Paging Doctor Spitz, You're needed in O.R.
The voice was distant, and unfamiliar, but he knew he had to reach it.
Nurses assistance needed in room 208, came the voice again.
His eyes slowly opened to blurry vision.
"Don't worry," came a woman's voice, "I'm only checking your vitals."
Loki looked over to the woman leaning over him. She had long, crimson hair, pulled into a high pony tail, pale skin and thick, dark eye liner. Currently she was pressing a cold device to his chest, making him flinch slightly.
"Sorry," she said with a light smile, "it's a bit cold, I know."
Loki looked around the room, still in a haze. He wasn't sure how he got there or what was going on, but all he really knew, was his stomach was really sore. That's when it hit him. Reaching down, he grasped at his stomach, when the nurse stopped him.
"You just got out of surgery," she frowned, "There's a lot of stitches and it's best you don't pick at them."
"Surgery?" Loki repeated, "stitches?" Quickly he threw aside the blankets and sheets and looked at his stomach. There was still some weight on him, but he could tell there was nowhere near as much as there was before. Inside he felt empty. There was no movement whatsoever. The babies were gone. "Where my babies?!" he demanded.
"Sir if you just-"
Loki shot ice from his hand in frustration, but the woman worked quickly, deflecting it with abilities of her own. An arcane circle formed in mid air, swirling with black and purple energy. It absorbed the ice in a split second, then disappeared just as the ice had. She adjusted a lose stand of hair then called for a doctor.
Loki on the other hand, wasn't willing to wait for explanations, he had to find out on his own. Ripping the ivy from his arm, he swung his legs over the side of the bed, but before his feet touched the cold linoleum floor of the hospital room, his body was paralyzed as he sat.
"My apologies sir, but I was told to do so, if you acted out," the nurse frowned.
A young male doctor entered the room, took one look at Loki and rolled his eyes. If Loki could guess, the man had to be in his mid twenties, which was surprising for a midgardian physician. He had black hair, slicked back neatly, thick framed glasses and showed hints of tattooing at the ends of his sleeves and top of his collar. Surly not something Loki would expect from a doctor. A rock star posing as a doctor, perhaps, with good cover up. The doctor about faced and left the room. A second later he returned with Steve at his side.
Steve rested a hand on the nurse's shoulder, "You can release him, I'll take it from here. Could you bring a wheel chair please?"
The nurse lowered her hand, "Of course," she turned and left the room.
"I'll leave you two alone," the Doctor said, patting Steve on the back.
Doctor Spitz to O.R. please.
The doctor looked at the ceiling, "I'M COMING!" he snapped before leaving the room.
Loki rose quickly, but regretted it as he clutched his stomach, "Steve what happened?" he groaned, blinking back his tears, "Where are our babies?"
The nurse brought in a wheel chair a moment later, before leaving once more. Steve wheeled the chair up to Loki, sit down and I'll tell you," he said in a soft voice.
Loki wasn't sure about Steve's tone, but did as he was asked. Steve wheeled Loki out of the room and down the hall.
"You were hit by part of the ceiling," Steve started, "It knocked you out cold. You're fine, obviously, luckily you're so hard headed."
Loki shot Steve a hard look, while Steve turned them down another hall way. "But what about the babies?!"
Steve brought them to a stop and walked around so that he was in front of Loki and crouched down in front of him. Steve hesitantly rested his hands on Loki's knees and looked deep into his eyes. "When you were hit with the debris, it knocked you out, but it put a lot of stress on the babies so they had to perform an emergency C-section."
"And!?" Loki demanded. Steve gestured with his eyes to the side. Following the hint, Loki looked to his left to see a giant window into a room. The room was full of small hospital cribs, each with its own little bundle of joy. In the lower left corner were two babies that Loki knew, right away were his. Not that they looked different from the rest, but because he could feel their promise of power, once they come into the proper age to access their powers. One was wrapped in pink and the other wrapped in blue, both were sound asleep. Tears filled Loki's eyes, "They're so tiny," he sobbed.
"But perfectly healthy," Steve added, blinking back tears of his own. "Despite being early, they're just perfect," he cooed.
Loki sucked in a sharp breath, "Can...can we hold them?"
Steve gestured to the nurse in the room, who smiled sweetly and let them in. After a few words about how to hold the baby and such, she handed the girl over to Steve and the boy to Loki.
"Hey there," Steve cooed, "I'm your daddy."
Loki looked down at his son, "And I'm your... " he looked to Steve, "What do you call a male that gives birth to his children?"
"My friend gave birth to his daughter, recently, and I still call him the mother," the doctor from earlier said as he entered the room.
Loki rose a brow, "You know a man who gave birth?"
The doctor shrugged, "I deal with supernaturals all the time, I never question it."
"He's not even human," Steve chinned in, "well, not fully. SHIELD found this hospital for us. Seems like they're part of their own special organization, dealing with secrets of the universe as well."
Loki looked between the men, "And what organization is that?"
"If I tell you, I'd have to kill you," the doctor smirked. "I better get to work, that's what they pay me for, anyway," he said as he left.
"That guy is weird," Steve frowned, then looked back at his daughter, "They're so cute."
Loki nodded agreeing with both of Steve's comments. Sneaking a peak under his son's baby cap, he got a glimpse of his hair, "It's black," he smiled.
Steve did the same with their daughter, "Blond," he pursed his lips. Steve pulled up a chair, sitting across from Loki when his eyes widened suddenly.
"What?" Loki asked.
"We haven't even thought of names yet."
A/N: Short update to make up for a gap in time. Still trying to decide on names for the babies, any ideas? I still have a few in mind
