The Forgotten One
Blue eyes he treasured so much…
Warm smile, making him happy…
Soft, deep voice, whispering him many promises…
Wild curls, surrounding the young face he admired…
The tanned skin he loved to touch…
Gold, shining armor on the muscular body he earned every day…
And the name, sounding softly in his ears…
Name…
Scorpio…
The name of him…
The name of the Scorpio…
Milo…
Milo!
Milo.
Milo of the Scorpio.
Ugh, for Athena's name, how it could happen?
Camus quickly jumped out of his bed, caught his clothes, put them alongside with his Gold Armor in the speed worth of a Gold Saint and left the Temple of Aquarius.
He couldn't believe. He couldn't believe what happened. He couldn't believe he forgot.
He was so ashamed of himself, that he wasn't able to stand it. How could… How could he forget him? His friend, his lover, someone he loved, treasured. How could this be? Was his love toward Milo so weak that he was so easily cheated by some Goddess he still didn't know? Of course he was sure that everything was doing of some Goddess, who thought she could do everything. But even so, even if it was caused by someone powerful, he, Camus of the Aquarius shouldn't forget! It doesn't matter if he was facing human, God or monster! He shouldn't! Now he wouldn't be able to look inside these bright eyes he loved so much.
But now everything made sense. This case in Brazil… Only one person, who could remember her husband… And now he, the only one person, who could remember the existence of the Scorpio Gold Saint. It was still painful for him to know that for a whole day he lived in unawareness about something strange, he still couldn't believe he let his own mind to be deceived. So easily! Ugh, this shame was unbearable! Now he had to do something about that. He had to find the truth, why Milo was taken away, where he was… He had to save him!
And there was only one person, who could help him. Camus had hope that Lady Athena still was in the Sanctuary. Whoever it was, some unknown Goddess surely couldn't deceive Athena's mind as well. So maybe she could remember Milo too. Maybe she would know who kidnapped her Saint, who had guts to take away the subordinate of Goddess of War and Wisdom.
Oh, yes, he had hopes. If Athena was deceived as well, then how in the world could he rescue his lover? Without knowing anything? He had no assurance that the Pope and Lady Athena would believe his words. Did he have any profess? Could case in Brazil be enough? What if… What if we couldn't be able to do anything?
He passed through the Pisces Temple really quickly, not even bothering himself of greeting its owner, who appeared from the shadows with very sleepy face. He didn't have the time for courtesies when his lover could be in deadly danger. After all he still didn't know what for Milo was kidnapped. What if right now the kidnapper put him under some painful tortures? What if he was taken away just to be killed? Gods loved to play with human's lives, everybody knew that very well. It suited them, to take a few mere humans and have fun, while watching them dying in agony.
The last remaining stairs were for him just a hell. He was running through them, faster and faster, but for him it seemed like they would never end. The Pope Temple was far away, almost motionless at the blue, morning sky of the Sanctuary.
And then, when he lost his hope that the building could got closer, Aquarius Camus entered the hallway, heading straight to the Pope chamber.
One of two guardians standing near the entrance bowed before him; almost at the same time other man appeared in front of the Saint. But before he managed to ask, Camus shook his head and said, catching his breath at the same time:
"I have to see Pope right now."
The Pope's subordinate looked at him surprised.
"But…" he started hesitantly. "His Majesty is busy right now…"
"I don't care. It is far too important to be ignored. Please, I have to see him now," said Camus impatiently. Ugh, why always everything had to be delayed?
The man frowned a little, but obediently turned away and entered the Pope Chamber, wanting to talk with the Head of the Sanctuary. Camus sighed deeply observed by two guardians. He couldn't stand in one place, thinking about his lover, still couldn't believe what happened here, in the Sanctuary, where was the Pope, powerful Gold Saints and many others warriors, capable of sensing strange cosmo; he couldn't believe that this strange cosmo was noticed only by the Goddess, Athena. And his shame… This shame of forgetting his lover, someone who was beside him since their childhood. Did it mean that all these feelings towards his Milo were so weak, unimportant, so they could be threw into darkness so easily? Was he really such a cold man, for whom feelings had no matter? Did he really… Did he really love Milo…? Were his feelings faked? If not, why he, Camus forgot him…?
Actually not, it wasn't true. After all now he could remember Milo. Yes, it took him the whole day to remind him, but still, right now he was sure that someone called Scorpio Milo existed on this world, but was just taken away and all memories about him were erased from their minds.
After a while, which seemed for Camus to be eternity, the subordinate returned and with a gesture said, that the Pope was waiting. Without any second thoughts, Camus left the hallway and stood before their patriarch.
"For Athena's name, Camus, why are you in such a hurry?" asked Pope Shion, looking at the worried face of his Saint. "Does something happen?"
Camus bowed with respect before the Head of the Sanctuary and then looked inside his eyes, full of questions.
"Yes, I think something bad really happened yesterday, just like Lady Athena suspected," he answered, standing finally and gasping his fists strongly, almost digging his nails in his own cold skin. "Please, tell me, Your Majesty, weren't you feelings strange yesterday, like something wasn't right?"
"Strange…?" murmured the Pope. Was he feeling strange yesterday? Well… Maybe a little. Like he forgot something, missed some important thing… "Yes, I felt a little strange. Why are you asking, Camus? Is it important?"
"Then I would like to tell you something…"
"Tell me? What? Don't be so mysterious, Camus. I can see you are worried."
"It is about our missing Gold Saint. About Scorpio Milo."
Seconds were passing away slowly, while two men inside the big chamber, located at the highest hill of the Sanctuary were looking at each other in silence. Camus wanted to yell at the Head of the Sanctuary to understand everything faster; after all he had every information. Case in Brazil, missing human, who was forgotten. What else need this man, who since the last Holy War led the Sanctuary through the centuries? Was it so hard to figure out what happened here, in the land of Goddess?
But when almost one minute passed, the Pope shook his head strongly and looked at the Aquarius Saint with the uncertainty on his face.
"For a while I thought… I thought I saw eyes…" he murmured with a little surprised expression.
"Bright blue eyes?"
Pope Shion twitched slightly.
"Yes... How do you…?"
"These eyes belong to Milo, Gold Saint of Scorpio."
The Head of the Sanctuary shook his head again.
"I still can't understand it, Camus. What is happening?"
Camus signed. For now he had no time to explain every detail many times. Right now he had to see Lady Athena and ask for help.
"More important, Your Majesty, is Lady Athena still in the Sanctuary?"
The elder man frowned.
"Yes, she is still here, thought soon she wanted to go back."
The Aquarius sighed with relief.
"Then I suppose Lady Athena should listen to this as well, Pope. Our Goddess could help to solve this problem."
Without even asking about details, the Pope quickly left his Audience Chamber and after a long, really long while he returned with Athena. The girl looked really worried and Camus could see slight fear when she looked at one of her Gold Saints.
"Oh, Camus, what is wrong? Shion is saying that something really happened yesterday here, in your Temple," she said, looking as he bowed with respect.
"Yes, Lady Athena. But firstly, could you answer me for one question?"
"Of course. If it will help you."
"Then, do you remember Milo, Lady Athena?"
"Milo?" she looked at him surprised. For a while Camus' heart stopped. Now everything was gone. Would they believe his words, since even Athena's mind was deceived? "Of course I remember him, Camus. Why? Something is wrong with him?"
Camus gasped alongside with the Pope.
"What do you mean, Lady Athena?" asked the elder one. "Could you finally explain me, what is going on, Camus? Who is this Milo?"
Athena looked at him surprised.
"Who is Milo? Shion, what are you talking about?"
Then both of them looked at the Aquarius Camus, who for a while wasn't able to talk, feeling happy, that at least one person beside him remembered his friend. His lover.
"Everything could be explained," he said. "You Majesty, do you remember this case in Brazil? About missing human? And that only his wife could remember him?"
"Yes, I send Aldebaran there to check it out."
Goddess Athena looked at him surprised.
"Aldebaran? No, I'm sure you send Milo, Shion," she said, frowning strongly.
Camus nodded.
"It was Milo. Milo was send there a few days ago. Because Lady Athena sensed strange cosmo there. But… Wasn't that cosmo the same as this one here, in the Sanctuary?"
Athena sighed shortly, thinking. The cosmo she felt was familiar to her, but she couldn't recognize it very well. It was strong, really strong, almost as strong as Hades' one, but far kinder. Was it…?
"Yes, it was the same cosmo. When I'm thinking about it I have no doubts."
For a whole minute silence fell. The Pope was turning his eyes once at Athena, once at Camus. He seemed to be really surprised and still uncertain. He couldn't understand what happened, it was beyond his imagination.
"So… You want to say, that the same phenomenon happened here, Camus?"
"Yes. In short words, yes. Last night Milo spent night in my Temple. But when I woke up at the morning I couldn't remember him like you and like other Saints from the Sanctuary. I bet that probably no one beside me and Lady Athena could remember him right now," murmured Camus impatiently. He wanted to go where Milo was; he wanted to see him, to save him, to bring him home.
"But why only you and Lady Athena could remember him? And who did that? Who was strong enough to deceive so many minds?"
"God," murmured Lady Athena, thinking hardly. Since she had been living on the Olympus she met many Gods and Goddesses. And when she was thinking about it, she met this strange cosmo there. But she couldn't recognize it. She couldn't see the face of this God, who took away her beloved Saint.
"Yes," confirmed Camus. "More precisely, Goddess. Lady Athena could remember Milo, because she is Goddess Herself, and whatever it was, God or human, he couldn't deceive mind of other God. I can remember Milo right now, because… because he is my best friend," he added, deciding the he shouldn't tell them the real bond between him and Milo.
"But… But how we could find him? We don't know who was that," said the Pope, still feeling a little dizzy. But he believed them; he believed his Goddess and believed Camus.
"I think we could guess who was that," said Camus. "That night when Milo disappeared, I have dream. Well, I thought it was a dream, but more I think about it then I'm more certain it wasn't a dream. I saw back then lady, who took away Milo. She was really beautiful; she had long, golden hair. I never saw such a beautiful person and I couldn't even imagine someone like her."
The silence fall for a long moment. Athena was thinking hardly. Long, golden hair? Lady with beauty exceeded every limits of being beautiful? And a Goddess she already met at Olympus.
"I think… I think I know who it is," she whispered quietly. If she was right, then everything made sense in this case. Milo was really handsome man, and this type was on a list of preys of this Goddess. Athena knew that. This selfish Goddess loved to mess with other Gods as well. Just for her content, just to have what she wanted. After all long time ago she almost induced war with Ares for his son. And it wasn't hard to believe she would do the same with her, Goddess Athena, for human. "I think I know…" she repeated.
Camus looked at her with hope. He wasn't expecting such a fast solve of this problem. If Lady Athena knew who that was, then they could go there and save Milo!
"But I don't think it could be easy to bring Milo back," added the Goddess. "She is really selfish and stubborn; surely she took Milo for her content, and she hate to return her toys until they would bore her. And even then she would rather turn them into stones that let them go."
Shion gasped, Camus gulped.
"But of course we will try to bring Milo back!" Athena said. "Don't worry, he is safe by now. She won't kill him or torture him."
The long sigh of relief filled the chamber.
"But... Who was that, Lady Athena?" asked Pope Shion.
"Aphrodite. The selfish Goddess, who is told to be the most beautiful being on the whole world."
Both of the men inside the Pope Chamber sighed. It was so… simple.
"Now, I will go to Olympus and talk with her. Maybe she will return our Milo without any fight."
Camus sighed deeply. He was so worried about his lover. Well, at least the Scorpio wasn't in deadly danger, but still, it was so awful to be here, not able to do anything right now. They had to rely on her Goddess, but he, Aquarius Camus wanted to go with her, and talk with Goddess Aphrodite. He was even ready to beg her to return Milo. Because…
Because he couldn't even imagine this world without him.
