Chapter Eleven

David bit his lip as the whip went across his back. He winced. That was the fifth lashing he had received since he had been captured. He sent Morrible a glare. He would not give the woman the satisfaction to hear him scream.

Morrible let out an aggravated sigh. Torture was not getting through to the boy. She needed to break him somehow. She had to know where the girl was. She had to get the Grimmerie! She needed that book! She would not be able to rule Oz without it.

Elphaba helped Daphne get out of the bed. The poor girl could hardly move because she was so cold. A sympathetic look crossed the green witch's face. She wished she knew a spell that could break the curse. Sadly, she knew there was no cure. The most that she could do was to cast a spell that would make her feel warm. The spell would take a little bit before it worked, because of all the coldness it had to go through; but it would work.

Glinda stood up when she heard the cell door open. Pain filled her body from the movement. She let it a deep breath.

A male figure was thrown inside with her.

The blonde hair woman stood in a fighting stance. This man was not her husband. He called her name, but it sounded more like a question.

She gave him a small nod.

"I am glad I found you. Daphne would be pleased."

"You know my daughter?"

"Yes, mam, I am David."

When he said his name, Glinda grinned. She recognized the name. Her daughter often spoke of him with great fondness. Her smile turned into a frown when she noticed cuts on his wrist. She looked down at her own. There were scars on them. She closed her eyes as she remembered what happened.

Glinda smiled to the citizens of OZ from the balcony of the Emerald Palace. She had just made a great speech about the Wicked Witch of West and what a relief it was to finally be safe from such evilness. The lies that she was telling was making her sick. She turned and quickly went into her room when she was done. She sat on the ground, bent her knees, and took a deep breath. Tears fell down her eyes.

Oh, how she missed Elphaba and Fiyero! She wished that there was a way for her to see them again, but there was no way unless she died. She paused at the thought. She had often thought of killing herself since her friend's and ex-fiancé's death. The more she thought about it. The more appealing the thought became.

She stood up and went to her dresser. She opened it up and took out a knife. She took it and started to cut her wrist. Slowly at first, then she did it faster and cut deeper.

Dizziness overcame her. Blood poured out of her wrist. She did not even feel it. Darkness came into her line of vision. She fell to the ground. Light clouded her vision suddenly. She let out a smile. She was finally going to be reunited with Elphie and Fiyero!

She felt a pair of strong arms grab her and lift her. She thought that it must have been an angel. Her grinned widened and that was when she passed out.

Glinda shook her head from her thoughts. It was actually William that had carried her. He had taken her to the hospital, and that was what began their friendship. He had helped her a lot during that dark time. She was about to talk to the young man that was with her, when suddenly his appearance started to change. His skin began to change into straw.
