The Doctor always dances on wedding

Leadworth 2012

There was a knock on the door. Brian didn't expect anybody. So he was quite surprised to see the Doctor standing on his doorstep. "Oh, what a pleasure to see you!"

"Yeah, good to see you, too, Brian." The two men hugged.

"Come in." Brian stepped aside and led the Doctor in.

"I'm going to make some tea, should I?"

"Ah well, I believe there's no time now."

"What happened?" Brian Williams asked worried.

"Nothing. Well, means something will happen. But it's not bad. It's good actually. Want to see your son and daughter in law again?"

"What? how? I thought you can't see them again?"

"True yes, I can't go to their timeline but someone else can. And remember, I've got a time machine."

He was grinning.

"Come on!"

He rushed of out of the house, Brian following him. They went into the tatrdis where the doctor set the time machine immediately into flight.

"Where are we going?" Brian asked while holding on to the console.

"The sixties!"

"But why?"

He received no answer.

New York 1960

Rory just returned from the groceries store around the corner and entered his and his wife's house. I the hall Amy ran to him in excitement.

"Rory, there you are. Look who came!"

"What? Who?" Rory put the groceries down on the side table and followed his wife into the sitting room.

"Hi Dad," River smiled.

"River!"

Father and daughter hugged.

"Are you staying for tea?" Rory asked.

"Actually, no. I came to invite you to my wedding."

Amy's mouth fell open. Then she laughed. "Finally. So, did he propose?"

"Yes," River nodded. "But I'll tell you later. You don't want me to be late for my wedding do you?"

"Oh daughter you're a time traveller, you can't be late."

River laughed. Then she took something out of the pocket of her coat. It was a small black device with some buttons and something that looked like some kind of opening. It reminded Amy of something like a high-tech camera.

"What is this?" Rory wanted to know.

"This is a Hologram Image Transmitter."

"Why did you brought it?"

"You know the Doctor can't come here and we can't rip you out of your time line but we want you to be at our wedding. So with this it's almost as if you are there. This HIT transmits a video projection to everywhere where the receiver is."

River put the HIT on the table and pressed a button and did some settings.

"Can we talk over this?" Amy asked then.

"Yes, I just enabled the audio transmission. So if we do that on the other side, too you can hear us and we can hear you."

Amy hugged River in excitement. "I'm so happy for you both. And we can see the Doctor again, Rory!"

The last centurion smiled at his wife and daughter.

"So Mum, Dad, I have to go. See you later."

"See you, Melody."

River typed something on her vortex manipulator and vanished with a crack.

Amy jumped. "I have to change!"

Leadworth 1960

Brian sat in the console room of the TARDIS. The Doctor had gone to the wardrobe to get dressed. Suddenly there was a crack and Brian jumped from his seat.

"Who are you?" He demanded as he had recovered from the near heart attack.

"Hello granddad," River said and smiled at him.

"What?"

"Haven't Amy and Rory told you yet? I'm Melody, their daughter. Maybe you remember me as their friend Mels."

Brians mouth stood open. "You're Mels..I mean Melody…I mean…they have told me about you. How do you call yourself?"

"River Song. But you're family, Melody is alright." She said softly.

"So you are…the bride?" Brian was still a little perplexed about the whole situation.

River patted his shoulder. "Calm down, gramps. You can talk to Amy and Rory now."

"Really? How?"

"Wait and see."

River took out another HIT and placed it onto the console. She switched it on and a beam of light came out of the opening producing an image of Amy and Rory's sitting room, original sized, in the tardis conole room. First they could only see the old fashioned cupboard and the little television with the long antennas. Then Rory came into view.

"River!"

"Hi, again."

"Oh the TARDIS looks different. Like it. And oh, what? DAD?!"

"RORY! My son! How are you?"

"Dad, what are you doing there?"

"We thought it would be nice to have him here, too" River put in.

"Amy!" Rory shouted.

"Coming!" they heard Amy's voice from upstairs. Then footsteps on the wooden staircase.

In this moment the Doctor returned in a white suit and a top hat.

The Hologram Amy almost jumped on Rory grabbing his arm. "Doctor! We've missed you so much!"

"Amy, Rory! The Ponds! It's so good to see you. Oh how I'd like a hug now."

He smiled widely and spun around until he stood directly in front of the hologram Amy looking in her face.

"oh, Amy, thank you. It was you who encouraged me to do this, you made me seeing the truth and gave me the strength. So that's why I need you here."

"Don't you dare run away; If you get cold feet again I won't let you."

He laughed. "I know."

Then he turned to River. "Get ready, love." He hushed her off and she walked the way he had just come from.

"And we move to the ceremony room."

He took the device in one hand and Brian with the other. They walked through the corridors of the TARDIS' interior and entered a room that looked all ancient and like a church but not like from earth. It was gallifreyan.

The Doctor placed the HIT again and Hologram Amy and Rory walked around the ceremony room with wide eyes,

"It's beautiful," Amy remarked.

Brian agreed in astonishment. The Doctor clapped his hands together and told them where to stand.

Then there was a noise, a crack. Amy looked around. "I'll be right back," she said and rushed out of the room. The rest of them looked puzzled after her.

Amy went into the kitchen where River stood in a long black sleeves dress.

"Wow", Amy slipped out.

"Is this your wedding dress?"

River smiled. "Yes, he doesn't want me to do it in white, he doesn't like the colour on me. Who knows why?"

Then they both went up to Amy's room and Amy made rivers hair and make-up. She wanted to do that and River allowed her.

Amy smiled widely when she looked at the result. River observed herself in a mirror.

"Good work, Mum, I like it."

"I'm sure he will like it, too. He'll love it," Amy added and they laughed.

"But now I must go."

River vanished.

She had just arrived outside the ceremony room as Brian opened the door.

"Ready?" he asked, she nodded and took his arm. Together they entered the room where Amy already stood next to Rory again. The Doctor awaited her at the other end of the room.

When they reached him The Doctor took her hand and Brian stood next to Amy and Rory. Then the Doctor took out a piece of fabric from his pocket. It was red with golden, gallifreyan circles on it. They both knew what to do. They wrapped the fabric around their hands and then rested their brows against each other.

"Amy, Rory, your turn," the Doctor said.

The couple spoke their lines for the second time.

"I consent and gladly give."

Then the Doctor closed his eyes and so did River. The rest went on telepathically. They made their vows by showing images in their minds to each other. By her smile one could tell River liked what she was seeing.

Then the Doctor showed her his name. Amy became a bit impatient because she didn't know what was happening. River and the Doctor opened their eyes. The doctor glanced over to his friends and explained shortly what they were doing.

"Then now we can come to the physical part I suppose," River smirked. The Docter nodded and he knew Amy was rolling her eyes on her daughter.

Then he leaned in to kiss the bride.

After the ceremony they left the TARDIS and found themselves in the garden of Amy and Rory's House that was now Brian's. The Doctor placed the HIT on the garden table and River got some wine and juice. The hologram Rory held also a bottle of wine and two glasses. They all poured in the wine and Brian made a toast to the newlyweds and all of them. They all cheered and drank.

Some music was playing in the background. The Doctor took Rivers hand and pulled her closer. "Wife."

"Husband", River replied, she put her arms around him and pulled him into a kiss. his hand made its way down her back and rested on her waist. Their lips part and slowly they began to dance in a close embrace.

Amy giggled in excitement and put her arms around Rory.

Now River was really married to the Doctor, he didn't had to do it for her but she was happy that they did and it meant a lot to her. This was really the happiest day of her life.

The End
