Rainbow Connection

Muppets version, can't remember who the originals are... I think it was the guy who created the muppets.

At the gazebo the band was in the middle of their song. Jake walked up the steps and looked around until he saw a small blonde girl sitting on the ground and clapping to the song.

"Beth!" Jake screamed in happiness. "Oh thank God!"

He ran over and picked her up, hugging her a bit tightly. "Oh thank god... Beth your okay!"

"Hi Jakey!" She cheered. "Band sing Beth, band sing Beth."

"Beth Corcoran. You don't leave the house and you don't just leave when your punished. I said no park, and I meant no park. Understand me? It's not safe to be out here alone without an adult, okay?" Jake asked holding the girl in his arms, but facing her.

She nodded. "Okay... Beth in trouble?"

He sighed. "I'll slide this just this once, so long as we leave the park now. Okay?"

"Jakey sing song." She smiled. "Please? We go after. Promise."

"Fine." Jake said as he placed her on the ground and walked over to the band.

He whispered along the band. Soon one of the guys pulled out an ukulele from a ukulele bag as Jake turned around and faced Beth.

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
and what's on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
and rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we've been told and some choose to believe it.
I know they're wrong, wait and see.

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

Who said that every wish would be heard
and answered when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that and someone believed it.
Look what it's done so far.

(Jake picks up Beth in his arms.)

What's so amazing that keeps us star gazing
and what do we think we might see?

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

(Jake starts waltz dancing with Beth in his arms)

All of us under its spell. We know that it's probably magic.

Have you been half asleep and have you heard voices?
I've heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors.
The voice might be one and the same.

I've heard it too many times to ignore it.
It's something that I'm supposed to be.

Someday we'll find it, the rainbow connection.
The lovers, the dreamers and me.

This is literally the song that inspired me to write this story. I could hear Jake singing this and I strangely, like said in the first chapter, just wanted some sort of relationship between Jake and Beth.

One more chapter and we're done.
