Once I was left alone I was left to find where the boiler room was. As soon as I found the stairs I started down the stairs as slowly as I could afraid of falling. I could hear the train whistling and I remembered when I left on it to see Zeniba with No face, Boh and yu-bird. Kamaji had given me tickets to go and see her when Haku needed help along with the others. I smiled remembering Lin and Kamaji but those thoughts quickly disappeared as a board broke beneath me. I ran down the stairs as fast as I could out of control, screaming the whole way down.
As I neared the bottom I saw the wall I ran into last time and I knew I would hit it again. I ran over the last step and did exactly what I did last time. This time ending with a sickening splat.
"Ow." I muttered stumbling back rubbing my face.
I remembered the window and I froze. I turned around and looked but there was no one there. I walked over to the rest of the stairs and hopped across them. I saw the door to the boiler room and I opened the door.
The soot smell rose to my nose. I sighed remembering it well. I could see the little soot balls working and I walked in. There was a bunch of drawers on the wall that contained herbs that Kamaji used for the baths. Kamaji was sitting in his normal spot. The wheel on the side of it and him mashing his herbs together. His mustache is still as crazy as it always has been and his eyes were hidden behind his glasses. His six arms reaching over and opening the slots for the herbs.
"What do you want?" Kamaji snapped at me not looking up at me.
"Haku sent me here yet again." I said a smiling crawling onto my face.
Kamaji looked up at me and froze.
"I thought we sent you away." He said surprised.
"Oh you did but I came back." I told him and he stared at me.
"Kamaji what is all of this noise?" Lin asked walking in.
She stopped and stared at me. Lin was tall and lean. Her hair had grown more since I had seen her but she kept it the normal cut. Her brown eyes widen as she looked at me and her lips puckered together as she leaned towards me.
"Chihiro?" She muttered surprised.
I smiled and she walked over to me.
"Hey Lin." I said waving my hand at her.
"What are you doing back? I thought we told you not to?" She muttered as she hugged me which was weird for her.
"I... had too." I told her looking down my smile turning into a frown.
"What's going on Chihiro?" She asked me.
"Lin you killing the poor girl give her some room." Kamaji said still working but I could hear the interest in his voice.
Lin backed off and I stared at the ground.
"...I've been having these dreams where Haku dies. I don't know what to do... Haku is mad that I came back... I tried to explain to him but he still thinks I'm being foolish." I told them shifting my weight to one foot to the other.
The soot balls stopped working and were looking at me.
"I think I'm going to step out for some air Kamaji, Lin." I said quickly trying to look happy.
I turned to go and walk to the door but Kamaji's voice stopped me.
"Chihiro are you alright?" He asked me and I forced a smile on my face.
I turned to him and held the tears back.
"Oh course. Life isn't fair. I know it isn't." I told him and then I walked to the door and out it.
It closed behind me and I walked over to the edge of the platform. I sat down my feet dangling in the air.
After a moment the tears started down my face and I buried my face into my hands.
Authors Note!
I remember when I was writing this I would listen to a certain song. Only that song. Don't ask why because honestly I don't remember. Maybe it was easier.
