Part 8: Good Ideas

Edward's POV

Watching Leah by moonlight was still as captivating as the first time we'd met in the forest. She was a beautiful angel who extended her hand to me and gave me life, my amazing angel, my wife, and the love of my life. I watched her from afar as she looked up to the moon. She was wearing all white and she had the most pensive look on her face. She having a "conversation" with her father. She would do this when she had a heavy heart and didn't want to burden me with her thoughts. Most of the time I would let her think that her attempts at sparing me were effective, but tonight I listened because the whole day she'd seemed sort of somber. She sat on her blanket in the front yard and picked at the grass after a while she looked over her shoulder and made eye contact with me. She motioned to me with her little pointer finger and I hurried to her as she requested.

"Sit with me," she instructed quietly as she patted a spot next her on the blanket. She nestled herself against me and wrapped her arms around my waist. She took a deep breath and she thought of our now grown looking daughters and remembered them as her babies. She remembered giving birth to them in the tub alone. Now she felt since they were grown they no longer belonged to her.

"They are still your children Leah," I whispered and kissed her on the top of her head.

"Yeah …," she said with a raspy tone. "Did you see them in the pictures today? They are women Edward and I'm sure they both think as women do. They no longer need my guidance and I'm sure they want their freedom." Leah wiped a tear from her cheek. "It's not fair I have to let go so soon!" I rubbed her back allowed Leah to release some of her frustration before telling her how untrue her thoughts were.

"Both of our girls love and respect you. They ask you more hard life question than they do me and I've lived much longer that you have. I could be jealous of that," I chuckled and Leah just looked up at me and then positioned herself so she could wrap my arms around her.

"Did you see the way they both scrambled out of here after our family portraits were finished? Both of them have better places to be," Leah mused.

"You know Liz had planned to hang out with Embry tonight and Sky … well she just prefers being alone most of the time. It's really a normal characteristic for a vampire to prefer solitude." Leah nodded and then closed her eyes and took another deep breath.

"I'm not crazy I know she's quieter than Liz but Sky is hurting. I can't believe my little girl is still holding onto the hurt that came with her first crush. It was years ago … maybe it's because she hasn't been around any other men to have new feelings for anybody else." Leah's mind went to work, now that Skylar was older she could go out and experience the world. It would be best for both girls if they were to go so and have more interactions than just the family.

"You can't worry about this but so much Leah. Skylar and Liz both are smart enough to protect themselves, you raised them that way. What brought this all on?" I asked because I was really confused.

"Tomorrow we're having that damned coming of age party, but all day I've just been thinking all of this is too soon. I just keep remembering them crawling around and barely being able say words."

"You want another baby?" She looked up at me shocked and she really gave it some thought. She mentally confessed to kind of wanting to go through it again. She wanted me by her side experiencing the whole thing with her. I nodded and gave a slow smirk.

"I have no problem with getting you pregnant Mrs. Cullen, but I would like to take you away and explore the world with you first. We have a whole eternity to live together but wouldn't like a moment for us to just be alone?"

"Yeah, I like the idea of that too." She smiled. "Actually when you put it that way Edward it doesn't seem so bad the girls being grown." She leaned in and kissed me. I swiftly changed our positions so she was now pinned between me and our blanket. I kissed her fully and passionately under the moonlight and when our kiss she whispered those four little words that made being her husband so gratifying.

"I love you Edward."

Third Person POV

Embry sat in his mom's house playing video games when he heard a rapid tapping on the front door. There Liz stood but she didn't look the same. She wore her hair down and straight for a change and a white dress.

"Yeah I know I look all girlie like Sky but I didn't feel like changing. I just needed to get away from her damned dreary thoughts," she brushed past Embry and picked up his spare controller by his console. "Make it two player team mode okay?" Embry did as she requested.

"So besides Sky mopping around, how did the pictures turn out?" He asked as he skillfully killed the zombie on the screen and looked at Liz out of the corner of his eye. She had drawn her bottom lip into her mouth and sucked on it. Ever since she was little she would do that. He always thought she looked weird when she did it. Today is wasn't that weird but he did draw his attention.

"They went okay I guess. I mean Alice was picky like she always is. She kept trying to get me to wear heels like Sky but I was perfectly fine in my flip flops. Liz wiggled her toes for emphasis.

"What's the harm in looking identical to your sister for a few minutes to make your family happy," Embry teased.

"We're always identical." Liz took a moment to pause the game and turned to Embry. "I don't think you get how annoying it is to not have your own face. I feel like every time someone looks at me, they aren't seeing me but both my sister and I. I wish I had my own face sometimes." Liz shrugged and went to cut the game back on. Embry was a little shocked normally Liz very closed off about her deep thoughts. She always had this façade that made most people believe she was happy all of the time. She wasn't always happy, Embry knew this. She wasn't always bubbly she could be just as somber as her sister normally she would have her down moments with him. She didn't want to bother her parents with mood swings she considered trivial. She just never spoke the bad stuff out loud. After they started playing again Embry's mind wasn't completely in the game.

"Dude! Get it together. You've only got two lives left!" She nudged Em and he paused the game again. It was her turn to look at him puzzled.

"I … I don't see Skylar when I look at you," he confessed he looked at her with very wary eyes and she giggled a little.

"Why do you look like you pissed your pants? I guess that makes sense I mean you are around me a lot and I guess you just know my face." Liz shrugged off the weird vibes she was getting from her best friend.

"No, I know you," he whispered as he picked at his controller.

"I can't disagree with you there. I share more with you than I do anybody else Sky excluded … but I share with you willingly. Sky and I are linked and sometimes I wish we weren't." Liz ran her fingers through her hair as she thought over some of the thoughts that have been going through her sister's mind lately. They've been so dark and whenever Liz tried to help it would only serve to make Sky mad enough to phase. "Sky's so … sad all the time. I never want to be that way."

"You won't be," Embry stated firmly and Liz snorted. "I'm serious I mean … I … if you …" Liz looked thoroughly confused. Embry was stuttering all over himself she rolled her eyes.

"Look can we just play?" She picked her controller back up and he covered her hand with his.

"Don't be mad at me," Embry said quickly before kissing Liz. Her eyes bugged out of her eyes and she protested and pushed him away.

"What? Where the hell did that come from?" She blurted out.

"I told you not to be mad at me!" Embry countered.

"I'm not mad! I'm shocked, confused, and weirded the hell out, but I'm not mad … I don't think." She calmed herself and touched her lips and took a moment to process what just happened. He watched her not so patiently waiting for her to respond to what happened. Her green eyes pierced into his. He scooted closer to her and slowly angled his face closer to her. He was asking without asking. She tilted her head and placed her lips on his. Their kiss was more about exploration, confessions, and passion. Embry slowly lowered Liz onto the carpet and she panicked.

"Em, no I … I can't," she panted.

"I know Lizzie, trust me," he whispered before placing little kisses along her jawline. Liz was alarmed how easily she slipped under Embry's spell. She ran her fingers through his ebony hair then gently led his lips back to hers. Their make out session grew into something that could quickly become a bedroom situation easily. Embry allowed his hand to wander the length of her thigh. He broke the kiss so that he could pepper kisses along the side of her neck. She panted as she lazily allowed her fingers to trail along his back.

"Em, we should stop," Liz murmured regrettably. She needed to talk to him and not focus so much on her newly found female hormones. He was hovered of her stroking her hair out of her face.

"You're right, but that's a very hard task because you're very beautiful Elizabeth." He kissed her on the nose and she giggled.

"Maybe a little while longer won't hurt," she conceded she pulled on his shirt collar and drew him back to her." Just as she did the door swung open.

"WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?" Jacob yelled loud enough to wake Embry mother. Embry and Liz sat in a more acceptable manner. Jacob grabbed Liz by the arm and pulled her away from Embry.

"How could you do this she's a child?" Jacob continued.

"NO SHE'S NOT! I LOVE HER!" Embry yelled and Liz's jaw dropped. He loved her whoa that was big news to her.

"Love her! You don't even know her! You aren't the one who sat up with her at midnight," Jacob rambled through his fit of rage. It was then both Embry and Liz realized he thought Liz was Sky. Liz stood behind him and tried to stifle her laughter.

"Dude," Embry went to correct him.

"Shut up Call! Stay away from Skylar or I'll kick your ass!" He went to pull Liz along with him but she jerked her arm away.

"He shouldn't have a problem with that because I'm not Sky … and dude if you feel so strongly for my sister maybe you should try talking to her yourself!" She went over to Embry and stood beside him with her arms are crossed.

"I just thought, your hair, and dress … I'm sorry." He looked over to Ms. Call who didn't say anything but observed everything.

"If everything is okay here I'm going back to bed. Keep it down!" She murmured something as she headed back to her room. The three stood there staring at each other. Embry wished he could mentally send Jacob the message to get lost.

"Nice to seeya Jake, now get lost!" Liz blurted out and shooed him out the door.

"Hold on Jake why did you come over anyway?"

"I was wondering if you were invited to their coming of age party … but after seeing this I'm sure you are." Jacob shrugged and scooted closer to the door. "I'll leave you two alone. Oh and Liz tell Sky I said hi." Liz nodded and Jake finally made his exit. After he left Liz turned to Embry and looked him dead his eyes.

"So … you love me?" She asked.

"Yeah Lizzie … I love you." He wrapped her arms around her waist and kissed her forehead. "I hope that's okay." She gave him a goofy little grin before she wrapped her arms around his neck.

"I like the idea of you loving me," she pecked him playfully on the lips. "Now can we play apocalypse 4000 and then a little more of what we were just doing?"

"Sounds like a perfect night to me!"
