Chapter Ten
Daphne blinked as she opened her eyes. A gently fall of snow was around her. She moaned slightly. She was still tired. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"I am glad to see that you are awake," a female voice said.
The blonde's eyes widened. She apparently was still in the Wicked Witch's castle. She wanted to move, but she could not. She was too cold. She let out a frustrated sigh. At least she was on a comfortable bed instead of a prison. She glanced over and saw the green woman sitting in a chair. The man that had grabbed her earlier was beside her.
"What do you want?" She muttered.
"I want to know why you came here, and attacked me," Elphaba replied.
"Go easy on her, Fae," the man said.
Elphaba gave him a look of disbelief. She took a deep breath inward. "She broke into our home and attacked us! She also had the Grimmerie!" She told him as she held up the book. "Do not tell me to calm down, Fiyero Tigular!"
"Elphaba, it is go-"
Daphne let out a gasp. "Do you two know Glinda the Good?" She asked quickly.
The married couple stared at the young woman. "Yes," they answered at the same time.
Daphne gulped. A blush appeared on her face. I cannot believe that I attacked my mother's best friends from college! They are supposed to be dead! She thought. Her body started to shake. The cold feeling was back. She tried to speak to them, but her teeth started to chatter.
A concerned look came over Elphaba's face. The blonde haired woman did not well. She took off her black cloak and put it on her.
"T-t-th-thanks," she told her slowly. "I a-a-am s-s-s-so-sorry for attacking you."
The green witch motioned for her to be quiet as she got up from her chair. She touched Daphne's forehead. "Yero, can you get me more blankets? She is freezing."
Fiyero left the room to do as his wife had asked. She sat back down on her chair. "Are you sure that you are all right?"
Daphne nodded. "C-c-can you give me the Grimmerie? I need it t-to help someone."
"No, I already used it. David is safe," was the reply.
Daphne wanted to ask her how she knew about David, but it was getting harder for her to speak. She just smiled and nodded gratefully.
Fiyero came back a few moments later. His arms were full of blankets.
Elphaba got up to help him. They started to put the blankets on the girl on the bed. They smiled as they noticed Daphne was no longer shaking.
"Thank you. I feel much better now," she told them. "How do you know Glinda?"
The man and the green witch looked at each other. They both nodded. "We were friends in college," they replied at the same time.
"I am sorry for attacking the two of you. I had no idea that two of you were mom's best friends. She still talks about you, but she is always sad when she does. I was scared. I thought the two of you were evil. That is what I have heard from ev-"
Elphaba placed a finger on the girl's mouth. She turned to her husband. "I told you she was her daughter. She looks exactly like her, and she talks too much too," she said with a grin.
Daphne blushed at the explanation of her talking a lot. "I need your help. David said for me to come here. My parents and David have been captured by Morrible. I think the Animals that joined me have been captured too."
An angry look came on Elphaba's face when she heard Morrible's name mentioned. Fiyero clinched his fist. That woman was determined to make that life miserable.
"I am in," Fiyero said with a nod.
"Me too but before we do anything, I need to know why you keep shooting snow and ice out of your hands," Elphaba told Daphne.
The blond haired girl shrugged. "I don't know. I just remember calling Morrible a fish lady. She just looked at me and I felt cold."
At her explanation, the green witch gave the girl a sympathetic look. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She gave her hug. She was hoping that that was not going to be the explanation. How was she supposed to explain to her best friend's daughter that Morrible had place spell on her that would slowly kill her and anyone in her path?
AN: Hey, Sorry it took so long to update. I have been at a writer's block. If anyone has any ideas to help let me know. It would be a big help.
