thats all I have to say so TO THE STORY

Annabeth POV

I tried to stand tall as Nyx circled me, it made me nervous for the fact that I didn't know what the women was thinking. There not many people that I couldn't examine, most revealed themselves through how they took things, and some didn't even try to hide what they were thinking. Nyx was none of these people as she didn't even wear a poker face, her face was just blank, and this is how she truly struck fear in people, you didn't even know that she was hiding something.

Nyx asked, her voice having no emotion "I'm a busy women, dealing all of the god politics, and raising the night, this is relevant as I need a nanny for my dear boy, you did save him from those hunters, Now to see if you have the skill to watch him"

This made the hairs on my neck feel itchy making me want to fidget, but I couldn't move with the tight circle Nyx had around me. Taking a similar tone to Nyx "Do you want to interview me then?"

Nyx slowly stopped in front of me, slowly in a way that reminded me of a viper, she moved so we were eye level. "That takes too long" taking on even more viper characteristics, Nyx hand lashed out, her finger tips touching me forehead.

The feeling of being flung open like a book washed over me. It was like I was an old book that hadn't been opened for years, and now my pages were being dog eared and ripped slight with the ferocity that Nyx looked through me.

With the speed she had, it still took a bit before her fingers finally pulled away. The area they were touching felt like it had melted but I couldn't reach up to check with the way that Nyx looked at me, I thought she was unhappy but the smile that twitched at her lips made me take a double look "Prideful, yes, has trouble with authority that they don't respect, won't be too much of a problem, caring even when your buttons are pushed, that's good, Imperfect yet perfect for the job, your reputation doesn't lie too much, when are you available"

With my job of rebuilding Olympus done, my time was pretty much free but I knew that Nyx already knew that but I still answered "Anytime you need, my lady"

Nyx still had her rather creepy smile "good you start now"

From the dark room I had been standing in, I appeared in what had to be Persephone temple, I had seen a little bit of this place yesterday when I brought Shadow home. He was on the couch playing with the stuffed owl I gave him. He was very observant as he noticed me in seconds.

I didn't have time to prepare for the tackle or the yelling "Anna you're here, ha, I heard from Mommy that you might be my new babysitter since Auntie Persephone busy, I also heard Uncle Hades call her wacky, is wacky a bad word because then Auntie attacked him for it"

I felt my mouth drop, Persephone attacking Hades that so can't be right. Getting my wits about me "Yeah I am, but I don't think Persephone attacked Hades for that, wacky just means crazy, and Hades is too well lord like to take that"

I didn't know that in the next five minutes my whole view of the gods would change.

Shadow suddenly gestured to be picked up so I did, and balanced him on my hip. He continued to say "well, She punched him really hard this morning over waffles so I think she did attack him cause she wouldn't stop, Mommy told me it's mostly just the pregnancy getting to her" wait Persephone pregnant when did this happen, I didn't even know the twos relationship went that far since I thought she hated Hades.

Shadow suddenly got this look, he giggled "I am about to be proven right"

I didn't even have a chance to mutter a sound before the temple doors slammed, and Hades ran past me and jumped behind the couch that shadow had been sitting on. A bruise was beginning to swell below his eye.

He saw me, and asked "what is with women, now I got a pregnant one, and a mad mother in law on my tail, and all I said is I hope the baby is a boy"

My eyes can't be working right as this is the lord of the underworld hiding behind a couch because of two women, no Nyx must be putting me through some mind test, and putting me in position that are just odd. That makes sense, well only a little bit, damn gods. "Well Hades if your hiding from Persephone, why hide in her temple" that's was all I could think of in this odd situation.

It dawned on Hades where he had run to, he got up looked at the window then me "you never saw me, and if my reputation is tarnished because of this, I am still the evil lord of death to you Ms. Chase"

I gave a nod of shock to him as he began to run for the window, why he doesn't use the door is beyond me. But only feet from the window, vines snapped out of the ground, and wrapped around Hades ankles. The doors of the temple must have shut themselves as they flung open again to reveal Persephone, and for once in my life I knew what a really mad Goddess looks like, and it is not a pretty sight, people.

She looked at me "take Shadow to the zoo, Ms. Chase, I need Hades" wait a minute, she used the name Hades like an object. Wait, I do not want to know, never mind, I am good with my ignorance for once.

I grabbed Shadow's Owl, a list I knew just had to be on the kitchen counter, and I was off, leaving Persephone to do whatever with Hades.

As I walked away with Shadow in my arms, I chanted in my head 'Don't Analysis what she said, don't figure out what she meant, don't analysis, don't figure out, don't…. I just figured it out" my whole body shivered at knowing that Hades and Persephone were intimate.

Shadow looked up at me when he felt the shiver, like the innocent boy he is "Are you cold or something?"

"Yeah let's say that, I'm just a little cold"

"WAIT"

"FISHES"

I was running after Shadow as he ran to the aquarium part of the Zoo, I couldn't get mad at him as he was also making the owl fly that he now has named 'Thena' well he tried to say Athena but all he could get Thena, so he now is calling his owl Thena. That's what I get for telling him about my mom.

He stopped at the tank tunnel to look around him to see all the fish and even some sharks. It made his big eyes sparkle in wonder, making it all the harder to stay mad at the little guy. His dark green eyes seemed to brighten tell they seemed like a familiar sea green that made me choke slight.

All the noise of the noise stopped as I stared at Shadow, he looked like Percy, his eyes matched, his slight smile even matched. My heart pounded in my ears as I tried to focus on the present but in my minds eyes, images of Percy passed by, some happy and some sad. The one Christmas that we managed to spend together passed through my mind, same with our first kiss, and not to forget when I first saw him in the roman camp.

My lungs burned as I realized I hadn't taken a breathe, well my breathe came out so shaky that it drew Shadow's eyes away from the fish. Looking noticed that his eyes weren't Percy's green anymore, it must have been the lighting or something, Percy was long gone.

I must have once again drifted off as Shadow was hugging my knees asking "What's wrong Anna?"

"Nothing, Shadow, nothing"

It didn't take long before I noticed that every conversation I started with Shadow went back to food, so I figured he was hungry, and I took him to one of the Zoo's many food courts.

The one that we ended up in had a African theme to it, the tables looked like the backs of Animals while the overhanging umbrellas looked like palm trees, I have no clue why they think that Africa is covered in palm trees when it's not, but how can I stop there lack of information. The food containers were also African themed but Shadow managed to find the only fish shaped cup in the whole place, he forced the Cashier to hand him that one, well at least I gave the poor guy a good tip.

Shadow looked up from his lion nuggets as if he sensed someone then "Someone powerful nearby, I can feel it" it made him look like he wanted to shrink into his lifted monkey chair.

Glancing around, I tried to pick up on a monster that might be hiding, but all I saw was some Zoo goers, some people that fit to the stereotypical tourists with wearing shirts to big or small shirts that were covered in flowers, then carrying around a big camera. That's when I saw her.

If it wasn't for my past experiences with my mother, I might have not noticed that it was her, she was dressed as one of the tour guides. The tour guides were dressed in tan Khakis with green polo shirts, and to top it off white shoes and a hat. The only thing that would tip anyone off that my mother was her deep gray eyes.

The minute she got her group settled like any other tour guide would, she darted off towards me.

So to know that she wasn't welcome, as she got closer, I gave a very deep scowl. Shadow noticed this an imitated my face, but on him the scowl was just a funny looking frown that would make anyone stop and call him adorable.

I barely glanced up when my mother stopped right by us, I didn't even move as she greeted "Hello Annabeth, How are you?" her tone gave away that she thinks that I am a ticking time bomb.

Trying not to get frustrated with her, I fiddled with the promise ring that Percy gave me just a month before he died, a promise I knew he must have hated breaking. Using the promise ring to diffuse my frustration, I calmly responded "I'm fine Athena, I do not need you watching me constantly"

She seemed a tad, I don't what the emotion was, but maybe the comment wounded her a little, though I doubt it.

Shadow suddenly piped up "Awkward"

Athena sat down at one of the last seats left at the table, making a long sigh escape me. I wouldn't be shaking my mother today. Why can't she leave me alone like a couple years ago, I feel like I am being suffocated with how she hovers. I know I haven't been the same since his death, good I remember not to say his name so I won't cry now, but continuing as I still need time to breathe, and she won't let me have it.

Before an awkward, as shadow puts it, conversation could start, a waitress came up. Just from how she walks, I could tell she was a bubble women, something I didn't have the patients to deal with.

She explained as she came up to us "The waitress that was servicing this table had to leave, so I am your new waitress" ok maybe she wasn't that bad, so I took a swig of my coke "OH is that your son he is adorable" I began to choke on my soda so bad that Athena had to pound me on the back.

Looking at the now startled women, I croaked "He's not mine, I'm just babysitting him" the croak made Shadow begin to giggle as he clap his hand. He giggled out "You turned blue for a bit" wonder why.

The waitress began to blush as she began to process what had occurred, making her slowly back up as her blush got worse. Thinking she need to, she bolted for the counter.

Luckily Athena changed the subject so I could calm down, she directed her question at Shadow "Ahh you must be Nyx's son that Artemis hurt yesterday, how's your arm doing?"

He grabbed the edge of his polo sleeve, slowly bringing it over the bandages that still had speckles of red on them from when his blood bled through. Like a crazy kid, he pulled the bandages down making him yelp but to show the now looking slightly infected wound. As I looked closer I realized that slight infected was an understatement. The wound was bright red but was surrounded by yellowing puss that was beginning to almost bubble, to make the sight worse, one big fat bruise surrounded the area, giving a red-purple-yellow mix.

I have seen some viscous battle wounds and so has my mother, but on a six year old little boy, the wound was amplified. It made both me and mom pale so we looked like we hadn't let are faces see the sun.

I screeched softly "That must be painful, why didn't you tell me sooner Shadow" pushing my chair back violently, while managing to attract little attention from around me, I rushed to his side, inspecting the wound closure. Just this morning it wasn't this inflamed but I remember from my own battle wounds that, infection can set in fast like this.

Athena offered slight as she moved to look over my shoulder, looking a little mortified at the sight of Shadows wounds "Want me to flash you to Olympus"

He answered as he tried to poke the wound "well, it just started to burn but I didn't think it was that bad" if I were in some type of comic, right now a sweat drop would be on the back of my head.

This kid must have an iron will if he wasn't crying about this. Then again I read a study about how they took a lobster, put into a pot with cold water, then put it on a stove. Slowly they would notch up the heat, wait for the lobster to adjust then notch it up again. Not once did the lobster looked distressed even when it got to the point that it was being cooked alive. This must be a similar situation, just hopeful he wasn't dying from this.

Finally hearing my mother's question, I responded still having a slight croak "yeah, yes, we got to get him out of here and too some medical attention"

I picked him up, then began to follow my mother around the building so no mortals will get killed in the flash. Now I am glad that my mother appeared when she did, because I might not have noticed his wound getting infected tell much later, a thought that will now join the others that already haunt me.

Shadow pouted "I want to go home-home, Mom promised yesterday that she would take me home, but in her worlds 'some stupid god politics is stopping her,' I hate god politics"

Athena stopped as she looked around to check for mortals "Yeah don't we all hate politics, anyone who loves it, I am concerned about" seeing no one, she got ready to slash.

I quickly covered Shadows eyes, and closed my own. The feeling of flashing for me wasn't that bad actually, it just felt like a lot of heat and pressure surrounding my body, but as Thalia would screech to the heavens 'I always throw up since my stomach always goes into my throat' I think it's just because Artemis sucks at flashing into places.

We appeared in Athena's temple library, well it looked like the poor small room was transformed into a library. After a quick look around "Hey this was supposed to be a medical room, why have you piled books to the ceiling in it"

Athena looked around, picking up books like she was looking for something "Well since I figured I would never use it when I never really have a medical issue or will in the near future, I wanted to find a use for this room, now where is the medical kit"

I replied sarcastically "I bet it's under the medical books" to my surprise, my mother ran over to a pile and pulled out a medical kit from under it. I got a good look at the cover to see it was book on the rarest diseases in the world, well my sarcasm had the answer, who knew"

Setting shadow down on top a pile of books, Athena began to clean the wound out making Shadow whimper "I hate this, my mom did it yesterday too"

"well it's good for you, it's like broccoli, good for you but no one likes it"
