AN: sorry it took so long I had to get my ipad replaced which is what I write the story on & school started so I've been busy trying to keep my grades up so I can go to disney for Christmas & DC in May! But anyways I'm gonna try & update a bit more now that I'm getting in the swing of things again! (Alex is still OoC in the story!) if you've got an idea you want me to incorporate into the story by all means tell me! I've had a few people give me ideas or want more of something! The rest of the week had passed with out much of a problem they still had work but the hospital was a never ending job but since they had both become attendings they could leave on Fridays and hope not to be called in all weekend! Since Meredith had promised Alex that he could watch Zola this weekend they were going to let him take her after work or before depending on what he wanted.
When Meredith got to the hospital she told Derek good bye and took Zola's hand and went to find Alex on the peds floor. When they got off of the elevator she went straight to the NICU knowing he spent most of his free time in there with the baby he'd named Rosie since her mother had ditched her as soon as she could leave the hospital. "Hey Alex I've got your weekend buddy!" Meredith said as she set both Zola and her bag on the floor. Zola walked over to Alex and held her arms up waiting for him to bend down and pick her up. "Are you taking her down to daycare or are you gonna leave her here?" He asked standing back up with Zola on his hip. "I was gonna leave her here with you if you want I just figured you would want to hang out with her to maximize your uncle time with her since you've got competition." She said laughing at his face. "Who do you mean?" He asked her trying to think of anyone who was a better uncle when it hit him. "You mean Owen?! He's not competition. Huh Zola! Say Uncle Alex is my favorite uncle!" Meredith couldn't help but laugh, Alex may have been the only guy other than Derek who Zola would run right up to. Yeah she still loved Owen but she didn't act the same with him. "Yea you're probably right no competition for you. But anyways I've got to go if you end up not wanting her the whole weekend or something We can take her back if yo-" Alex cut her off "I've got this Mer I can handle the whole weekend besides you guys need the weekend off! Zola will be fine!" He said setting Zola down so she could say goodbye to her mom. Meredith knelt down and gave Zola a hug. "Alright baby girl be good for Alex this weekend. Daddy and I will pick you up in a few days. I love you!" She said kissing her in the head. "Thanks Alex we owe you no one takes her longer than one night so this is big so thanks!" She said standing up and handing Zola over to Alex and waving to Zola as she opened the door. "Bye Zo be good. Bye Alex see you on Sunday!" She said closing the door.
"Alrighty Zo we are officially on our own so let's have fun!" Alex said moving Zola's bag over to the far corner so it wasn't in the way of anybody. "Ok Zola do you remember Rosie from last Monday the baby in the last incubator?" He asked her moving to the far end of the room and holding her over the top of the clear box. "She's doing better too! She's gaining weight which is good soon she'll be as big as you!" He said poking her belly making her laugh. "If you can keep a secret ill tell you something really important!" He said quietly to Zola. "I'm thinking that maybe I'll adopt Rosie so she won't have to go into the system then you and Sofia can have a new playmate!" He said saying it aloud for the first time in the weeks he'd been thinking about it.
