Kurt tried not to panic as he started the car. Harry would have driven, if not for the fact that he didn't know how to. Harry was regretting not signing up for lessons as Kurt failed to start the engine for the third time. He held Kurt's hand calmly and rubbed against it.
"It's gonna be okay, I promise you that. You have to calm down."
Kurt said, "You don't get it Harry. My Mom also died due to an accident. Dad going through the same thing a second time is not good for his health."
Harry consoled Kurt, "It's not going to help his health if his son got into an accident going to the hospital, yeah? Now, deep breaths."
Kurt breathed in deeply, and started the car. The engine ran smoothly. As they drove to the hospital, no words were exchanged. Harry kept an eye on his phone, waiting for any new information to come in.

They entered the hospital quickly, only to find Burt waiting for them near the receptionist. Kurt flew into his arms and hugged his Dad. Burt immediately said, "It's okay. It's okay. It's going to be fine. No big damage."
Harry felt like a third wheel in the proceedings, but Burt looked at him and solemnly nodded. Burt then continued, "She's gone into surgery now, thankfully not much damage. But she'll have to be on bedrest for the next few months. Let's go see her?"
Kurt nodded. The receptionist looked at Harry and told Burt, "Only family allowed."
Burt shooed her off. "He IS family."
Harry felt something pull at him as they went up the lift. Apart from Hermione and the Weasleys, no one had called him family so nonchalantly before. They got out of the lift and Kurt ran out to the room, where he pulled Finn into a tight hug. Burt was standing outside with Harry looking in.
"Thought I'd give the poor kid some time with his Mom, you know. Even though we are a family and all, Finn and his mother had a close relationship for so long before we entered the picture."
They spent about five minutes, just sitting silently, before Kurt beckoned them to enter the room. Harry walked behind Burt, not talking much. However, Carole had something to say.
"Take Kurt with you, Harry. This isn't a big deal. I'll already have the Doctors plus two babies taking care of me. Kurt can come later and help me out."
Kurt shook his head. "Carole, you've had too many medicines. Go to sleep. It's okay."
Finn said, "Yeah Mom, sleep. You need it now."
She looked like she was going to admonish both of them, but then her eyes closed.
Finn got up. "I'm gonna grab a chocolate bar from the cafeteria. You guys want any?"
Everyone shook their head, as Burt got his wallet out and gave Finn a twenty. "Go down the road and have something filling to eat. Chocolate bars will not sustain you. Kurt, go with him."
Kurt wanted to protest, but left with Finn. Burt then looked at Harry, and said, "You still have to go to England, and take Kurt with you."
Harry shook his head vehemently. "No sir, it's okay. He can always come and meet my folks any other time."
Burt said, "Your tickets would be cancelled. I know you have money but don't waste it, kid."
Harry said, "No sir, it's seriously okay. Kurt needs to spend time with his family, especially after this."
Burt looked unsure. Harry pressed on, "They won't mind. My friends were taken out of school a week before Christmas vacations due to Mr. Weasley getting poisoned."
"POISONED?"
"It wasn't that big. Well, it was a big deal back then, but he's well now."
Burt gestured to Harry and they got out of the room so as to not disturb Carole.
He started, "I know that you told Kurt only for a week because you wanted him to spend some time with us. That is an opinion I usually never notice in young relationships. You are Kurt's first boyfriend, but compared to Finn and his confusing relations with three other friends of Kurt's, your relationship looks very stable."
Harry said, "When I had to come over here, there was a possibility I would never have the courage to visit England ever again. Granted, they were my friend's family, but they took me as their own. Because of that, I have learnt to appreciate whatever family, whether by blood or by friendship or purely by love."
Burt nodded. "You want to go join them?"
Harry's stomach grumbled and he agreed, walking out of the hospital with his boyfriend's father.

Firstly, I got an internship! It's an unpaid one, but it causes me to work longer hours than usual, because of which I was so exhausted that I couldn't even type out the chapter last week.
Secondly, I will not give up on this fic. It's my baby, and I will see it to the end.
And yeah, sorry for the short chapter. Let me know what you think!
