Chapter 17:

"Akila," Cain called over to a heavily pregnant girl.

Akila looked up and frowned, " Kaj hocete?"

"Pojdi pogledat novince."

Percy frowned, "What did you say?"

"I ask her to help you guys settle in." Cain said turning to face them. "Anyways, if you're going to stay here you have to pull your own weight. We have scientists studying possible cures for the disease and we have searchers looking for Gods, Demigods, and the enemy. These are the only two groups you can choose from."

"I see, well my boys and I were assigned searching by our king God so if you don't mind, I'd like for us to continue that." Percy answered.

"Of course." Cain wrote something down on a notebook. "I assume you wish to continue the search as well Lady Artemis?"

"Yes," She answered.

"Well then. Split into groups composed of three to four and then I will assign each of you a country." Cain's voice was monotone as he marked his paper off with a pen. "Well then. Perseus, Artemis, take Lucifer and Ace with you."

A pale blond seventeen year old boy appeared in front of them. His blue eyes were cold and his expression was closed off. An Asian sixteen year old boy was holding his hand with a small smile on his face.

"Hello Cain, why did you summon us?" The Asian boy asked curiously.

"I found the rest of the group you will need in order to infiltrate the base you found earlier." Cain said. "This is Perseus and Artemis. Percy, Artemis, this is Ace and his boyfriend Lucifer."

"His boyfriend?" Piper gasped from behind them. "You're kidding, right?"

Ace frowned, "Excuse me?" He asked confused.

Piper's face twisted into an ugly expression as she sneered at the two boys. "You're gay?" She asked like it was the worst thing in the world.

"Obviously," Ace answered, "Cain did just say it and we are holding hands. Are you stupid or something?"

Piper gasped, "Did you just call me stupid you little Faggot?"

Ace frowned and pulled out an iPod. "Faggot," he whispered typing it into a translate app. When the Japanese word appeared on the screen he scowled and began swearing, or Percy assumed he was swearing, in a different language.

Cain raised a hand to stop Ace's angry ranting. "That's enough. Piper, if you would please go away, the grownups have some important things to talk about."

Piper growled, "Excuse me but I am the same age as Percy!"

"Then act that age!" Cain snapped, "I have a zero tolerance policy on closed minded idiots! You are mature enough to know that gay people exist and if you can't accept it then you are as good as dead to me. If you do have a problem with anything you should at least have the fucking decency to keep your slutty mouth closed about it!"

"Sorry, Cain has quite the temper about this sort of thing ever since I was bullied for it." Abel appeared with a small boy in his arms. "He's been even more protective ever since my boyfriend, Levi was taken from us."

"And the baby?" Artemis asked as she looked at the baby boy sleeping in the blonde's arms.

Abel looked at the boy sadly. "Levi's sister had been raped and both he and his sister caught the disease that way. Levi died three months after contracting it and his sister died during childbirth."

"So his death was recent?" Percy asked sadly eyeing the infant.

"Oh, yes, it was quite recent but I'm fine." Abel whispered a faraway look in his eyes.

Cain sighed, "Anyway, we have gathered the following information; firstly, there is a psychotic maniac group destroying earth. Faith thinks they're aliens but I don't think so. They started by attacking weaker and less known Gods and have slowly moved up. These maniacs spread a disease we named The Destroyer."

"The Destroyer?" Percy asked in disbelief.

Abel frowned, "It's a cool name!" He defended himself.

Cain chuckled, "It was a spur of the moment sort of thing and it sort of just stuck. Like Levi's name." He motioned towards the baby, "He looks like Levi."

Abel frowned again and held the baby closer. "Anyway, about your mission. Ace and Lucifer discovered a cave that we believe is linked to the disease. We only found a couple notes with spells on it when some unknown person entered the cave and wiped out the entire team. Ace and Lucifer were able to escape but they weren't able to gather much else. When we returned the entire place was wiped clean like nothing was there."

"So why do you want us to go back?" Artemis asked.

"We found traces of magic. If we can gather data and discover who is behind this we are closer to solving this whole fiasco."

Percy smiled, "Let's do it."

Russ groaned as a masked man pulled a sphere out of his chest. Neveah lay dead in the corner. She had been tossed aside like a doll earlier.

Avery cried quietly and avoided another attack from a masked woman.

Russ lifted his head and croaked at Avery, "Escape," He whispered, "Now."

Avery looked at her twin sister and felt tears flowing down her cheeks. "B-but-,"

"You need to tell Abel what-," Russ was hit in the back of his head.

Avery watched as Russ was handcuffed and thrown in a portal. Avery gasped and disappeared to tell Abel, tears in her eyes and her heart heavy.
