Steve arrived at the hospital in a rush, eyes darting around until he caught sight of Thor and the others.
Thor rose to greet Steve with a warriors handshake, "Hello my friend. I must say, I did not expect this outcome when my brother fell ill, so suddenly."
Steve went pale, "Is...is...how is he? Is there-?
Thor rested a firm hand on Steve's shoulder, "Fear not," Thor assured him," Loki and the babies, are doing fine. Twas false labor pains, as your midgardians doctors declared."
"Babies?" Steve repeated. "As in, more than one?"
"Well this just got awkward," Darcy chinned in.
"Strange, Loki sounded just as shocked as you to hear the news. We're you not aware that he bares your children?" Thor asked.
Steve blushed at the question, "I...know that he's pregnant," he admitted bashfully, "I just thought there was one, we both did."
"Well this is a joyous occasion," Thor announced, "We must celebrate!"
Jane rested a hand on Thor's arm, "I think, perhaps we should let Steve go see Loki, first."
Thor looked to Jane, a soft smile on his lips, "Yes, you're right." He looked back to Steve, "Go on, be with him, he ought to be pleased to see you."
Steve nodded and made his way to Loki's room. Loki had taken the form of Lonna before they arrived at the hospital and now she lay with her back to the door.
Steve hardly made a sound as he entered, but Lonna was well aware of his presents, before he ever said a word.
"I was sure I had lost the baby," Lonna sighed, then corrected herself, "babies."
Steve didn't need to see her face to know she had been crying. Loki wasn't a person to show his emotions, but since he had become pregnant, it came quite easily. The idea was almost heartbreaking. Steve stood at her side and rested a hand on her should, "But they're ok," he assured her.
Lonna turned over to meet his gaze. The redness in her eyes, broke his heart.
"This is quite the surprise, isn't it?" Steve smirked.
Lonna rubbed her eyes, "I'd say so," she smiled lightly.
Steve rested a hand on her stomach, "Twins," he said, still in shock of the news. "So, Thor knows now, huh?"
"As do Jane and Darcy," Lonna added, "I think I made a friend today."
"Oh?" Steve asked.
"Darcy seems to have a taste for a bit of chaos," she told him. "we played a prank on Thor and Jane I took the form of her and we were going to have them guess which was the right one, but...we ended up going to the hospital instead." She pouted, "And I found something out. I know you wanted to wait, but it won't really matter now."
"What wont?" Steve asked a bit perplexed.
"Our babies will be fraternal twins," Lonna smiled, "Ones a boy and the other is a girl." Tears filled her eyes once more, "And they still look normal!"
Steve leaned down, kissing her gently on the lips, "Guess we should start thinking about names."
It didn't take long for the news to spread after that. Despite her promise, Jane couldn't keep her mouth shut, but it was more of an accident than anything. She was chatting with Natasha, who admitted she had already known, when they found out Clint was listening in by sheer mistake, or so he claimed. He then brought it up to Bruce, who of course told Tony, who told everyone else in SHIELD. Several thought it was a joke at first, but Tony reminded them that Gods were capable of many things, including men giving birth to children.
It didn't bother Loki one bit, Steve on the other hand was very embarrassed about the whole thing. Tony didn't make it any better, but if it weren't for Thor standing up for Steve, who knows what would have happened.
"What does it matter who he loves?!" Thor interjected.
Tony opened his mouth to say something witty, but Thor beat him to the mark.
"In my world, people love people for who they are, not their gender, nor race, nor color, or religion. Every day men marry men, and women marry women, just as normally as a woman marries a man in my world. Why is it so hard for midgardians to accept something so normal?" Thor demanded.
Tony opened his mouth then closed it once more. Pepper rested a hand on her shoulder and shook her head. Tony frowned and shrugged.
Thor stared him down for a bit longer then directed his attention back to Steve, "I'm pleased to accept you into my family!" he boasted with open arms.
Steve blushed, not expecting the sudden hug from the large man, "Are you expecting me to purpose?" he stuttered.
Thor kept an arm over Steve's shoulder, "Is it not the next step," he paused, "well I suppose it usually comes before you impregnate a person, but still, as it should, does it not make sense to do so, now that you're bringing children into the world?"
Steve's blush intensified, and felt as though he were shrinking in Thor's arms, "I-"
"What's going on in here?" Loki asked. He was dressed down in his casual Asgardian attire, and reaching the end of his second trimester and very obviously showing throw the fabric.
Thor stepped forward, "BROTHER!" he exclaimed, beaming like a child, "we were just speaking of you, I believe Steve has something he wishes to ask you!"
Everyone turned to look at Steve. His jaw dropped as he stared at Loki, wide eyed. They stared at each other for a long time until Steve quickly rushed out of the room, brushing past Loki, without a word.
A/N: Sorry for such a long delay for a new chapter, so much has happened between the last chapter and now. Along with the holidays, Christmas shopping and a crazy work schedule, my boyfriend was in the hospital and I was kind of out of it. Not to worry, it was just a staff infection, he's good now, then I got really sick, then Christmas! I was going to upload this earlier as a Christmas present but fanfiction log in was down. Finally got a chance to upload it, sorry it's not longer.
