Chapter 25:

Three years Later:

They won the war in all sense of the word.

It didn't feel like a victory by any means.

Percy and Artemis' hunters have been reduced tremendously. Percy only having a fourth of them remaining while Artemis had even less than that.

Almost none of the campers survived and Abel's entire group was a mess.

The only good part that came out of the war was the safe return of all the Gods and Goddesses. They were still weak and required time to get back to full power.

Demetri and his Angels all vanished back to Heaven to rebuild it right after the war and Zaine led his Devils back to Hell. Russeues stayed an extra night only to say goodbye to the survivors only to leave without a trace during the night.

Percy doubted he would ever see them again.

He hated this vulnerable position he was in. He lost almost everything he cared about in this war and now he didn't know how to handle this.

"Percy-," Nico started to say when he saw the look on his best friends face.

Percy just shook his head. "I can't do this Nico. It hurts." He whispered.

Nico just sighed and looked down. He knew whenever Percy was like this he normally took off for a couple years. Normally Nico would go with him but he had to stay behind for Jason right now. All the recovering Gods needed as much care they could get.

"Please Percy," Nico begged. He really couldn't handle all this extra stress Percy put on him at the moment.

Percy looked away and sighed. He turned and flashed out without another word.

Nico sighed, Percy would probably collect his remaining boys and travel the country gathering new recruits. No one would hear from him in who knows how long.

"He left?"

Nico spun around and came face to face with Artemis. He managed a nod.

She sighed, "This is the third war he fought in, I don't blame him for wanting to be alone. He lost a lot of his friends in those wars."

Nico nodded, "This one is different though. He brought all those boys into the war and now they're dead and he blames himself even though he knows it isn't his fault."

Artemis sighed, "We'll give him five years. If he isn't back by then, well lets say my hunters are very good trackers."

Nico watched her disappear before turning and returning to his father's room.

Leo looked at his daughters gravestones sadly. He never wanted to be one of those parents who buried their babies. Well no parent wants to be one of those but that was besides the point.

"You have to eat," Hazel said as she kneeled down next to him. Leo remained perfectly still and stared ahead.

"It's not your fault Leo." Frank said putting a hand on his husbands shoulder.

Leo flinched away and looked down, "please. I just want to be alone." His voice was raw from lack of speaking.

Hazel and Frank flinched at his words not liking how hard he was taking this. Leo did spend the most time with the kids so he knew them better. Isaiah had almost died as well but his immorality saved him. Unfortunately he was the only one who was immortal due to two immortal parents. Zaida, the triplets and Kyle were all mortal.

And now Zaida and Lesli were dead.

Hazel and Frank couldn't do much seeing that they were still recovering from the sickness. Leo wasn't as sick as they were and was already fully recovered.

They spent the last four years in combat. His babies grew up in war. It pained him to hear the nightmares they still had and he no matter how much he tried he could never be brave enough for them.

"Daddy?"

Leo felt thin arms wrap themselves around his chest and a head rest between his shoulder blades.

Leo had disappeared three years ago and missed watching his children grow up. Isaiah was nothing like the five year old boy he remembered.

He was nine now but even with the same eyes and hair he was so different.

For one there was a large scar in the middle of his chest tracing from his shoulder to his opposite hip. If he had been mortal he would have died to a blow like that instantly. He had lost almost all of his baby fat and gained thin muscle. He grew out his hair and kept it tied in a ponytail as a memorial to his sister.

Leo grabbed Isaiah's arms and held the boy tightly.

"I'm sorry I couldn't save them," Isaiah whispered.

Leo's eyes widened, "It wasn't your fault!"

"More mine than yours. I was with them when it happened."

Leo squeezed the younger boy tightly. "It's neither of our faults."

"Then why don't you go inside and eat? Everyone's worried."

Leo sighed, "Just because I know it isn't my fault doesn't make it any better. I still feel guilty and sad."

"They wouldn't want you to feel sad."

"I know." Leo frowned. Zaida was such a smart and beautiful girl that would never get to live life the way she deserved and Lesli was so young and innocent never getting to grow up.

"Daddy?" Another arm wrapped around his arm followed but getting tackled to the floor.

"Daddy, mommy says to stop moping and eat something," Alana demanded. She and Evelina were six now and quite demanding. They were young and didn't really remember Lesli that well and didn't get the concept of death when Zaida died. For that Leo was thankful. Counseling a sad Isaiah was enough pressure on him.

"Papa said that if you don't come in to eat you get no dessert, and trust me when I say you want dessert," Evelina grinned. "I made it all by myself!"

"No! Mommy made it, all you did was put it on a tray and roll it," Leo looked down at the four year old boy clutching his arm. Leo worried about him the most. Kyle only knew war as a child and growing up in peace might be difficult. He flinches at loud noises and he stopped crying altogether.

Leo sighed and allowed his kids to drag him up and towards the house. He allowed himself a small smile at the graves before turning away.

Jason moaned as he sat up. Nico and Thalia on either side of him helping him up. It had been three months since Percy had left, still no sign for him yet but they didn't expect one.

Jason was placed on his feet and leaned heavily on his sister and his boyfriend.

"How is everyone?" Jason asked as he was gently placed in a wheel chair.

Nico exchanged looks with Thalia, both not willing to speak.

"That bad, huh?" Jason asked before going into a coughing fit, this one lasting a minute.

"How are Abel and Cain?"

"We haven't seen them since the war ended." Nico said emotionlessly. Once the Gods had been freed everyone seemed to have gone their separate ways. The Angels flew into the sky, the devils disappeared into the ground and Russ just vanished as if they were never there ot begin with.

Abel and Cain had said their farewells before returning to Asia with the rest of their group. The pixies left in the middle of the night.

It was only the Greek/ Romans left. They would never see any of the friends they made again.

It was best not to mix religions.

They had much different beliefs and Abel thought it would be best to separate. They wouldn't want to cause a whole new war over customs. It would be pointless and create more problems than solve.

Nico found himself agreeing with him to a point. He saw making a woman cover herself from head to toe in clothing as immoral but others saw that as acceptable. He was gay and most religions didn't accept that because they saw it as sinful.

No, religions should never clash with each other again.

He gave Jason a small smile reserved only for the blond and kissed his lips softly.

Thalia pulled him off, "Stop it! It's like watching my brothers kiss each other."

Nico and Jason just laughed at her.

"Nico! If you hurt my brother I will cut your balls off and feed them to you. Jason, ditto."

"I would never hurt Nico," Jason chuckled weakly.

Thalia started pushing the wheelchair, "You better not."

FIN

Yes, this is the ending. Sorry, I'm getting bored with this story. I made it an open ending in case I decided to make a sequel so it could be like Artemis goes searching for Percy and 300 years later he is found or something like that….

I don't know yet.

So, what did you think? Was it worth reading? Not too sad I hope.

Sorry about the lack of Percy x Artemis, this story went in a completely different direction than I wanted it to go but I like it.

So, thoughts, anyone?

Thanks for reading

Lilac ;)
