"I can't believe…" murmured Milo, alongside with Camus entering Greece. They weren't in such a hurry; their speed was far below their best speed. They didn't have any reason to be so fast in returning to the Sanctuary because the first moment they would get there, it meant any of them could be sent for some stupid mission. "The Pope sent me to check something strange, but there was nothing important."
The Aquarius chuckled under his nose.
"But it is strange that he ordered you to check just some blind spot," he answered, thinking about their short visit in France. After they left the city he met Clair, they went to the place Pope ordered Milo to check. But there was anything they could notice. Of course they asked a few people about something strange, but no one could tell anything important.
"The Pope said that certain Saint felt strange, unfamiliar cosmo in that area when he was heading back to the Sanctuary too," added Milo, taking the long look at his lover.
He sighed. There was really nothing important in the place he had to check. Neither he nor Camus could feel that strange cosmo in their destination. No traces of the cosmo, nothing strange. The small town was having their usual day like always. So, maybe that Saint who reported this phenomenon was just hallucinating? And in fact there was nothing to be worried about?
"Maybe the Pope has some new information about it…" murmured Camus, getting faster a little. "Everything could be explained…"
"I hope. I don't like to have meaningless missions…" answered the Scorpio, accelerating as well. It wasn't making him happy, because they would be in the Sanctuary sooner than he wanted, but if Camus was interested in that strange mission, then there was no point of protesting. Besides, if they had lucky, today they will have the most sensitive night together…
A few minutes later they saw it; the sacred Hills where the twelve Temples were standing since the mythical ages. Every time Milo was returning to the Holy Land he was mesmerized by the magnificence of this sight. Only looking at the old building was making him to shiver from the excitement. He knew that with this place all of them had many painful emotions, they shed many tears here and really much blood; he knew it was the place he should hate, but in fact he loved it. It was the place where he met Camus for the first time, it was the place where found some kind of home. He could gain many friends here. And it was the place he died once for.
The Scorpio looked at his companion. It looked like Camus was feeling the same. His deep, blue eyes were stopped at the buildings in the front of them and Milo could swear he was smiling slightly.
Aquarius noticed his look.
"What?" he asked.
Milo shook his head.
"Nothing," he answered with the warm smile. "You seem to be happy of returning here, Camus."
"Really? Maybe because I feel like I'm home…" Camus murmured, again looking at the Sanctuary.
Milo chuckled. It was really rare for Camus to say something like that. He always seemed to treat Siberia as his home, not the hot Greece. He was always a little separated from others Saints, always walking his own paths. And now, hearing that the Sanctuary was for him like home… Milo felt really happy about that. As the child rose not to far away from here, he never had the difficulties of thinking about his home. For him it was natural of treating the Greece like that. But for Camus it could be different. Camus was raised in the cold Siberia; during his whole training as a Saint he never visited this land until he gained his Cloth. And yet he said something like that…
With the smiles on their faces they finally entered the Sanctuary, place where all Saints around the world could find their home.
"Why are you so surprised, Camus?" murmured Milo, when they were climbing the stairs linked with the Pope Chamber. "They all missed you."
The Aquarius shook his head. He still couldn't believe how warm most of the Saints welcomed him a few minutes ago. Mu even allowed himself to pat him on the back in the friendly gesture, looking at him really warmly and saying 'Welcome' with happy look inside his green eyes. Aldebaran almost crushed his bones, hugging him with the loud laugh, Kanon said something malignant as always, but even he seemed to be a little happy of his arrival. His twin, the most silent and separated form others Saint as well welcomed him warmly. Camus suspected that it was most because all of these things they two did to their companions while the Holy war. But fortunately not everyone was in the Sanctuary, because Camus was sure he wouldn't survive all these warm greetings, coming from his fellows. After dealing with Dohko, who had really stupid idea about welcoming him, when Camus stopped in the Libra Temple, nothing worse happened in their way to the Pope Shion.
"They missed you, Camus. You were absent for many weeks that turned into months already. You just disappeared after we were reviewed. We are big family, of course they are happy about seeing you again," added Milo with smile. "Well, most of them are happy," he murmured under his nose, remembering the long snort coming from DeathMask in the fourth Temple.
"But I can't understand it. We never were close; our bonds relied only on the same fate as the Gold Saints of Athena. Before the Holy War we were just the strangers for each other, even if we all are the Gold Saints. I bet you remember all these quarrels between us. The Aiolia's case as the traitor's brother, the strange missing of Saga, Mu disappeared in Jamir and refused to talk even with the Pope. Dohko was the same. You were obeying the orders of the fake Pope for many years, DeathMask, knowing that Saga killed the Pope, decided to follow him in order to be on the top, Aiolos were killed by Shura, who blindly was following orders from Saga. Aiolia was treated like a trash for many years; I'm really surprised he managed to survive mentally. I was mostly in the Siberia. All of us were more like enemies than unity, Milo. And being like that, most of us died. Knowing about each other less than nothing. And then we were reviewed. And you are telling me that they are happy about seeing me. Yes, I could believe in that, if you are talking about Mu or Aldebaran. But Aiolia could hate me; sometimes I was mean for him too. Kanon hated us all. Actually I was really surprised to see him there."
Milo sighed really deeply, stopping on the stairs and looking at his lover carefully and a little sad.
"Camus, you wouldn't understand most of these things. First you died form Hyoga's hand, then after our revival you left the Sanctuary for a long time. Many things happened and you weren't witnessing them. Aiolia has no grudge against us, he never had. Yes he hated us for a long time, but we turned his life into the hell, so I think he had the full right to do that. But when all these dirty secrets of Saga were revealed, it was easier for him to understand us. We felt horrible at the beginning to look into his face, I felt embarrassed. Deeply embarrassed. But during that time before the Holy War, when only five of us were in the Sanctuary, we created really strong bonds of friendship. We managed to do that, to understand each other, to like each other. Mu and Aiolia helped me pretty much back then."
Camus twitched strongly at that memory. Mu told him with every detail, how depressed Milo was after his death. Meanwhile Milo sat at the stairs, looking thoughtfully at the clear sky. The Aquarius took the place beside him.
"Don't think that for all this time before the Holy War we were fighting with each other. When Saga was gone, when the Saints always first to the quarrel, or to the false prosecutions disappeared, when we were under the protection of the real Goddess, everything here changed."
For a while he silenced. Camus felt a little embarrassed of himself. He never thought how it was after the battle over the Sanctuary. For him it was just like the short blink of the eye. He died and then he was the vassal of Hades. And now he didn't even bother himself of asking Milo about everything.
"And after our revival… It wasn't so simple, Camus. Do you think only you, Saga and Shura had the hard time with facing Lady Athena and Shaka? All of us had really hard time. Think about Kanon. Yes, I accepted him just before the Holy War, but even that, when we again faced each other, it was really difficult to trust him. Lady Athena allowed him to stay here, as the second Gemini, but most of us were against it. Even if he fought alongside us in the war with Hades, he was still the man who wanted to kill Athena years ago, and who was deceiving the God for such a long time. He had to work really hard to gain the trust of Aiolia, Mu, Shura or even me. The same with Saga. For the first time these two faced each other after so many years, I thought they would kill each other. For a long time they hated each other really deeply. I still don't know how they managed to apologize for all their crimes. I still don't know how it is possible none of them kill the second one."
Camus sighed. It was true; when they were passing by the Gemini Temple, he felt tension between them. It was like both of them were waiting for any move to break this fragile bond between them.
"Saga had to apologize to us too. For such a long time he was pretending to be the Pope, while the true one was killed by him. Not all of us trust him even now. I'm not sure if they would trust him even in million years. I suppose that even you don't trust him, even if both of you had such a painful part in the Holy War. And I'm talking not only about us, the Gold Saints. Many of Silver Saints and Bronze ones were against him and Kanon. Lady Athena had to use all her power to convince everybody that these two are loyal Warriors now. That we can rely on them, we can trust them, and we can find friend's bonds with two of them."
He silenced again for a long while. Right now Camus felt just like scolded kid. When all of them tried to settle everything between them, he escaped from here, firstly hiding in France and then in Siberia. While all these months actually, he didn't think about it even once. Even once he wasn't thinking about his fellows, who were trying their best here, in the hot land of Athena.
"Even if it was only a few weeks, we really tried to create some bonds between us. It wasn't too hard, we had Lady Athena and she helped us pretty much. We focused our attention on Aiolos and Saga. Think about it, Aiolos has the hardest time right now. He is alive again after so many years, as a teenager, the world changed; he had to face his executioner, the traitor of the whole Sanctuary and his younger brother who now is elder. Believe me; it was really hard to even talk with him for a few days. But we took care of him. And we tried of course to talk with Saga. We tried to start to trust him, to consider him as the equal like us. It was hard too. But Lady Athena helped us. Pope Shion helped us. Even Dohko helped us. We worked together, all of us, and now we trust each other, we care about each other. We have many bonds between us. Maybe for now they are not as strong as they could be, but still. And now, when you returned to the Sanctuary, they are treating you as friend too. Now it is some kind of natural for us, to act like that. Now we really can feel we are home, Camus."
The Aquarius looked thoughtfully at the clear sky of Greece. Home… Yes, he was considering this place as his home, even if most of years he spent in Siberia. But actually he didn't deserve to be treated like that. Like friend for everyone. Camus knew that even if he would be here all the time after their revival, nothing would be changed between him and the others Gold Saints. He wasn't the kind of a man who could have so many friends. Milo was enough for him; the others could be for him nothing more than fellows, brothers-in-arms. Yes, he would help with Aiolos, he would help Saga to redeem his crimes and gain the trust of the rest. In some way some bong could be created between him, Saga and Shura, all of them had the same, awful and really painful past as the vassals of Hades. They could understand each other more than anyone could do. But they wouldn't be friends. Milo suited this situation; the Scorpio was the kind of a man who could have plenty of friends. But he, the Aquarius Saint, with most of his emotions threw away from him, could never be the part of this family of friendship. Family of fellows- yes, but only that. Milo had the right, even when he heard it from his lover, he couldn't understand many things.
Camus sighed deeply.
"Let's go. We shouldn't force our Pope to wait for too long," he said quietly, standing up and starting to climb the stairs. He didn't know what to say to his friend, how to comment everything he heard. And how to tell Milo about his feelings towards the other Gold Saints.
Milo nodded and did the same. For a while he felt a little disappointed with Camus's reaction. He expected a few words from him, even the words how much he didn't feel like the friend of the others. Of course he knew what Camus thought about it. Being the best friend of the coldest person in the world thought him the way of Camus' thinking. But always it is better to hear everything than to suspect everything. Maybe later he would ask the Aquarius about it…?
"So, are you saying there was nothing suspicious?" asked the pope, looking at his two Saints, kneeling in the front of his throne. He sighed deeply. What was going on? He doubted that the report about this strange cosmo was fake or that Saint had the hallucinations.
"We found completely nothing. There was any strange cosmo there, not even the smallest trace," answered Milo.
Pope Shion nodded.
"I'm not sure if it would be linked to that…" he started, staring through the window. "But I would like you to check something else, Milo.
"Huh?" murmured Milo quietly enough to the Pope to not hear that.
"In Brazil we found some woman, who is insistently saying that her husband was kidnapped. But despite her, any other villagers remember that she had the husband. It is a little strange, Lady Athena informed me that many days ago she felt strong cosmo in that area. It could be related to the case in France. I would like you Milo to go there, talk with that woman and gain more information."
Milo twitched slightly, taking the long look at his lover.
"I know you just returned from here, but I would like you to leave an instant," added the Head of the Sanctuary.
The Scorpio held the loud moan of discontent in his throat.
"As you wish, your Majesty," he murmured and alongside with Camus, they left the Pope Chamber.
All the way down he was silent, holding his anger and disappointment. But once they were in the Aquarius Temple, he let his emotions free, hitting strongly the wall of the building.
"Could you believe that, Camus?!" he growled.
"Milo, don't be so angry," said Aquarius, looking carefully at his lover and trying to not to laugh. "Calm down."
"How could I calm down? Many others gold Saints are at now in the Sanctuary, why he had to choose me? We have plans for today!" Milo threw these words from his mouth with the anger Camus never expected to hear from him.
"Yes, we had. But we could have the same plans tomorrow."
"Ugh, I knew it could end like that, Camus. I just knew."
The Aquarius sighed with a slight chuckle. He approached him and encircled his arms around the muscular torso of his lover.
"Don't worry, Milo. I won't change my mind, if you are afraid of it."
"It is not about that…" murmured Milo.
"Yes, it is. You are afraid that when you would return here I would be gone again, or I would don't have to make love with you. But I will be waiting here, and when you will be back, we will do what we both want," Camus said.
He approached their lips and with all warmth he could find in his mind, he kissed passionately Milo, to tell him that all these words were true. The Scorpio smiled under the kiss and joined this small caress, breaking into Camus' mouth and starting the hot and greedy dance of their tongues. And right now, after Camus told him he would wait Milo could sacrifice this one day to gain the information for the Pope. This kiss was the promise of the passionate and hot night that was waiting for them.
Yes, he could do that.
