has been through a lot. Trust me on that. Isn't finding your parents more important?"
"They are but your mother's dress is too long for me. I won't last long if we fight," she said as she entered the room. She was very thankful that she had a bathroom attached to her room. It made life so much easier. "Stop flying around you stupid dress!"
David snorted when he heard her exclamation. He shook his head. A smile crept on her face. He loved her so much! He would never admit that to her though. He was scared that she would not feel the same way. Why would she? If she knew who he really was, she would want to kill him.
After a few minutes, Daphne stepped out of the bathroom. "How do I look?" She questioned.
His eyes widened when he saw her. She was wearing a beautiful long, light blue dress with long sleeves. "Y-y-you look beautiful," he told her as he got off the floor. He smiled at her. She blushed.
They both stepped forward to each other. She looked up at him and he looked down at her. He started to bend down when suddenly a loud noise from outside of the room caused them to jump away from each other.
The doors to the room burst opened. Madame Morrible stood in the doorway and she did not look happy.
David and Daphne gave each other a worriedly glance. What were they going to do? She was a very powerful witch.
Guards started to come into the room. Each one had a trance like look on their faces. It almost seemed as if they had no idea of what they were doing or what was going on.
David balled his fists. Daphne did the same. They both sent Morrible a glare.
"Where is the Grimmerie?" Madame Morrible questioned. Lightning began to from in her hands.
As soon as she heard her voice, Daphne burst out laughing.
Everyone in the room gave her a strange look.
The blonde haired girl just continued to laugh. A few more seconds passed, and she finally stopped laughing. "I am sorry," she said. Mom was not kidding! She DOES sound and looks like an ugly fish! She thought.
Madam Morrible glared at her. Apparently, Daphne had accidentally voiced her thought aloud.
David immediately pushed Daphne behind him. He had a bad feeling that something bad was about to happen. His eyes widened when he noticed the older witch moving her lips. No words were coming out of her mouth. He gulped. He was familiar enough with magic to know that the magic that was being performed was more than likely a very dangerous spell.
He squeezed Daphne's hand. Pain shot throughout his entire body. Immediately, he dropped her hand. He turned sideways. His eyes were on both the evil witch and his best friend. He wanted to move but he could not.
A look of horror crossed his face as he saw what was happening. He had read about this spell once, and knew how terrible it could be on the person it was casted on. "Daphne, RUN! NOW!"
The girl looked at him confused. Her body began to shake. She felt so cold. She wanted to move, but she felt like she was frozen in place. The next thing she knew was that David was picking her up. Morrible and the guards were chasing them.
The doors to the balcony opened. The railing prevented them from going any further. David did the thing he never wanted to do. He threw Daphne off of the balcony. He was about to enchanted himself be able to fly, but the guards grabbed him before he had a chance to do anything.
His brown eyes met Morrible. He sent her a glare. A sudden pain shot through his head. The last thing he heard before he blacked out was Daphne calling his name.
Daphne tried her best to fly to face the guards, but she was so cold she found it difficult to move. Every move she made felt like she was being stabbed by needles. The only thing that she was able to do was go forward. She was so thankful that her dress had been enchanted to fly.
After a few hours of flying, she noticed a castle that was on the horizon. It was Kiamo Ko! She grinned. She knew she would be safe there! It was where David had told her to go, and she had to admit that it was the perfect place for her to hide at. People were scared of the castle.
She landed on the ground and opened the door. No one was inside. She let out a deep breath. She made her way up the stairs. She opened another door. It was a library filled with books.
A wooden podium was in the middle of the room. A crystal ball was not too far away from it.
She took her boots off. She held her left shoe and turned it upside down. The Grimmerie fell out of it.
The blonde haired said the incantation to make it bigger. It stayed the same size. Daphne glared at the book. She tried the spell again. Nothing happened.
"What are you doing here?" A female voice asked behind her.
Daphne jumped. She turned around. Her green eyes widened when she saw who it was. The Wicked Witch of the West was in Kiamo Ko, and she was very much alive.
Daphne glared at the witch. She let out a yell then she tackled the Wicked Witch of the West like a football player to the ground.
